“Don’t take this the wrong way, Father, but scoot, I have some unfinished business with my newborn mate,” Catherine said seriously, and as Goran nodded, he left. She allowed her fangs to drop and Dillon’s eyes grew darker as he realized her intentions.

He helped her shift upright, and as she leaned forward and nuzzled his throat, he exposed his neck to her. The electricity between them was instant. She felt his body react.

“I don’t know what will happen if I mark you and my venom runs through your system.′ Catherine murmured as she placed little kisses along the pulsing vein in his neck.

“Maybe something, maybe nothing, maybe I will finally be your equal,” he murmured and she leaned back to look into his eyes.

“You have always been my equal, Dillon ad Goran,” Catherine said, and the truth of it was in her eyes. His gaze settled and became quiet, this was a moment unlike any other.

Their bite would mark them as mates, bind them forever as one. Link their souls, but it was also a danger to him, Catherine would not push. He looked into her eyes.

“I am yours,” Dillon reminded.

“And I am yours,” she echoed before she leaned forward and sank her fangs into him. He did not move as he allowed her to drink from him, then he felt the powerful burn of her venom. His head leaned back as the tide of it flooded his system.

She sealed the wound, and he allowed her only a moment before he nuzzled her neck, Catherine exposed her neck to him. His fangs sank in deep, and she expected the lack of finesse of a newborn, but he paid attention when they made love.

He gentled his bite and fed slowly. Catherine would have been amused at how exactly he mimicked her bite, but fire ignited in her veins. The chemistry they felt before was nothing compared to this.

Dillon allowed his venom out and it instantly hit her blood, she was moaning quietly and he loved that. The feel of her, the taste of her. HE thought he would hate being a vampire, but it changed in that instant. He would love being with her like this forever. Eduardo’s gift was a blessing, not the curse he saw it as at first.

Dillon sealed the wound and their matching bite burned. Silvery tendrils formed a pattern on their skin, only immortals would see. Half griffon and half Drake. Catherine kissed the mark and she grinned. Her life was finally complete, she looked into his eyes and she knew Dillon was right. He was her equal now, her match, not even Eduardo could equal or rival him.

“I want you so much right now, but we have to wait a couple of days,” it would be torture, she knew it even as she said it, but she died and then gave birth, she was still sore and tired.

" I know, my love, but we can still kiss,” Dillon said as he leaned in and gave her sweet lingering kiss.

“I missed you with every fiber of my being and every breath of my body,” Catherine admitted when their lips parted, twin silvery tears escaped her eyes and ran down her cheeks.

“I only survived for the memory of you. I will never leave you again, not as long as this body is whole,” Dillon promised between sweet little kisses. “I dreamt of you in my fever, dreamt we were together and that we made love,” Dillon admitted.

“I had dreams like that too, but at the end, you would...” Catherine could not say the words.

“Fade away?” He asked and they were astonished, “you would just look startled and then fade away from me,” he admitted.

“Maybe we were connected even in our dreams. I always felt you, even in the day, like you were right there, but just out of my sight,” Catherine said and he frowned.

“I felt you too. Your sorrow haunted me, but you were angry too,” Dillon revealed.

“I was angry at myself for not telling you that I loved you and I was angry at you for dying,” Catherine confessed.

“I’ll try not to do that again. If you promise too,” he teased as he kissed the tip of her nose.

“For you, I will do anything. I killed hundreds of Easterners in revenge of your life,” Catherine confessed.

“They deserved killing, but now it is time for life, for our family and your kingdom,” Dillon stated and Catherine nodded slowly.

“Our kingdom, I am not doing this alone,” Catherine said stubbornly and Dillon chuckled.

“Anything you want, my love, always,” Dillon promised.
