Beep beep beep
Reaching out, Kason hand landed on his alarm clock. Rolling over he let out a long sigh. Another day he wasn't looking forward to, another day he had to go to that horrible place adults call school.
Another day of getting picked on because he didn't have the latest and greatest. Sure he would love to have the latest sneakers or the new iPhone that was coming out but he didn't simply because he couldn't afford to.
Growing up in the foster care system limits you when comes to things like that. Not that he was complaining he loved his Gma. She's the only person to ever come in his life and not leave. The only person who made him feel loved and wanted. Gma took him in when he was 5 after he was kicked out his last home for sticking up for the other kids who wouldn't do for themselves.
He could still remember it like it was yesterday the anger and the voice in his head telling him, urging him to hurt the boy and hurt him bad. The power he felt during and after the fight was addictive and scary. Something 5-year-old Kason didn't understand.
Neither did his foster mother who threw him out without blinking an eye. Simply labeled Him a trouble maker and said he had to go. Now Gma, on the other hand, took him and nurtured him as a mother would. Even with his mood swings and voices in his head gma never turned him away.
She always said he was destined for great things and for him to not fight with the voices but to listen because they would never steer him wrong. Whenever he would ask more about the voices and why he heard them the only answer he would get was in due time all things will make sense. He never really pressured her for more answers because he was happy and grateful he had somebody who was there for him no matter what.
Finally getting out of the bed stretching his 6'5 frame before gathering his things he would need to get himself ready, he couldn't risk leaving anything in his room in fear of having to go back and get it only to lose his turn in the bathroom. With 4 other teenagers living there plus 5 smaller children leaves you with little to no hot water.
So you have to get it while you can when you can. After going into the bathroom and handing his business he was dressed and ready for the day. He was never the dressy type being that he couldn't afford it so he pulled on his usual which was an all-black Hanes sweatsuit and black Nikes to match something quick and simple.
Making his way downstairs the smell of bacon welcomed him into the kitchen. There standing over the stove was gma in all her glory. With her shoulder-length brown hair with strings of gray mixed in, long oval face with high cheekbones gracing her chocolate skin, still pouty lips and beautiful hazel eyes she was a sight to see. Even though she was in her 50s she didn't look a day over 30. When they made up the saying black don't crack they must've had Gma in mind.
"Are you going to come and sit or are you going to keep staring like a creep. I know I look good no need to stare" Gma said turning around with a smile on her face and a hand on her hip.
He never knew how gma always knew he was there but she did. No matter where they where she always was able to spot him even before his growth spurt. It was like she could sense him. Smiling he made his way to the old table that was on its last legs and took a seat.
"Good morning lady, I see you woke up on the right side of the bed" Kason said taking note of the happy mood she was in while going over and placing a kiss on her cheek then going back to take his seat.
"That old thing please I'm lucky to even make it out of it in the morning with the way it pokes my back all night. I just have a feeling about today. Like something going to happen. What I don't know just something." with that she turned back and continued to cook breakfast.
That made him sit back and think. Whenever gma got a feeling it was always right so he was going to make it his business to go to Hell aka school and come straight home which would be easy since he don't participate in any extracurricular activities. If it wasn't for his foster siblings he would be lonely.
The stomping of feet let him know that his siblings have arrived. There were 10 of them all together with him being the oldest at 17 then there was Derrick and Errick the twins who were 16 and then there was Jabar and Kyron who wasn't twins but they were both 15. Then there was the youngest of the siblings Sade, Mia, David, Jayden, and Rian. Who ages ranged from 4-8. Without them, he don't know what life would be. He loved them like family without a doubt but sometimes he wondered who his real family was and why they didn't want him? Or even better why haven’t they looked for him. He had so many questions about them but knew he shouldn’t hold his breath waiting for an answer.
Eating breakfast quickly before the younger kids since they're only 5 seats at the table they had to eat in rounds and quickly so they all could make it to school. The metro came at 730 and if they was going to make it on time they had to hurry.
“Have a good day y'all and be safe” Gma said as they all made their way out the door kissing her cheek as they pass. Here we go Kason thought as he stepped out the door.
When they arrived at school the group all went their separate ways being that they all were in different grades. They made plans to meet after school so they could ride home together. Outside of school the group hardly ever went anywhere without one another. It was the way Gma raised them to be, always stay together and have each other's back. She always preaches that the world is not what it seems and when the time came that they would need each other more than ever.
Gma always talked in riddles so they never really paid attention when she talked but Kason did. He soaked it all up like a sponge because he knew if Gma said it then it will mean something in the long run. What it meant he wouldn't know until the time came.
Making his way to his locker trying to go unnoticed as possible. He plans was to get in and out so he could get first dibs on the seats because he was way too big to sit in the front. That's like practically putting a bullseye right on his back.
“Fuck them we could take them they're not half as strong as us” the first voice he ever heard spoke. He could tell it was him by the Deep scratchiness of the voice. His other voice, however, was more smooth but it was Deep as well. The voice was back at it again being aggressive wanting him to be aggressive when that's not who he is.
“Yeah because you act like a little pussy. You spent to much time talking with that other guy he's making you soft.”
“Shut up” Kason said to the voice hoping that would shut him up but no, think again.
“I will not shut up who do you think you talking to. You lucky I can't come out or I would take over shit. We are better than this.” Kason tried to tune him out and to try and pay attention to the teacher but he wouldn't let up talking talking talking about how he was alpha nobody was to disrespect him not even Kason. Just as Kason reached his point with the voice the other voice spoke up.
“Don’t worry we are meant for greatness that not even Mr doggy could understand.”
What does that even mean? Kason thought what does any of this mean? Why are these voices in his head? At this point, he was convinced he was in fact crazy. He was so caught up in his head he didn't see the teacher approach nor did he hear anything she said. Until she smacked a work packet on his desk making him jump which caused everyone to laugh.
“Get with the program Mr. Pierce or get lost there will be no daydreaming in MY class," she said as she continued down the row of seats giving each student a packet. Let just say Kason wasn't her biggest fan.
The class seemed to drag on until finally, he heard the bell. Jumping out his seat he practically ran to the door. He couldn't wait until lunch the only place in school he actually enjoyed outside of the library. He get to see his brothers Derrick and Errick. He and the twins were closer than most. They were his right and left hand.
Derrick and Errick were identical twins and when I say identical I mean from their 6'1 tall frames on to their mocha complexion all the way to their deep chocolate eyes they were the same. Both had one dimple on the opposite side of their faces, they even went as far as dressing alike or in similar colors. Which could get annoying but Kason wouldn't change them for the world. The love he had for these two was unlike any other. They all arrived at Gmas at the same time so to say they were close was an understatement.
Kason not paying attention bumped into Mac. Mac Daniels was the it boy of the school being that he was the best on the basketball team and the best quarterback Bennett High ever had. He did what he wanted and nobody stopped him and when someone did try to get him in trouble for the shit that he does, he always had teachers coming to his rescue making sure their star player doesn't get into any trouble that would keep him from playing.
"Watch where the fuck you goin," Mac said with the stank face as if he just smelled some of the worst shit in his life.
"Ma bad I didn't see you" Kason said trying to walk around him not trying to draw too much attention. However, Mac always being the shit starter and attention whore he was stepped in his way.
"I didn't ask what you seen I really don't care I know one thing if it happens again IMA BEAT YO ASS," he said stepping closer to Kason but not to close so that his 6'5 frame wouldn't tower over him, making a scene. Mac was 6 even so he only reached Kason chest.
"Man gone head with all that, I didn't see you. Now move out my way so I could be on my way" Kason said but this time pushing Mac which caused him to lose balance and fall. In school, in front of everybody. He didn’t even put much force in it yet he slid across the floor.
To say Mac was pissed would be an understatement having the whole school see you get pushed on your ass was a tough pill to swallow. Especially for him, his ego was too big for that.
Without warning, he swung on Kason who had already turned to leave, hitting him in the back of the head.
