The Final Sorceress

"The fate of this world rest in your hands" The Wise-man said "Yeah" I started "That is totally not a lot of pressure to put on the shoulders of a fifteen year old." The sarcasm dripped through my voice. Ondina was a simple girl, spent most of her days scrolling through Insta-spam, drawing, or hanging out with her best friend, Alex. That is until his dad gets taken away and they are dragged into another world full of all fairy tell myths, werewolves, vampires, princess and princes, and worst of all monsters. With the help of new friends and old, learning magic and how to fight, the two friends must find peace in this new world or hope for a way out.

Chapter 1

It all happened so fast, they came out of nowhere, and just took his life like it was nothing. I guess with serial killers, you shouldn’t expect anything more. We had just got back from my family’s get-away retreat, and this year I had asked if Alex could come.

Alex was my best friend. I’ve known him, since we were three. Alex had brown hair with eyes more on the greener side of hazel. He was ridiculously handsome and super gay. I know what you're thinking. Why are all the cute guys gay?

Alex and I were walking around the back entrance, mainly for the fact that it was closer to my apartment building, we walked through the back gate and his very large backyard, up the stairs of the wooden loft porch, through the back door. The house was a one-story house with a very high roof. Opening the back door to the kitchen, through to the dining room, which connected to his bedroom. He had a big room that contained a desk, posters, a bed, the classic teenage room. Then, from the dining room, there was the living room. That is where we found it. The cold, dead body of Alex’s father. We called the cops, and I started to comfort Alex.

“Hey, shh, it's okay, I’m here for you.” I started “Anything you need, I'm here. If you want to watch those cliche hallmark channel movies, or eat a shit tone of ice cream. Anything,” He smiled at me and I took him to his room, and we sat down on his bed. He cried for a good hour before he just couldn’t anymore.

I grabbed his laptop afterward and turned on Falling Inn Love. We had almost finished watching the movie when Alex fell asleep. I got up slowly to tuck him in, however, before I could he grabbed my arm.

“Stay” He stated in a groggy tone. I laid back down, and we curled up and went to sleep.

I woke up the next morning with an arm around my waist. I slowly sat up trying not to wake up the newly depressed guy next to me, though my plan surely failed. When I sat up, Alex groaned and slowly woke up.

“Shit, sorry, did I wake you up?” I asked which I got a small nod, "Sorry, how are you feeling today.”

“Slightly better, I guess” He sighed “I mean we didn’t have the best relationship, but he was still my dad, you know", I opened my arms for him to hug, and he gratefully accepted. We stayed like this for a minute, that was before the world opened up and tried to swallow me whole.

Okay, I should rephrase that last statement. I mean a glowing, sparkling, circling, pink and purple mist, opened in front of me, and tried to drag me into it. Alex grabbed my hand and tried to help me out, as I was screaming. Then both of us went through the weird vortex and everything went dark.

The vines parted and gradually made a pathway. I cautiously walked through, as the vines tried poking and prodding at me, but could never quite reach. Like reaching for the thing, you want most in the world, but just barely falling short, with the sad disappointment that followed. I strolled through the path that parted before me to an old man with a hood over his face. However, his voice seemed old and wise.

“Ondina Woods” He called, I mumbled a yes, “You have been called to these woods to save the fate of this world.”

“I’m sorry?” I questioned, "I'm afraid you have the wrong person. There must be another Ondina Woods in the world.”

“You are Ondina Woods, child to Chester and Kitty Woods, sister to Simon Woods, Correct?”

Shocked that this person knew so much about my family, I answered “Yes?”

“You don’t sound sure child?” The man questioned this.

“Yes, that is me. But... how do you know about my family?"

“Child, I know everything about this world and the next.”

“What do you mean in this world?”

“The world where fairy tail myths are a reality, however, this world is on the verge of being destroyed, and it is up to you to save it.”

“Hold up,” I started “I'm just a normal girl, I’m basic, I can barely decide what clothes to wear, let alone save an entire world.”

“You have more power than you know Child. The fate of this world rests in your hands” The Wise-Man said.

“Yeah” I started, "That is not a lot of pressure to put on the shoulders of a fifteen-year-old.” The sarcasm dripped through my voice.

The old man disappeared into thin air. The faint call of my name was being called from nowhere.

I woke up with a start, as Alex was calling my name like a crazy maniac. When I got a look at the view, it was beautiful. The grass was perfectly cut and green. The sky was a galaxy, and woods and cliffs with castles either surrounded us or were off in the distance.

“ONDINA!” Alex screamed at me, causing me to jump and jump out of my trace.

“What?” I asked.

“Look around us,” He said fear in his voice. I looked around us and noticed wolves slowly closing in on us.

I slowly turned around while the pack was slowly approaching us. I scanned the pack, till I met the eyes with golden-brown hair and gray-ish blue eyes. The wolf hesitated before continuing. It was slight, but it was there. How I noticed it, I do not know, but I did.

“Ondina? What do we do?“Alex asked.

“Honestly, Alex, I don’t have the slightest idea", I sighed, I reached out and grabbed his hand. This earned a low growl from one of the wolves.

The wolves started running fast at us and were getting ready to pounce. I don’t know what happened next, but right when the protective beasts attacked, I covered my face-terrible protection I know- and the wolves then bounced, nowhere more like thrown back.

“What just happened?” Alex asked. I wish I knew Alex. I wish I knew.
