Chapter One: War of the Alphas
In the Coniferous Forests of Sierra Nevada, you can hear wolves fighting. The Bonded Pack of the Alpha wolves Zephron and Mekhion. Who were once two powerful packs, and together they have become the strongest pack ever forged. You can hear them on this Blue Moon, as they fight with those who have come to take what is theirs, their True Alpha and their pack. The Bonded Pack has the upper hand and is winning the fight.
But who is winning the war?
If you go even deeper into the forest you can hear more fighting, more howling, more growling, as two wolves fight over domination. The rust-colored wolf wants what all the other Alpha’s want, the true Alpha wolf Zephron, and her human Alameda. And he is determined to have her, after all, it is his destiny.
“Stop fighting this Alameda, you’re going to lose, I am your Alpha.” Sebastian Mariarty said as he snapped at the silver wolf’s hind legs.
“I have a mate.” Aly said as she jumped away from the wolf.
“You cannot mate with a hunter. He cannot provide you with children.” Sebastian said as he jumped at her.
Aly dodged him and turned to look at him again. “I don’t need children to be happy with my mate.”
“He is but a child, and I am a man.” Sebastian said as he lunged for her again.
“You cannot force yourself upon me, I am a true Alpha.” Aly said as she moved out of the way and watched him land on the ground, face first.
He stood and shook himself off, then turned to her again.
“You are toying with me, Alameda.” Sebastian said as he moved towards her. “If you did not want this, you would have attacked me by now, instead of dodging.”
“I don’t like violence.” Aly said as she watched him approach her.
“That’s crap and you know it, I saw you fighting down there, you were magnificent.” Sebastian said as he stopped within a few feet of her.
“That was different, I was protecting my pack.” Aly said as she took a step back from him.
“Why don’t you let your wolf talk? Let her decide.” Sebastian said as he took a step towards her.
For every step she took back, he took one forward. If he can just lay claim to her, then both her powerful packs will be his. And Cyrus won’t be able to stop him. No one will, not even the hunter.
“Zephron is in agreement with me.” Aly said as she took another step back.
“Is she? Let her come out, let her tell me.”
‘Zephron, don’t listen to him, he will play us like a fiddle.’ Aly said as her wolf came forward.
‘I like to play.’ Zephron said as she sniffed the air.
‘Zephron.’ Sebastian’s wolf said as he too came forward.
‘New smell.’ Zephron said as she sniffed the air again.
Aly wanted to throw up. She knows that smell, it’s the smell of darkness.
‘I am your Alpha Zephron, your mate.’ Sebastian’s wolf said as he took a step towards her.
‘Mate.’ Zephron said as she looked around for Boone.
“That hunter is not your mate, you’re a powerful wolf who deserves a powerful Alpha as your mate.” Sebastian said as he watched the silver wolf. “It was foretold that we would mate.”
Zephron stopped sniffing the air and looked at the rust-colored Alpha wolf with a whimper. ‘Zeldon?’
‘No Zephron, it can’t be Zeldon.’ Aly cried out.
How can the Angels cross her destiny with this foul-smelling, evil creature? No, he can’t be her destined mate. He can’t be Zeldon.
“You were also told that we would mate?” Sebastian asked.
Zephron looked at the rust-colored wolf and nodded her large head. ’Zeldon, mate.” She said as she watched the other wolf approach her.
‘No Zephron, we have a mate.’ Aly cried.
“I am your mate, Zephron.” Sebastian said as he tried to overshadow Aly’s words. All he has to do is mount her once and she is his.
‘Zephron no, his wolf did not acknowledge that his name is Zeldon, please.’ Aly said in a panic as her wolf hunkered down on the ground like she wanted to play.
Mate. Zephron said excitedly.
‘No Zephron, we can’t play, he’s not our mate.’ Aly said as she tried to reach her wolf. But Elaine’s words replayed in their mind.
‘You will be mated someday, with a very powerful wolf, and his name is Zeldon.’
‘Zeldon.’ Zephron said as she looked at the other wolf.
“Yeah, sure, Zeldon.” Sebastian said as he moved behind her.
‘Mate.’ Zephron said as she wagged her tail.
’Zephron, he is not out mate. We chose Boone, don’t let destiny choose for us. Even if he is Zeldon, don’t let him take us.’ Aly begged.
Boone, mate. Zephron said as she watched the other wolf move around her.
‘Attack him.’ Aly whispered.
Zeldon. Zephron said with a whimper.
The rust-colored wolf mounted the silver wolf. This was easier than he’d thought it would be. Tell a few stories, tell a few lies, and she’s putty in his hands.
Zephron’s ears perked up at the sound of Boone’s voice.
“He’s not your Alpha Zephron, he’s not your mate! His name isn’t Zeldon, it’s Desloun!” Boone hollered as he ran towards them.
‘Desloun?’ Zephron whispered.
‘That’s me.’ The rust-colored wolf said as he jumped on Zephron’s back.
“Damn it.” Sebastian grumbled.
Zephron growled so loud the trees vibrated. She turned around and almost bit the wolf’s member off. Desloun yelped as he jumped back away from the silver wolf.
“You never let your wolf speak, if you had, he would have told us his real name. You are a horrid creature.” Aly said as she growled angrily.
“You were almost mine.” Sebastian said as he circled the silver wolf. “I will just have to take you by force then.”
Zephron howled as the large rust-colored wolf jumped on top of her and pinned her to the ground.
‘Are we going to let him get away with this?’ Aly asked her wolf.
Zephron growled as she sunk her teeth into Desloun’s throat. The rust-colored wolf screamed as Zephron threw him off her. He flew through the air and slammed against a large tree. Zephron shook herself off as she stood.
“You need to leave now.” Aly said angrily.
“I’m not finished with you yet.” Sebastian said angrily as he jumped at her.
A Tan blur moved past Aly’s vision and the rust-colored wolf went flying away from the silver wolf. Aly watched as Cyrus stood up and backed away from Sebastian and moved to stand between the large Alpha wolf and his Alpha.
“Mekhion, no.” Aly said as she watched Cyrus and his wolf bend down and growl at the other Alpha.
“You are my Alpha, no?” Cyrus asked as he continued to growl at Sebastian.
“And you are mine, which is why I cannot let you do this.” Aly said as she bumped against him.
“What is the meaning of this?” Sebastian said with a growl as he got to his paws. “You two are together now?”
“No.” Aly and Cyrus said at the same time.
“We are bonded.” Aly said as she moved to stand next to Cyrus.
“Bonded? You can only be bonded if you mate.” Sebastian said as he snapped his jaws at them.
Aly pushed Cyrus aside wish her shoulders. “Stay out of this, Cyrus.”
Sebastian jumped on top of Cyrus and bit down on his neck, making Cyrus cry out.
“No!” Aly screamed as she jumped on top of Sebastian and ripped him off Cyrus.
‘Pack!’ Zephron said angrily as she tossed the wolf into another tree.
“Cyrus, get up.” Aly cried.
“I’m okay Aly, take care of him.” Cyrus said as he looked up at her.
Zephron howled, then turned to the rust-colored wolf. The large Alpha wolf jumped at her and she dodged him. Aly played dodge the werewolf, for about fifteen minutes before she and Zephron got bored of it.
Zephron jumped on Desloun’s back and sank her teeth into his neck. Desloun screamed in pain as Zephron ripped half his head off his shoulders, then jumped to the ground and snorted the nasty, foul-tasting blood out of her mouth and nose. She turned to look at the stumbling wolf. She had known that wouldn’t kill him, not right away anyways.
Samden jumped out from behind a tree and threw something at Sebastian, then said a few words and the wolf was gone.
Zephron collapsed to the ground.
“Aly!” Boone hollered as he rushed to the wolf.
Zephron looked up at Boone with a whimper. He looked into her sad eyes and wrapped his arms around her neck.
“I love you.” He whispered as he held her.
The wolf twitched as she began shifting into her human form. When Aly laid in his arms, he lifted her onto his lap and held her.
“Boone.” She cried as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She looked over to where Cyrus laid. “Cyrus.” She cried.
“I’ve got him.” Samden said as he rushed to his Alpha.
Aly looked up into Boon’s face. “Zephron is so sad. We almost lost you forever.” She said as she started to cry. “She is so confused; I’m having trouble keeping hold of her. I think I’m losing her.” She said with fear in her eyes.
“Shh, it will be okay.” Boone said as he rocked her.
“We should get Aly out of here.” Samden said as he walked over to them.
“Cyrus?” Aly asked as she tried to see around the witch.
“He will be fine. It is you who I am worried about.” Samden said as Boone stood with her in his arms.
“I’m fine.” She said with a cry.
“You’re not. Come.” Samden said as he led them out of the forest and into the clearing.
The fighting was still going on, but they paid no attention to it as Samden led Boone to the large kitchen.
“Set her on that table.” He said as he pointed to one of the tables in the large room.
Boone did as the witch said and laid Aly on the table.
“Don’t leave me.” Aly cried out when he started to back away.
“I am right here, Aly.” He said as he took her hand into his.
“What you described outside, is a disconnection with your wolf.” Samden said as he stood above Aly. “I am going to put you into a deep sleep, and you need to help her.”
“What does that mean? Disconnection with my wolf?” Aly asked confused.
“She is pulling away. She is scared, lonely, and confused. You must reach out to her.” Samden said as he started to sprinkle something over Aly’s body.
“Boone.” She cried as she felt her eyes start to droop.
“I am right here, Aly. I’m not going anywhere.” Boone said as he squeezed her hand.
Aly nodded slowly as she drifted off to sleep.
