I ran and ran until my legs caved in from beneath me and I collapsed to the ground; my instincts were screaming at me to get up and keep going knowing I still wasn’t safe.
Exhaustion washed over me like a slap to the face. ”It was just a dream, it was just a dream” I repeated to myself trying to calm my rapid heart. Aggravated, I trudged toward the shower. (Ten minutes later)
I guess I should give you some back story, my name is Lysandra and I’m seventeen years old. My parents abandoned me when I was a baby; I live with my foster parents Sharon and Andrew.
High on drugs and alcohol they would take their anger out on me sometimes it was beating other times it was the method of starvation, delightful right? “Lysandra get down here right or else I will beat you until there is nothing left to beat” screamed my foster mother Sharon. Silently cursing her as I went; I descended the stairs with feminine grace, grabbed my backpack and set of to school.
I live five minutes from school so it’s a short walk, but only then did I have a creeping suspicion that I was being watched.
Increasing my pace, I turned the corner and went into the forest. When I was a child I would go out and explore every day, so you could say I know these woulda like the back of my hand.
Almost in a run, I twisted and turned until I was nearing my favourite lake. Suddenly I turned around and screamed at the top of my lungs “Come out here and face me you, coward!” A dark figure emerged from the deepest parts of the forest.
He wore a black mask, covering half of his face, along with black ripped jeans, a white t-shirt and a leather jacket.
“Hello Lysandra.” I snorted, god if that isn’t every opening horror/chick flick line then I don’t know what is.
“Umm hi, if you don’t mind me asking, who are you?” Inside I was panicking like crazy but in the out side I was a calm as a cat.
"The only thing you need to know is that my name is Luca and you need to follow me." Not trying to be rude or anything but, who does he think he is. He currently isn't my mother. Anyway, Luca turned on his heel and marched straight into the forest once again. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go with this strange Luca character or if I didn't. Weighing my pros and cons, I found that I had a lot more pros than cons. What do I have to lose anyway, crappy parents and a crappy school, I don't mind losing those.
So I decided to follow Luca, to be honest I didn't really care where we're going as long as it's away from that awful house hold
