I woke up to the chirping of birds and the sun shining brightly even through the curtain blinds. I remembered the events of the last night and I smiled to myself. Now, I actually had the right to call her my mate cause we were, you know, mated.
Andrea mind linked me and told me that we had only an hour before takeoff. Not like a flight or anything by the way, it was just time for us to return to the pack and start our life afresh as the Pack's leaders.
Kiara turned and I could see the mark on her neck, my mark. There for all to see and know that she was mine. I tapped her lightly to wake her up and she groaned in protest. Note to self: She's not a morning person. I shook her over and over again until she finally answered.
“What!?” She asked groggily.
“It's time to get up, sleepyhead.” I replied her.
“Because we have one hour to get ready and back to the pack in time for your inauguration.”
I looked at her, confused because of her statement. Her expression was blank but unfortunately for her, we were mates now and I could hear every thought in her pretty little head. But immediately I heard what she was thinking, I disagreed immediately.
“No! No, No, No, No, No! Absolutely not!”
“It's your destiny”
“We're mates. We're practically bound together Calvin, it's our destiny now.”
“You know what, we'll talk about this later.”
She jumped off the bed, grabbed some clothes and a towel and sped into the bathroom. About twenty minutes later, she came out, freshly bathed and dressed. She grabbed a new towel and threw it at me. I caught it effortlessly and sped into the bathroom myself. I bathed, got dressed and we left the room with our already packed boxes.
We got outside and a young man grabbed our boxes and loaded them into one of the cars. I quickly got to the right side of the car we were going to use and opened the door for Kiara. She entered with a smile which I returned. I shut the door and walked to the left side, opened the door and got in. The rest of the cars were set and ready to go and so, we began our journey back to the pack grounds.
About half an hour later, we were back at the pack grounds and just as we got out of the car, we were literally rushed by the officials. We saw just a few familiar faces, like the officials from the ceremony that was supposed to be my inauguration had Kenneth not ruined it and Alpha Ty.
Ty walked up to us, beaming. The smile on his face made Kiara's face light up. I watched her smile like a little child who had just been told they were going to have a little brother or sister. Ty put his hand out and I shook it with much appreciation.
“Well, you're only ten minutes late so, why not make them wait a little longer, huh?” He said with a smirk.
“I suggest not” said a man who I had never seen in my life.
I was just about to ask who he was when Kiara said,
“Oh, it's you” as dryly as possible.
It was obvious she hated him with passion whoever he was.
“What are you doing here and how dare you stand beside the Alpha!?” he seethed.
“Well, I suggest you watch your tongue, sir.” Ty said.
“Yes, Charles, I suggest you do.” Kiara added.
“And who are you to tell me that? He asked.
I wanted to intervene but then Kiara showed me that she could handle herself. She changed her eye colour for him to see that she had the blood and with that commanding Alpha spirit, she said,
“I am your Alpha and you, you will show me respect and never try this nonsense again!” She spat.
The man stood, frozen in his tracks, like a deer in headlights.
I couldn't help but laugh at the whole situation and they all looked at me like I was mad. Kiara looked particularly confused until her confused face morphed into one of annoyance.
She stormed off and I ran after her without hesitation.
“Hey, what's wrong? What is it?” I asked.
“What's the matter?” I pressed.
Still no reply. Then I decided that if she didn't give me answer, I would find it myself. I started reading her mind. I found out that she thought I was laughing at her. Immediately I came to know that that was what was bothering her, I laughed again.
I grabbed her arm gently and turned her towards me.
“Hey, I could never laugh at you like that. The only reason I was laughing, was because of how that dude froze up. It was like he was under a spell or something. Kiara, I love you and I would never ever do anything that would hurt you or your feelings and you have to trust me on that.”
“Okay.” She said embarrassedly.
“Now, come on, someone needs to go put her Alpha ass out there.”
She looked at me and then we both burst out laughing. We laughed until we got back inside the inaugural center.
We went to the very front of the room where the officials were. There wasn't really any time left so, we kinda had to rush it.
We took some oaths, made some vows and signed some documents until we got to a critical part.
“Now, here comes the interesting part. Which of you is the Alpha of this pack.” the head official whispered.
“We haven't decided yet” Kiara replied.
“Yes, we have.” I intervened. “It's her, she's the Alpha”
“Calvin, I can't be the Alpha” she whispered.
“Okay, um, official, sir, is it possible to have to Alpha's in a pack? I mean two mates with the title of Alpha?” Kiara asked.
At first, the man looked startled but then, he smiled and said,
“It has never happened before but I am very sure there isn't a law or rule anywhere that disallows it.”
“Really?” Kiara asked, her face beaming.
“Yes, I'm sure” he laughed.
“Well then, we'll go with that.” I said, speaking up.
“People of the Lynx pack, it is my great honour to present to you, your new pack Alphas. And for the first time ever, we have a pack with two Alphas as mates!” He said out loud.
The people cheered and shouted, happy at the outcome of the event. Eventually, they quieted down.
“Now, their first order of business, is to pick the people who will be leading this pack along side them.” He said.
He was talking about us picking our gamma and beta. Luckily for us, we had already made that decision long ago.
“Our decisions have been made already.” Kiara looked at me, asking me for the permission to speak. I gave her the go ahead.
“And our decision is that the previous gamma, Andrea will be retain her role and be reinstated as gamma because there's no ther person we'd have by our side. And for beta, we have my best friend, Diane and her mate, Seth for replacing Jackson.”
I looked all around, satisfied by the effect her words had on the people. The people looked at her, at us with love and respect. The best part, it was extremely genuine.
A few hours later, we were done with the ceremony and our luggage had been loaded into our rooms and everything had been put in it's rightful place. I had my lunch and went straight to sleep.
I found myself in our home, and I saw Kiara, running around with a child if about two years both screaming and laughing. The child spotted me and ran to me. I caught the child and looked straight into the eyes. It was the perfect addition of I and Kiara. I smiled at the child and leaned in to kiss it when I woke up. It was just a dream.
Immediately I woke up, the only thing I wanted to do was to talk to Kiara. I couldn't help myself at all. I just had to find her. I focused on her entire being and it washed over me like a breath of fresh air. I pinpointed her exact location and went straight there. She was at the garden where we'd had our first conversation. She was sitting on a chair, lost in her thoughts not even facing me. She didn't even know I was there.
The dream I had had so much effect on me that all I wanted to do was make that dream come to life. I got down on one knee and started,
“Kiara, these past weeks with you have been the most special weeks of my entire life. And I know you might say we're already mates and all that but I still want to actually marry you. You know, put a ring on that finger. I don't even have a ring yet. I... I just ...all I'm trying to say is, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Kiara, will you marry me?”
She looked at me apparently stunned and shocked and then she said,
One, not even close to what I expected you to say. I thought you just came here to talk or something. Two, why wouldn't I want a wedding? I mean, what girl doesn't want one? And three, if I didn't want to spend the rest of my life with you I wouldn't let you mark me. I love you bro, of course I'll marry you.”
I got up and hugged her as tightly as possible.
“Wait, bro?” I asked her.
“You're going to call me bro?”
“Yessir, husband, mate or whatever relationship you and I share, I will never stop calling you bro.”
