I could remember that day vividly, my mum crying on the floor with her hands covered in velvet red blood from my dad. At that age I didn’t understand what was happening. I remember going into the kitchen to then see something that stayed edged in my heart till this day. The echo of my school bag clashing against the ground filled the kitchen. I went down on my knees to then see my father, my best friend lie there on the ground with blood seeping out his chest. My mum starred at a blank space with her eyes filled with fear, it looked as if she’d seen a ghost. I sat there lying on my mother’s lap as she softly ran her fingers swiftly going through my hair. A knock on the door broke the deafening silence. It was the cops they rushed in as we opened the door. I stood there frozen with fear as everything balanced out. It was like I was in a trance. ‘He was shot, quick everyone’ a cop shorted as he looked back and forth. The cops carried my dad out the house then my memory faded as the setting got blurry.
