When Mallory bumps into one of the two new kids, she realizes that the bad boy everyone has been talking about is none other than her dead best friend. Terrance was 8 years old when he was shot. He died in the hospital, or so everyone thought. He had vampire blood in his system when he died, so he came back as one. He couldn’t face his friends after the accident, so he left. And 10 years later he comes back, wanting to confess his feelings for his best friend: otherwise known as Mallory.

A Little Too Much

Hello! 🙃 Thank you for choosing to read my story. This is a story that I started writing a couple months ago so it’s a work in progress. This is my first story on Inkitt so it might take me a while to update so just bare with me. Anywho I will shut up and let you read! I hope you enjoy 😉

Mallory’s P.O.V.

I was running towards the slide of the playground trying to get away. Terrance was just a few feet behind me, but he was catching up. Getting closer by the second, ready to tag me so I could be it. He was so close, just about to tag me when ‘BANG!’

Then I woke up. Covered from head to toe, drenched in sweat. I looked around, only to find that I was in my bedroom and that I had just woken up from a nightmare. The same nightmare that has haunted me every night for the past ten years.

For as long as I can remember I have always blamed myself for Terrance’s death. I was mad knowing that I could’ve done something to save him. But after years of feeling this guilt, I knew there was nothing I could have done to save my best friend.

I woke up a few hours later, totally excited for my first day of senior year! Not. I got out of bed and made my way towards my bathroom to take a shower.

Since it was the first day of school and because the hot water felt amazing, I did not want to get out. But I had to face the outside world sometime today. Once I finally got all the soap off my body, I got out and dried myself off with a towel.

I wanted to look gorgeous for today, so I could catch the attention of my crush. Bryson Alexander. The star quarterback and golden boy of Barrett High School. So I pulled on a black crop top, my favorite pair of high waisted jeans, and my black slip on vans.

It was such a simple outfit but it definitely made me look more attractive. So I couldn't help but stare at the mirror. Once I stopped checking myself out, I grabbed my phone and went downstairs.

“Morning mom.” I said while putting a piece of toast in the toaster.

“Good morning sweetheart. How did you sleep?”

Uh oh. I couldn’t tell her the truth. If she found out I was having nightmares again, she would send me back to see a counselor.

“Good.” I grabbed my toast and sat down next to mom at the table. Just as I was about to take a bite out of my delicious food, my brother walked in the room.

“Let’s go Mallory.”

“Uhh. Can I finish my food first?”

He gave me an annoyed look. “No. Now hurry up, before I leave without you.”

I sighed, “Looks like I’m taking my breakfast to go.”

“No eating in my car!” Kaiden yelled from the living room. I groaned as I grabbed my bag and headed outside.

I stared at Kaiden while he drove us to school. Hands on the steering wheel, foot on the pedal, smirk on his face as he started speeding up.

“You do know that there’s a speed limit. Don’t you?” I said sounding annoyed.

“You’re right, there is.” He turned to look at me and then back at the road.

“And you do know that you’re not the boss of me.” He sighed, eyes still on the road. “You see Mallory.” He paused. “That’s where you’re wrong. I am the boss of you, whether you like it or not.”

I glared at him, crossing my arms across my chest. He knew exactly what to say and when to say it to really push my buttons. One of the many privileges of being my twin.

“What’s got you so mad anyway? Is it that time of the month?”

Giving him a look of disgust I said, “I’m mad because you made me skip breakfast. And yes. I started my day in a pool of my own blood. Would you like that to be how I end yours?” I said giving him a sinister look.

He glanced at me, saw the expression on my face and blanched. “Sheesh! Back off, I was only kidding.”

“Eyes on the road idiot!” I snapped.

He rolled his eyes. “Relax would you? We’re at a stop light.”

Getting tired of his stupid remarks, I leaned back in my seat, turning my head to face the window. I love Colorado. It reminded me a lot of Terrance. He loved the outdoors, so every weekend we went into the forest behind his house and played with all of our friends.

Going the same way to get to school everyday, starring out of the window. Taking in all of my surroundings made me realize just how much I actually miss him.

Anytime I can’t stop thinking about him I tell my brother and he’ll play me a song. I don’t know why, but music always seems to help make me feel better. “Kaiden? Can you play a song we can listen to?”

“Sure thing. Are you thinking about Terrance?” He asked while looking on his phone for a song to play.

“Uh huh”

A couple seconds later the song ‘A Little Too Much’ by Shawn Mendes started playing.

She would not show that she was afraid,
But being and feeling alone was too much to face,
Though everyone said that she was so strong...
What they didn’t know is that she could barely carry on.
But she knew that she would be okay, So she didn’t let it get in her way.
Sometimes it all gets a little too much,
But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up.
And you don’t have to be afraid, Because we’re all the same.
And we know that sometimes it all gets a little too much.
She would always tell herself she could do this.
She would use no help it would be just fine.
But when it got hard she would lose her focus.
So take my hand and we’ll be alright.
And she knew that she would be okay...
So she didn’t let it get in her way.
Sometimes it all gets a little too much,
But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up.
And you don’t have to be afraid, Because we’re all the same.
And we know that sometimes it all gets a little too much, yeah.
A little too much
I said a little too much, ohhh.
Sometimes it all gets a little too much,
But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up.
And you don’t have to be afraid, Because we’re all the same.
And we know that sometimes it all gets a little too much. Yeah!
Sometimes it all gets a little too much,
But you gotta realize that soon the fog will clear up.
And you don’t have to be afraid, Because we’re all the same.
And we know that sometimes it all gets A Little Too Much.

That song definitely made me feel better.

“We’re here sis.”

Great, school. At least I’ll have Brielle and Kaiden by my side. I mean what could go wrong?

Oh just you wait...

Thank you for reading! Just so you know I am fairly new to writing stories, so there will be mistakes. Also I chose this song to play because I thought it went nice with the story and how things will be in the next chapter! ‘Wink’ 😉 Anyways don’t forget to vote and comment. And I’ll see you in the next chapter!! 😘
