#7-The princess

All six turned away from where the newcomer had just passed. Kally noticed that the young sergozard had an olive green lizard scale and short orange hair. A gold diamond was drawn on her forehead. She was known as the princess.

"Saskna, what are you doing here? Go to bed to regain your strength, my child."

"I know mother, I feel a little better. I wanted to see you."

The queen looked at her daughter, then turned her attention to Nova and looked at her intensely.

"Don't even think about calling your brother with your cry. He won't be able to hear it from here."

The queen moved away from Nova and returned to Kally.

"Your friend here doesn't have the capacity to heal herself. If you don't answer my question, you won't be able to save her a second time."

Kally knew she had no choice, she had to give in to the Queen's request. She wouldn't risk Nova's life. She felt a connection with her. It probably has something to do with the fact that they both had the same eye color.

"I'll ask again. My patience is running out. How did you do it?" The queen referred to Kally's eyes and arms.

"It was by accident, I met Hajjar..."

"Oh! Hajjar what a specimen, mmmm, continue!" The Queen asked Kally to continue what she was saying.

Kally continued to tell her her story up until she met Sovack.

"That's how you stole Sovack from me. When you tasted his blood?"

Kally nodded to the Queen.

"Cough! Cough! Cough!"

Kally and the queen looked at the princess, who coughed deeply. She was struggling to catch her breath, and it took a lot of energy to get up.

"My child, you should go back to rest. What will others think if they see the princess so weak? They won't follow you, I can assure you."

"Cough! Cough! Cough! But mother, one day I'll take your place. How will I learn if I'm not here to see you in action?"

For a split second, Kally saw that the expression on the Queen's face had changed. She was annoyed by what Saskna had just said. There was no trace of pride.

"Cough! Cough! Cough!"

"I have enough! Four hundred and forty-two bring me the matyla. I'll brew your potion so you can drink it and feel better afterwards."

Kally was very surprised to find out that the queen had given maryla to the princess. Maybe she misunderstood the queen. If it was really maryla, how come the princess is still alive?

"If you really gave her the maryla, you're not helping her, but you are poisoning the princess."

The Queen was standing in front of Kally in the blink of an eye as she grabbed her by the throat. When Nova saw this, she wondered how she could help Kally before it was too late.

"Kally is the best option to save the princess. She can use her gift to heal like she did for me." Nova said the first thing that came to her mind.

The Queen saw the princess getting excited about what Nova just proposed and released her grab on Kally.

"Don't let this get into your head, my child. I'm convinced that what she said was a trick. They want you to put these ideas in your head, so they can make you worse. They know you are the next one to take my place, and they will do anything to make sure that doesn't happen.

"And giving her poison is better?" Sorry to tell you this princess, but the queen doesn't want your best interest.'' Kally answered right back.

The Princess studied the Queen and reflected on how her illness had started.

"Jakive, I am the princess, your future queen. I order you to watch the queen and if she tries anything stop her!'' Saskna ordered him as she decided.

He did exactly what his princess asked of him. She was more precious than the queen. She was the future, and the queen was the past.

"So tell me now, how does this all work?" Saskna questioned Kally suspiciously.

"I don't even know myself to tell you the truth. If I understand correctly, this will be my third attempt.''

Kally thought more about how she accomplished the healing process. She tried to memorize how she did it with Hajjar and Nova. She remembered that touch was the key.

"I'm going to have to get my hands on you to make the process work."

Jaquive didn't like what he had just heard. No one was allowed to touch the princess. He took a step towards them, but the princess held up her hand to keep him from coming closer.

"I told you to watch over the Queen! Don't let her out of your sight. This time you better follow my order." Jaquive nodded his head to the princess.

"If I help you, you must agree to let us go immediately."

"Why do you think I have that kind of power?" The princess asked her

"The way he obeyed you just now and the way he neglects his queen."

"Cough! Cough! Cough! Okay, we have an agreement. If you grant me this wish. I will have you both released without a delay."

Kally walked carefully in front of the princess so she wouldn't alarm Jaquive. Saskna stretched both her arms out in front of Kally.

It didn't take long for the scales on Kally's arms to vibrate as before and the color to become brighter. It amazed the princess at what she witnessed.

"Cough! Cough! Cough!"

Kally coughed more. She put each of her hands on either side of her head and sat down on the floor to keep her balance. Fortunately, it didn't last long, and she felt her strength return to her and the princess stretched her entire body.

"It's so good to feel whole again." Saskna said joyfully.

The princess looked at the queen in disappointment. The queen did not have time to defend herself as she had her throat slit with a sharp blow from none other than the princess herself, and before her wound healed, Saskna grabbed the queen and swallowed all her blood before the queen's heart stopped beating.

"Why did you do that? Why drink her blood?" Kally asked the princess.

"A long time ago I should have taken my mother's place, but I couldn't because as you know she poisoned me. I was too weak. I also had doubts because before me there were two princesses who suffered from the same faith as me, but they weren't so lucky. A queen has only given birth to one princess in her life because she takes her place as an adult. For blood, I took it so I can be connected to those who came out of her mouth. "

"So all the sergozards come from an egg when they come to this world, but not you?"

Saskna took the ruby that belonged to the old queen and placed it on her own forehead to announce that she was now the queen.

"When the queen comes to a certain age in her life, a fetus comes from inside her and it is born naturally. Now enough with the questions. Go ahead before I change my mind and tell Sovack that He's no longer welcome here. He is all yours. Jaquive will accompany you to the exit. Looking forward to never seeing you again."
