Chapter eleven - Beta Jackson

*Kiara's POV*

A whole month since I'd started staying in this mansion and only a piece of information. The dinner that was to take place tomorrow. Apart from that, I was dry. How was I supposed to take down an alpha with no leverage. Goddess, help me.

I was currently performing my morning duties but not in my usual spot because the roster had been rearranged since one of our chief maids, Agatha died. She'd died what was called "a natural death". True, by the way. But, I couldn't help but think about all the stress she had to take and the kind of weights she'd have been carrying on her frail shoulders. She was a really nice woman. I didn't talk to her much. Hell, I didn't talk to anybody much but, the few times I spoke or sat with her, it felt like I was being washed with kindness and love. She'd once told me I was really pretty and that I shouldn't think of my situation as a "problem" because there were greater things in store for me. Much greater things. I didn't know what she meant but I smiled and nodded my head. Now, she was gone and although I didn't know her that well, I felt like I'd lost something special all over again.

My day was pretty much already ruined and probably nothing would change it.

"Hey there, pretty" a voice said.

It was a man who looked to be in his early twenties. He had muscles and curves in the right places and his slicked back hair made his gray eyes even more enticing. In short, he was a motherfucking work of art. But like I said my day was already ruined and not even some Greek god could change it.

"And you are?" I demanded as coldly as possible.

I heard a gasp and turned my head to see one of the servants looking at me with a horrified facial expression. What the hell was wrong with her? I didn't care anyway, I turned my head back to the person I was talking to.

"I believe I asked a question" I reminded the man.

"A simple hi would've been a better approach but to hell with all that" he said "I'm Jackson" he added.

"Okay" I said and then went back to sweeping.

His grey eyes started to glow which meant he was being mind linked.

"I have to leave now but I'll find you again, I promise"

I looked at him blankly and he looked right back at me with an understanding look on his face.

"This is our first time meeting, right?" He asked.

"Yeah, why?" I asked

"Nothing. Just to be clear you don't know me right?" He asked again.

"No, I don't. Now please go away"

He left for wherever he was going and I continued my morning work. It was time for our lunch break and then I had only a few more duties so I'd have enough time to help Diane find a dress, wash my ceremonial apron and get a good night's sleep.

I had just dropped of my cleaning supplies at the storage closet and was on my way to the kitchen where I would wash my hands and have my lunch. I was only a few steps from the kitchen when a figure jumped in front of me. Literally.

"What the fuck!?" I asked

"I did promise you I would find you and I didn't see a reason not to make an entrance. It's kind of my specialty, you know. Did I scare you?"

"No, you just almost gave me a heart attack. What the fuck dude?"

"I'm just joking around. Come on, lighten up Kiara"

"Yeah, joking." I replied. Then I paused. I replayed his statement in my head and then I thought it over again until it hit me. I never gave him my name. Now, how did he know that?

"How do you know my name?"

"You gave it to me"

"No, I didn't"

"Yes, you did"

"I didn't. Now tell me how the hell you know my name."

"Okay, okay. You know how you were kidnapped after the Decima?"

How couldn't I? What kind of question was that? Who doesn't remember their own kidnapping? It's been just a month and a few days, but the memory was still fresh. So fresh, it felt like yesterday.

"Yeah, go on" I prodded him.

"Well, after the Decima, I was sent to follow you. You probably sensed me when I was trailing you."

"So, it was you"

"I knew it would be a dick but I never thought he'd be so stupid to come to face me"

"Kiara, I'm really sorry"

After that statement, I'd decided I'd had it that day. My eyes started to glow as True started to fight for control. She didn't need to fight, I gave her control, willingly. I might as well have just pushed control into her hands. We'd both sworn revenge and this idiot had stumbled right into our laps. I growled and was about to start shifting when a voice called out my name.

"Kiara! Kiara what are you doing?" I snapped my head only to see Diane.

My nerves relaxed immediately and True crept into the back of my mind.

"Kiara, are you okay?" She asked.

She came up to me and pulled me into a sisterly hug. I felt at ease almost immediately. She looked up and saw Jackson in front of me.

"You?" She asked.

"Me" He replied with a grin.

"When did you get back?"

"Yesterday evening"

"So, is that why you're bothering her?"

"Aww, come on D, don't be like that"

"Jackson, you might be Beta, but you will learn your place and you will respect your superior.

The grin on his face was wiped off immediately and I was satisfied. Served him right!

"My apologies, Lady Diane"

"You're forgiven" she said "Now what are you waiting for? Get out!" She added.

He left silently without another word and Diane walked me to her room.

Whooshhhh! Is anyone else loving Diane's protectiveness as much as I am? Probably not😂😂Do you think Beta Jackson was wrong to tell Kiara or Kiara overreacted. Because I for one, think she'd have probably ripped his head off if not for Diane😂 Don't forget to vote, comment and follow me for update notifications.
