Chapter twenty two - Ceremonies

*Calvin's POV*

Kiara and I stood at the doorway of my room, still hugging each other tightly. My shirt was wet from her tears but I didn't care. It felt like it was just us in that moment, like, nothing else existed and it was beautiful. Some would've called it cheesy but the love I had for her, could last for an infinite number of moons and it would keep on burning brighter and brighter. Never dimming, not even once!

We held on to each other for what felt like forever, it felt like eternity or an infinite number of moons. Go ahead, keep on calling me cheesy, I don't even care anymore. I could as well just say, hey, I'm Calvin and I don't give a fuck what you think cause this woman is the love of my life and I'm madly in love with her.

Eventually, we pulled apart and as I looked straight into her teary eyes, she looked right back into mine and even with her swollen eyes and lips and red cheeks, she still looked like the most beautiful woman in the world. In fact, she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

I used my thumb to wipe her tears away and remembered the reason I came to see her.
"Umm...I brought you some clothes." I said, rapidly wiping the tears on my face.

"I can see that." She replied with her ever musical laugh.

She took the clothes from my hand and placed them on the bed. She walked back towards me and hugged me.

"Thank you" She whispered gently into my ear and then pecked my cheeks.

"You're welcome" I replied.

"Well, I have to bathe now so..." She said, dragging the "o".

"So, what?" I asked politely.

"So, privacy, idiot" she replied with a light laugh.

"Oh" I said, realising. "Bye then" I replied.

I closed the door and had a quiet walk down the halls until I saw the last person on my mind. A person I'd seen just between a day or two ago; my sister, Diane. She stopped directly in front of me, blocking my way.

"What do you want?" I seethed.
Honestly, I had no personal issues or problems with Diane but since Kiara told me about her and Diane's story, her grudge had become my grudge.

"Calvin, relax. I just want to talk to Kiara."

"No, not after what you did to her." She hurt my mate emotionally and now she wanted to talk to her. I wouldn't even let her have a look at Kiara.

Diane's facial expression started to change and it transformed into one of anger. How dare she? She hurt Kiara and she wants to be mad at me!? I got so angry that I growled loudly at her. She shuddered at my sight and immediately calmed down.

"Since you won't let me talk to her, I just want you to know that dad wants to see you both 10:00 am sharp. Now if you'll excuse me, I have someplace to be." She said politely and walked out of my presence.

I immediately felt bad and forced myself to calm down. I mean, this was Diane. Whenever the whole family had taunted me, I'd never missed her sympathetic looks. She was good but I don't know why she didn't show it.

"I'm sorry." I called out to her.

"No problem." She replied as she turned back to face me with a smile on her face which I returned. She turned again and walked as I walked to my room too.

*Kiara's POV*

I walked out of the bathroom after taking a long and relieving bath. I'd never taken so long in the bathroom but it felt so good to do so. Probably because I'd never used a bathtub. Plus the biscuits! The biscuits were so good. At first, it felt weird to have biscuits in the bathroom but after I tasted them, it felt just right.

I dried off and put on the clothes Calvin had brought me. As usual, they were my exact size. I walked out of the room in search of him. I walked around a bit before deciding to use my sense of smell. I found his scent and tracked him to a room. I opened the door and there he was, lying comfortably on the bed, freshly showered, with a broad grin on his face. I couldn't help but laugh at him. I made my way towards the bed and rested my head on his right shoulder and he wrapped the same hand around mine.

I laid there wondering how I got so lucky to be blessed with a mate just like him. He was perfect, like everything I'd ever wanted packed into one human body. I looked at him and noticed his smile begin to drop gradually.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Kenneth asked to meet us and obviously, it's about the whole leadership thing."

"Well then let's go" I replied agitatedly.
Kenneth had taken enough from me. I'd planned to stand up to him and decline his offer.

"If we disagree, things might not go as planned. My father, Kenneth, he's a dirty player and I don't want you to get hurt."

"Whatever happens, we'll deal with it." I assured him.

"Strangely, I trust you. Okay, let's go." He replied.

We got out of the bed and walked to Kenneth's office.

We got to Kenneth's office and I knocked on the door. We were about to kick him out of his position so, the least we could do was be polite.

"Come in" a voice from the inside answered.

Calvin took my hand in his and we entered the room.

"It's not 10 o'clock yet you know." Kenneth said not looking up from whatever he was doing.

"Well, I can't wait till 10:00. My mind is already made and I don't want anymore problems that'll end up delaying this meeting again.

"Then I suppose we'd better get on with it. What's your final decision?" Kenneth asked.

"I do not accept any part of your deal. My decision is that you step down, Calvin becomes Alpha, Dwayne takes over Ty's pack and marries Daphne and you can get some money to take care of yourself and family or just go and live at Ty's pack. Yeah, that's better, you leave for Ty's pack and never return. That is my decision."

"Wow, I was really hoping you'd accept my offer but oh well, I guess I have been Alpha for too long. I'll make an announcement and inform the pack about the ceremonies that'll take place today." Kenneth replied.

"Okay then." I said. "Bye." I added

"Yes, bye."

I dragged Calvin's arm and we exited the room.

About six hours later, I was in my room getting ready for the ceremony. Calvin just came in, already dressed in his blue tux and black shoes. He'd brought in a dress which he ordered for me. I went into the bathroom and put it on and then came back into the room to fix my hair and makeup.

"Help me" I said to him, struggling to zip my dress. It was a blue sleeveless, A-line, straight dress with a split just 2 inches above my knee. It fit me in all the right places and like always, it was my size.

He walked towards me and helped me zip up.

"Thank you" I replied.

I stood in front of the mirror adjusting my shirt and brushing my hair. I gelled and styled it until it was just right.

"How do I look?" I asked Calvin.

He didn't reply. He just stood there, looking at me.

"Too much?" I asked him, my feelings already hurt.

"You're perfect." He finally answered. "In fact, perfect is an understatement. You look so, unbelievable. Just like every other day."

My heart melted at his words and I blushed.

"Thank you." I replied sheepishly.

"So, shall we go?" He asked.

"Yes, yes we shall." I replied.

The ceremony had already started and we (the ruling family) proceeded into the ballroom.

We took our seats at the head table and Kenneth and Calvin sat at the two highest seats directly opposite each other.
I sat at his right hand side and the ceremony started. I hadn't eaten since morning and when food was placed on our table, it took every vein of control I had to stop myself from digging in.

A few minutes later, a figure showed up and sat down beside me, a figure who's presence I'd felt for a long time but decided to ignore. A person I'd never expected to see ever again. Diane. She'd been sitting a few inches away from me but apparently, she'd switched with the person who was sitting beside me.

"Kiara" she said as softly as possible "We need to talk" She added.

"I have nothing to say to you" I replied.

"Well, I have a lot of things to say and explain to you."

"In that case, you can start with how you betrayed me."

"I'm sorry about that. I really am but I promise you, I never faked any of the love I had for you"

"Oh, really now?" I asked.

We were currently talking in whispers because Kenneth's farewell speech was apparently very important.

"I'm serious, Kiara. In fact, I'm here to help you take Kenneth down. We both know he's going to play dirty at some point."

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I said, feigning ignorance.

"Your wolf told mine, you can't deny it."

"Of all lies to tell, Diane, of all fucking lies to tell, you came up with that!?"

"I'm not lying, Kiara. I swear to the moon goddess."

No one dares to swear to the moon goddess in vain. No matter how bad they were.

I began to wonder if she was telling the truth. I decided to ask True.

"True, is this true? Have you actually been talking to Diane's wolf?" I mentally asked her.

She didn't reply, I continued to pay attention to Diane's ranting but unfortunately I didn't get any of it.

"Stop, please, rewind, I didn't hear anything you said."

"I said our wolves are sisters."

"What!?" I asked unable to believe.

"True!" I yelled.

"It's all the truth. I'd wanted to tell you but...well, the thing is, I and my sister don't get along that well."

"Ohh" I replied her realising it wasn't her fault. "So, Diane didn't fake it."

"That's what I'm trying to say".

"Okay then." I said as I felt her sign out.

"So, Kiara, do you now see that I've always really loved you?" Diane questioned.

"Yes, I do." I said.

"I'm sorry for making you feel however you felt." she said.

"So am I."

"Friends...again?" she asked.

"Friends again." I said with a light laugh.

Ouuuuu😍😍Diane is back in the pictureee. And am I the only one loving Calvin and Kiara's energy?🤩
