"Hajjar, if one day I see your mother again, remind me to thank her for her kindness. I did not have the pleasure of seeing her before we left."
"Okay." Hajjar replied simply.
Kally sat down next to Hajjar and started playing with her fingers. She was nervous about what she was thinking and wondered if she should ask him.
"Forgive me, Hajjar, but can you tell me who Nehalla was?" You said she was your mate. Kally bit her lower lip right after she asked him.
Hajjar looked at her intently, irritated by what she dared to ask. He took a deep breath to control his mounting anger. Nehalla was a touchy subject for him.
"What do you think that mean, huh? Nehalla is, was my life, my better half. Stop asking me about her, it's none of your damn business!"
"Oh! I'm so sorry if I knew ..."
"Stop already! I don't need your pity! Did I make myself clear?" He asked her angrily.
"Please don't be mad at me. Wait a minute, you, your mother, and even Morfus said I have the same eyes as her. Is that why you are here? Do you see her in them? You think saving me, will you save her somehow?"
"Don't talk about things you don't fucking understand!"
"Don't worry, I understand perfectly, you're here by obligation and not for me!"
Tears started streaming down her cheeks as she walked faster so she could put some distance between them.
Hajjar grabbed her hand before she could pull away from him. He was going to wipe away her tears like he had done before, but Kally beat him by doing it herself.
"Forgive me, Kally. I didn't mean to make you cry." Hajjar told her while placing a lock of hair behind her ear.
"I'm sorry too. I don't know why I reacted like this?"
He let go of her hand and began to walk. She followed him as she blushed at the same time. Kally was grateful he hadn't seen her. The more she looked at him, the faster her heart beat.
They continued on their way, talking and laughing. Kally stopped abruptly and looked around. She saw a nearby pond which was surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers.
"Hajjar, can we stop here and swim? We could cool off."
"No way! We pangarions don't enjoy going in the water unless it's necessary."
"Too bad for you, I'm going anyway. What are you going to do during this time?"
"I'm going to look at the surrounding. Will you be long? You know we have to hurry ourselves."
"Don't worry, I won't be long. Now go away so I can undress and go swimming."
He chuckled when he noticed Kally was blushing after what she had told him. Hajjar leaned down to her level to look her straight in her eyes.
"What, don't you trust me?"
Hajjar laughed even more when he saw that she was blushing harder, looking at the ground.
With his thumb, he took her chin to lift her face so she could look into his yellow eyes.
"I'll leave you in your privacy, I won't be long. Please be careful. I don't want to save your ass so soon." He released her chin and Kally hid her face in her hand and quickly nodded.
She looked around to make sure Hajjar was no longer around her. She undressed and began to swim in the water. She dived into the water at least three times before she sensed someone was watching her.
"Must be in my imagination." She said to herself after looking around.
She got out of it and dressed even though she was still wet and did her best to wipe some water out of her hair with her hands.
While she waited for Hajjar to return, she was seated on the ground and watched the cloud above her.
While she waited for Hajjar to return, she sat on the ground and gazed at the cloud above her.
Out of nowhere, a shadow pinned her to the ground. Red eyes started on her. Kally screamed, hoping Hajjar would hear her, but the red-eyed being put one of his hands over her mouth to stop her.
Kally struggled with all her might to free herself from his grip and managed to bite her attacker's hand. She felt herself released from his weight and saw him leap from behind. She saw the red-eyed being receive blow after blow after blow.
"Hajjar, stop hurting him!"
Hajjar stopped right away and firmly held the red-eyed being to the ground.
"You are crazy? This fucking sergozard was hurting you!"
"I know Hajjar, but I bit his hand!"
"Well done for him."
"You don't understand! By biting him, I managed to open a wound and drink some of his blood before his wound healed.
"We cannot trust him." Hajjar insisted on this.
"And yet we must, we have no choice and you know it."
The segozard threw himself out of Hajjar's grip and managed to hit him in the face with a stone that he found beside him. He threw Hajjar away from him and rushed towards Kally. Before he had a chance to touch her, Kally's eyes glowed blue light for the second time.
"The second blood flowed in this body. Only two remain. All who share it can't harm this vessel. To protect it its his duty."
After her speech, the Segozard knelt before her and made no further movement while Hajjar came to his senses and witnessed what had just happened in front of him.
"Hajjar, I'm not feeling well. My arms are starting to burn, mmhmm! Help me, Hajjar, mmhmm!"
Hajjar ran to her side as she screamed and saw her arms begin to mutate. It all started at the top of her shoulders and continued until he reached her hands and fingers. Her skin turned into light blue lizard scales. The process was so intense that Kally passed out as before whilst Hajjar had time to grab her in his arm before she hit the ground.
Kally was disoriented when she regained consciousness. She looked around and found Hajjar guarding the sergozard.
"What the hell happened to me Hajjar?" She approached them as she spoke to him.
"Don't you remember?"
It was a bit hazy, but her memories came back to her and looked at her arms more closely.
"Is this going to happen to me every time I take blood from others?" First my eyes, then my arms, what's going to happen? Am I a monster? She couldn't stop asking as she panicked.
She sat down on the floor and hyperventilated. She was trying to breathe but couldn't. Hajjar knelt in front of her and grabbed her face so she could look at him.
"Focus on me, Kally. Take a breath and try to calm yourself down. I know you can do it." She did her best to do exactly what he told her.
"Believe me when I tell you that you are not a monster! You becoming what you meant to become." She nodded at him and smiled at his kind words.
"What's wrong with him?" Kally asked Hajjar after she felt better.
"I don't know? He hasn't moved since. It's like he's waiting for something."
Kally looked at the segozard and noticed that his whole body was covered in yellow and black lizard scales. Instead of hair, he had small yellow and black thorns.
"Kally, what are you doing?" Kally approached the sergozard.
"I just want to see what's wrong with him."
"Be careful, this could be one of his tricks."
"Always. Beside I have you to protect me."
Kally returned her attention to the Sergozard and put her hands on his shoulders. When the contact was made, the Sergozard suddenly moved. Hajjar's tail curled around Kally's waist and threw her behind him.
"To get to her, you have to go through me!" Hajjar warned him.
"Who is she?"
"None of your damn business."
"Hajjar calm down. You know he can't harm me anymore." Kally tried to reassure Hajjar.
Hajjar listened to Kally and released her from his tail.
