Chapter 163: Linked Memories

Luna’s POV:

*6 days later*

The seduction of his body, his touch, his words were euphoric, I couldn’t stop tasting him. Within the hours they quickly turned into days as our bodies kept mixing as one, the sudden rapid of my heartbeat skipped tremendously high. Yet my mind replayed back to when I was unconscious, that moment when I felt so alone in the darkness, the hearing of her voice echoed through my ears again.

“Protect him...”

“Luna, what’s wrong?”

Felix asked in concern, his body shifted slightly on top of me and he inched himself closer to my face. Even with my body still trembling, I held on to Felix’s body feeling frighten. He looked very surprised by my actions and that’s when he decided to finally lay down next to me. Pulling me in a tight embrace, he looked into my eyes while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

“You might think I’m crazy when I say this, but when I was unconscious. I heard a voice, a girl’s voice, she was speaking to me. Asking me to protect, Crow.”

As I said that, the expression on Felix’s face grew a bit serious as he loosened his hold on me.

“I didn’t see who it was exactly in my mind, but she sounded very desperate for my help-”

“Luna, the women’s voice that you heard. Was Crow’s mother, you’re not crazy. It’s just that a demon’s memory carries a fragment of every witch or warlock they’ve possessed in their past lives. That’s why when you accept a contract with them, you’re accepting not only the bits of memories they hold from the past but as well as the power they have also.”

He spoke as calmly as he could, I’m sure he didn’t want me to freak out since he gave me some time to sink it all in. But at this point, I shouldn’t overreact to what I got myself into. I chose to become a demon, so that means their’s consequences that I need to face...

“Crow’s mother, so some of her memories are entwined with mine. I understand now, this demon inside me once belonged to her but, what do you mean by power?”

And as I asked that, Felix finally released his arms around me and immediately got out of bed. He then began to change back to his clothes with an uneasy look on his face...

“Is something wrong?”

I eagerly asked him as I sat myself up while clenching the bed sheets against my chest.

“There are just some things that I think Raven will have a better way of explaining it, in fact, I’m sure they’re already waiting for us. From the moment you awaken, I’m certain that Crow let everyone know that you were okay.”

He said as I watched him button up his shirt, so as I stood up I decided to change as well and reached for my clothes that were on the floor.

“I see, I need to remember that Crow could hear us. Though I wonder if he was listening to us these past few days?”

I questioned in a light chuckle trying to brighten Felix’s mood. I understand that he’s worried for me, but he needs to know that he doesn’t need to anymore. So once I finished changing, I approached him and grabbed hold of his hand. He then looked at me and gave me a light smile as he tightened his grip...

“Who knows?”

He answered back in a smirk as he led us out of the room, and for some reason, I was becoming nervous the closer I got to meeting everyone again. I wonder what their reactions will be-

“Luna, you’re really okay!? You had no idea how hard it was for me to sleep every night, Raven wasn’t allowing anyone to come to see you! It wasn’t fair that Felix was able to!”

Once Felix opened the door, I was quickly greeted by Priscilla’s sudden hug! It amazes me how light of a feather Priscilla feels! Letting go of Felix’s hand, I made sure to carefully hug her back. The feeling of her tears running down her cheeks soaked my shoulder, patting her back delicately, I tried to calm her as I looked around the room to see Raven, V, and Seporaha sitting down. All of their sights were on me and they looked a bit amazed at how different I looked. But my eyes were still wandering around the room in search of Crow, and to my surprise, he wasn’t there. The loud sniffles brought me back to Priscilla’s attention as I tried to look at her face. So I moved my palms towards her face and gently had her look at me...

“I’m sorry I worried you, but I’m really okay now. Thank you, Priscilla. I don’t think I’ll be here if it wasn’t for your help along with everyone else.”

I thanked her in a grateful smile, but that only made her cry more as she snuggled into my arms!

“Priscilla can you stop crying already, Luna wasn’t suffering at all during these last few days. I’m sure it’s been quite the opposite,” Sephora spoke out in a playful tone as she gave Felix and me a wicked smile.

“Who would have known a human could transform into something like us, you amaze me, Raven. But please, don’t ever do this type of magic again. It’s taboo for a reason, humans should stay like humans, and devils should stay like devils. However, this will be the only exception I’m willing to accept.”

V bluntly stated as he kept staring at me...

“Couldn’t agree more, I know that I would rather still be human. But it’s not like I was given much of a choice...”

I said loud and clear enough for everyone to hear, I then looked down and gave a deep sigh.

“You’re beautiful...”

I stuttered out in surprise by Priscilla’s sudden compliment. Letting go of my arms, she began to run her fingers through my long white hair in amazement.

“Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to say that so loudly! I just-”

“It’s okay, I haven’t gotten used to my new look. It’s just something I need to get used to now...”

I quickly said in a calm matter as I watched her pull her hand back apologetically.

“Of course she would be beautiful, that’s what happens when you make a contract with a powerful demon. The stronger it is, the more breathtaking you become. Just take a good look at the Kings Family, they’re a perfect example.”

Sephora pointed as I started to walk past her.

Priscilla called out my name in confusion once I came to a halt in front of Raven. She was calmy drinking something and never left her eyes off her book.

“Is there something you need?”

She asked while turning the page.

“I need to thank you, for everything you’ve done for me-”

“There’s no need to thank me, I was only following the orders that Lord Felix gave me.”

She said while placing her drink down.

“Very well then, Raven. Can you please explain to me what my power is and what it does?”

I asked sounding anxious, the feeling of Felix’s hands soon rested on my shoulders as he came up from behind me. I instantly loosened my tensed body and exhaled deeply...

“Did you not tell her, Felix?”

V asked as he stood up from the chair.

“I think it best if she hears it from Raven herself. After all, Raven knows this demon inside Luna better than anyone, even Crow.”

Felix explained as he firmly held on to me.

“Very well, if that’s what you want. Then I’ll explain everything, Luna. Pay very close attention to what I’m about to say.”

Raven spoke out as she closed the book in front of her and set it down near the table. She then stood up and faced my direction and began to explain everything from what power I possess and how dangerous it could become. Once she finished speaking, I wasn’t sure how long I stood there in silence. I knew that every King’s Family member had a unique power they controlled, but I didn’t think my power could be so frightening. To be able to see one’s future, not being able to change their fate, I could see why it could become so dangerous. I could easily lie to everyone about what will happen to them. Even if I’m able to only see small fragments of images of what they’re doing. It is still unbelievable that I can do that...

“This isn’t a power that you must fear. It’s a part of who you are now, you must accept it. Because if you dare try to fight against it, your demon will try and control you, and you will lose your sense of reality. Take Elijah for example, he fought against his father’s demon for so many years until he finally came to accept it. So it’s best if you get comfortable with this new power of yours.”

She spoke out her advice, and it made sense for me to take it. I mean, I’ve seen firsthand what happened to Elijah when he lost control. It was terrifying, so I can’t fight it!

“Here, let’s practice.”

She said while quickly grabbing my hand and placing it on her chest where her heart would be! I was stunned by her actions and was held speechless!

“what, now?!”

“Raven, I don’t think-”

“Felix, you know how important this is. Luna must experience and adjust this new ability of hers. Remember what I told you and Crow, that you both will have to take responsibility for Luna in whatever happens to her.”

Raven explained in a stern tone as her eyes stared harshly at Felix. He then released his hands off of me and I watched as he went to stand next to me. He gave me a reassuring smile as he nodded his head...

“Okay, I’ll give it a try.”

I stuttered out my words feeling more nervous...

“Good, now close your eyes. And block out everything other than the sound of my heartbeat. Listen closely, and feel the image of my life running through you’re mind...”

Following her instructions, I did what I was told and concentrated very carefully. I zoned out all of my surroundings until the heat of her warm heart was all I could feel. Soon the image of a dark abyss came over me as I witnessed the sight of something terrifying happening to Raven! It all happened so quickly, but a heavy mist of darkness came over her body until everything just ended into a blank image of nothingness! What is this, what’s going on!?

I shouted at the top of my lungs as I pushed Raven back and fell to the floor looking mortified! Felix then hurried himself to hold me as I looked up at Raven with tears in my eyes!

“Luna, what is it?! What’s wrong-”

“It’s best if you don’t ask her what she saw, some things are better left unsaid. Right, Luna?”

Raven said with a calm expression, yet her eyes never looked so lonely before. If this is really what my power is, to see the fate of someone’s life?! If so, then I will always hate this power of mine, I don’t want to know the future of what will happen! How am I suppose to tell Raven that I watched her die, is there nothing to prevent it?!

“Luna, it’s okay, look at me. It’s over, you don’t need to think about it anymore-”

“How can you say that so easily!? I can’t just pretend I didn’t see anything! Raven, are the images that I see of everyone’s future, accurate? Can it not be changed?!”

I desperately asked as I felt my hands shaking!

“One can never change one’s fate, things must happen for a reason. And whether the images you will see in others are good or bad. You must accept it for what they are...”

Raven explained as she went to sit back down and continued to read her book.

“Luna, you don’t have to use your abilities, as long as you accept them for what they are. You’ll be okay...”

I heard Priscilla say as she crouched herself down to hold my hand.

“Yeah, you’re right...I’m sorry. I told myself I wouldn’t overreact, yet here I am panicking...”

I responded in a light chuckle trying to make myself feel better. Wiping my tears away, Felix helped me get back up on my feet. I shouldn’t make it a bigger problem for Raven, she already seems to come to accept what her life is. I shouldn’t interfere with that, she seems at peace already so there’s no reason for me to ruin that for her. It’s just gonna be hard to get that image out of my head, I just hope she isn’t hurting in the end...

“Well, it’s up to Luna to decide what she wants to do with her power. I know that she is going to see images that she’s doesn’t wish to see, but there could also be good things that could come out of it. Not everyone will have a tragic ending in their life, but if Luna wishes to never use it, then so be it.”

Sephora explained in a deep sigh as she got up from her seat and left the room.

“The point is, you’re here, you’re alive. And that’s what matters.”

V spoke out next as he approached me and flicked my forehead. He then to followed Seporha out of the room...

“Yeah, so just focus on being happy from now on! You could finally start your new life and not have to worry anymore.”

Priscilla said in a smile, she then went and took a seat next to Raven and look at the book she was reading.

“You’re no longer that weak little human girl you once were, you’ve changed into something so strong and became more beautiful because of it,” Felix commented as he wrapped his arms around me, leaning my head against his chest I finally felt the comfort I’ve been longing.

What everyone was telling me was very sweet, I shouldn’t have to hang on to anything that will worry me nor do I have to use my power if I don’t want to. I’ll just focus on things that matter and the first thing that keeps running through my mind is what Crow’s mother said to me. She asked me to protect her son, and that he is the rightful heir to the throne. I also did make a promise to him that when I came back here, we could finally talk to each other about our past. So I looked back at Raven and asked her...

“Where’s Crow?”
