Chapter twenty eight - Finally

*Kiara's POV*

It's been barely two days since Kenneth attacked and we were still at Andrea's place. Literally cleaning up. We were wolves but we weren't savages. Of course, we would clean up. After the war, there were still others from Kenneth's side left so, we made them do the cleaning. We separated our casualties from their casualties. Thankfully, theirs were more than ours.

I stood by Calvin who was gently leaning on me. His left leg was pretty banged up thanks to his father and brother. It had been a really long fight but he came through. I couldn't even express my joy when he walked into my room that day. I had spoken to the actual moon goddess. I hadn't told him about it since then but I was planning on telling him soon.

“Hey, hey”

“Huh?” I said absentmindedly.

“Earth to Kiara?” Calvin said.

“Oh, sorry, I was just...”

“Lost in thought?”

Ever since that incident, well, his death. He's seemed a little more concerned about me and I'm scared that when he came back to life, he didn't come back as he was but it's the goddess right? He's probably fine and I'm just being irrational.

“Let's go inside. Andrea says we need to talk.”

“Okay. ”

We walked inside the building, hand in hand, straight towards our “planning room”. It was sort of our office now since we were the new Alpha's or were we Alpha and Luna? We hadn't sorted that out yet. Anyway, Andrea suggested that we start preparing for our return to the pack grounds. And honestly, I'm not so sure I'm ready for that.

I opened the door and entered quietly, not facing or looking at anyone. We were late and of course, we were mortified. Well, I was mortified, I wasn't sure about Calvin. I looked back for a second only to find him looking at me strangely. I turned my entire self around just to look at him. Unfortunately, my old friend, the floor, who had missed me called out to me. I tripped over something and fell flat on my butt. Well, I would have fallen down if it weren't for Calvin. Okay, fuck all my old thoughts about him changing. He's still the same hero, my hero and he'll always be here to save my shitty little clumsy ass. He pulled me up by my hands and I saw him wince just a little before I was back on my feet.

There was a fairly long rectangular table across the room and there were two chairs on the longer side and one chair each on the shorter side. Being the Alpha, which made me feel a bit queasy, I sat on the highest chair and Calvin sat on the one directly opposite me. I looked at all the faces in the room and gladly, they were only the familiar ones. In order of current power it was just Jackson, Andrea, Diane and Seth. Just beside me, on my left side, I could see Diane snickering. She tried to hide it but unfortunately, she failed. She was still laughing at clumsy me. Honestly, I hated being the “most important” as they had all said. It was really taking a toll on me. I wasn't really the spotlight type.

I cleared my throat and began gently,
“So, our first order of business is?...”

“Well, it's moving back to the pack grounds but most importantly, it's about you and Calvin deciding who gets to be Alpha.” Diane said.

“Nah, I don't think so, I think it's about you deciding when we get to share the pack money and how we share it.” Jackson replied.

“Excuse you?” Andrea stated immediately.

“Well, yeah. You know Kenneth's gone now and he was very discreet about these things so, obviously, Kiara will be too. We'll just have to tell better lies so they don't suspect us.” he continued.

I looked at Calvin who was possibly leaning on his last thread of control. If I hadn't stopped him, I know he would have ripped Jackson into millions of pieces right on the spot. Kenneth had been a terrible leader, splitting the pack money and all and Jackson had thought we would do same. I decided to play along.

“Well, duh, I think I and Calvin can manage a fifty percent, while the rest of you can share the other fifty. Or what do you think, Andrea?”

Fortunately for us, Andrea understood immediately and played along quite well.

“You know, just because you're Alpha doesn't mean you should give us such a little amount to share. I didn't take any of it while Kenneth was still alive but now that he's gone, I'm definitely going to get my piece of this... what's it called? Yeah, “National Cake”. And besides, did you really think risking my life, and property was for free? Uh uh, sista none of it is free. Y'all 'gon pay for it.” She said.

Damn! This woman was rich, smart and a great actress as well. I was so jealous.

“Okay, okay, no need to get all ruffled now. Calvin, dear, I think we know what needs to be done now.” I said with a sly smirk.

“Of course.”

“Jackson Cooper, you are hereby demoted to the position of Omega” I said making sure to let him know that I didn't take my role as Alpha lightly.

“And you are banished from the Lynx pack never to return again.” Calvin finished.

I saw Jackson cry out in pain and a cut appeared on his right palm. He knelt on the floor and then blue and red blood started seeping from the cut until it was only red blood left. He'd been demoted and all that power, all that blood, it just flowed down his arm and onto his clothes. Once there was no longer a drop of blue blood left in his veins, his palm literally healed itself back and he was back to normal. I felt bad for him and wanted to lessen his punishment but True kept me in check, telling me that if we kept him in the pack, even as a weak Omega, he could go to the extreme by searching for powers to help him out just to get to us. I understood her immediately and looked away for a second just so that my thoughts of pity would fly out the window.

By the time I looked again, Jackson had left the room and I couldn't feel his presence anymore. I looked at Andrea who was expressionless at the moment. I realized that they were all right. I couldn't keep asking them “what next?” I was the fucking Alpha for goddess sake. I could do whatever I wanted.

I was about to speak when I heard a knock on the door.
“Come in.” I said.

A young man came into the room. I recognized him in a way. He was one of Kenneth's supporters, well now, my follower.

“Is there a problem?” I asked him politely.

“None, ma’am. I just came to inform you that we're done clearing up the field. Everything is clean. We've burnt the bodies of the opposing party's members and have piled up ours for proper burying. The coffins arrived not long ago and we've put one body in each coffin and laid the bodies in the prepared tomb. Everything is set for us to go, ma’am.”

“You’re scared of me. I assure you that I'm nothing like Kenneth. You may leave.” I said.

He left the room without hesitation. I turned to face the people before me and said,

“You know what, I'm feeling like a party tonight.”
