I'm running away from something huge. It's gaining on me. The woods are thick, so I can't see where I'm going. There! A clearing!
I skid to a stop at the river behind my home. The trees were so close together, I couldn't see my home. I turned around and heard a low, menicing chuckle. I crouched down near the ground and slowly took in my view.
It was midnight and the light shining on the branches made an eerie shadow across the ground. It looked as if an arm was reaching toward my right foot. A growl rang out through the woods, shaking the trees. Clouds moved slowly acrossed the sky, blocking out the moon.
In those two seconds a man came walking in my direction. When I could see again, I spotted a shadow from the corner of my eye, on the right. I growled as low as I could, letting my alpha aura roll over him. He lifted his chin and I sensed that he was a beta.
"What do you want?" I snapped at the figure.
He stalked towards me," Just wanted to see the beautiful-"
"Shut up!" My voice rang over the field and river. "Tell me why you are here."
He took a step out into the light and I gasped. He had jet black hair, pale skin, a black leather jacket, a white shirt, black jeans, and black work boots. The man had an oval- shaped face and was muscular.
I woke up in a cold sweat, panting. What was my brother doing in my dreams? I haven't seen him since I was right and he was twelve. He died in the fire that also killed my mom.
I walked into the bathroom and took a warm shower. After I got out I put on some dark green jeans, a black spaghetti- strap tank top that flowed away from my stomach, and pulled my dark red hair into a pony- tail. My light complexion had freckles all over it.
I went down the stairs and into the kitchen. My sister, Aria, was sitting at the counter with a bowl of cereal in front of her. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Your awake, finally."
I didn't return the smile. "I'm going for a walk."
I stepped out side, onto the sidewalk. I took out my phone and popped in my ear buds. Hallelujah by Panic At The Disco played. I hummed along, keeping my head down. This is my favorite song in my phone.
Twenty minutes later, on my way home, a guy came up behind me. I sensed him coming, as wolves do, and turned around to face him. I took out one of my ear buds and raised my eyebrow.
"H-hey! I-i j-just wanted to ask you when t-the meeting was."
I turned around and put my ear bud back in. He didn't make a move to leave, so I left him there. People tend to get intimidated by me, being and alphas daughter has its perks.
"How was your walk?" My sister asked from the kitchen.
I plopped down on the couch and sighed,"Fine. Just fine."
She came up to my and looked at, knowing that I was holding something back.
"I had a dream about Adam," I mumbled.
"Oh," she frowned," you okay?"
"'kay, get ready for the meeting tonight. Wear something..." She looked me up and down." Nice."
I wasn't too excited about the meeting, since my parents were going to be there. They abandoned us when we were eight. Who does that to a child?
My step mom said we were too strange to be part of the family, so they left us on the cabin on the edge of town that we owned. My sister has been the only mom figure to me and we are the same age! By the way, we are twins. We look alike, except Aria has dad's hair. Dark brown. We look more like our mom than our dad. I got mom's blue eyes and Aria got dad's green eyes, like Adam. He looks exactly like dad.
'How much longer till the meeting?' I asked my wolf, Cammy.
'One hour.' Cammy replied, monotone. She doesn't like our parents either.
Time to get ready than.
