As soon as we finish eating, I take our plates into the kitchen and load them into the dishwasher, doing the same for any dirty dishes that were left on the counters. I won’t be a Luna or old lady that expects everyone to clean up after her and not help out once in a while herself. That’s just pure laziness and not who I am.
I turn around and bump into Bri, catching her before she falls flat on her ass. “Shit. I’m sorry Bri, I didn’t even hear you come in.”
“It’s all good. You were busy in here and I didn’t want to disturb you so I tried sneaking in. I just came in with Lync and I noticed that congratulations are in order? I’m so happy you guys finally completed the bond.” She gives me a comforting hug and backs away, keeping her hands on my shoulders as she looks at me in concern.
“How are you doing otherwise? I haven’t had a chance to catch up with you since you have been home and I’ve been worried about you. You know you can talk to me if there is anything bothering you, right?”
Man, this girl. I pull her to me and squeeze her, holding on tight to the one person who has become my friend the second I walked through those front doors not so long ago. She has become like a sister to me and I love her for it immensely.
“I know, and I appreciate that, I really do, but I am fine. I promise. One would think that I would be affected by the attacks in a negative way, but honestly I’m just not letting it get to me. I would do it all over again without hesitation if it meant you getting those pups to safety. I wasn’t thinking about myself when it came to stopping those assholes. My wolf and I knew what we needed to do to give you time to get away.” I seperate from our hug and start the dishwasher as I continue to speak my mind.
“One thing I realized though is that I need to be more careful and aware of my surroundings. The fact Sterling hired someone to kidnap me shows that he is either biding his time to act on his own or is scared and wants other people to do his work for him. He is obviously willing to do anything to get me to be his Luna and I refuse to put anyone in danger again because of his fucked up obsession with me.” I state seriously.
She nods her head in agreement, “I understand. I was terrified when I left you, but I understood why you did what you did. I would have done the same thing if the roles were reversed. I’m just glad you’re okay. You are good, right?” The concern in her voice is noticeable as she searches my face, looking for any indication that I’m lying.
I give her a genuine smile to ease her worries, “I am doing alright considering other problems that have been brought to Edric’s and my attention, but in regards to the attack, I’m good. Luna’s promise.”
Her shoulders relax before she starts to make her way out of the kitchen as I follow behind her. She teases me as she looks over her shoulder, “okay, good. No more being a hero and getting yourself injured, Luna. I would like to keep you around for a long time. Which means no more risks without the pack until he is six feet under.”
She winks before heading over to the bar stool to sit on Lync’s lap, downing the beer that was sitting in front of him. I look around the lounge and don’t see Edric anywhere.
“Hey handsome, where are you? I’m in the lounge and ready to go see Valerie. The sooner we find out her part in this, the sooner we can deal with her and get this shit over with. It’s getting exhausting pretending to be nice to the female.” I say through our mindlink. I don’t want to risk anyone hearing what we have planned, so we are keeping it between Edric, Donny and myself for now. The less people who know, the better.
“I’m in the office with Sniper and Donny talking club business. Wait for me by the bar, baby. I’ll be right out.” Edric responds back immediately, saving me time from searching for him.
I take a seat beside Bri and her male, leaning back on the bar and look around the lounge. Lilac and Dahlia are playing pool against Sniper and some other male I have yet to meet, a few sweetbutts are walking around picking up garbage, sweeping, mopping and dusting.
I stand up onto the stool, crawl my ass on the bar counter and center myself on it as I whistle to get everyone’s attention. Everyone stops what they are doing and looks up at me patiently.
“Hey everyone, I know that I have only been here for a short time, but I want to thank you ladies for everything that you do. Not only do you keep the single males dicks wet, which helps them think clearly with the head attached to their necks...”
I smirk at the sweetbutts and a few of the clubwhores that are hanging off of a few men’s laps. Some chuckles and whoops are heard from the brothers as the sweetbutts faces turn bright red at my declaration; except one female with bright red hair who smiles brightly at me. I chuckle and shake my head at her as I continue, “but you guys also help out the old ladies. Your Alpha and I appreciate everything you guys are doing so keep up the good work and I promise, I will get around to meeting anyone that I haven’t yet soon. Once everything has been dealt with, all of us females are going for a spa day on your Alpha and I. As for you men? Well, y’all can get drunk and be the crazy assholes that you are here at the clubhouse.”
The females jump up and down, clapping as all of the males whoop and whistle, joining in on the excitement. I get down off of the counter and sit back on the stool as if I didn’t make the females day even a little better with that announcement.
Turning to Bri and Lync’s bright smiles, I make conversation as everyone in the lounge converse to themselves, “do you guys have any plans for today?”
Lync swallows his mouthful of beer before responding since Bri’s mouth is now full of nachos and salsa. “Not really. I have to run a few errands for Janelle at the restaurant, something to do with one of the vendors fucking up the delivery. She needs me to go talk to them to ensure it doesn’t happen again. It’s happened too many times for it to be considered a mistake and Idelia needs my help at the diner for some minor repairs, but other than that, nope.”
I look at Bri and raise an eyebrow who just raises her shoulder in a shrug, holding in a laugh at her mate’s response. “Well, good luck with that and make sure the vendor knows that if he doesn’t smarten his ass up, he can easily be replaced.”
Lync finishes the rest of his beer, kisses Bri on the cheek as he whispers something in her ear, making her turn a cherry red and winks at me as he leaves, “You got it, Luna.”
Seconds later, Donny and Sniper leave out the front door, not even glancing in our direction just as I sense Edric walking my way. I look up at him and he leans down, molding his mouth to mine in a breathless kiss before pulling away with a sexy smirk. “Mmmm, you taste delicious, sweetheart. Are you ready to go check up on our patient?”
I let out a sigh as I slide off the stool, “as ready as I’ll ever be.”
We make our way to the room where Valerie was staying just as she comes limping out. She knows she shouldn’t be leaving yet, considering she knew we were coming to see her, yet here she is. She snaps her head up, startled and plasters a fake smile on her face. Returning her smile, I act like a true Luna towards a non traitorous bitch.
“You’re looking better today, Valerie. How are you feeling?” I ask in my most genuine voice. Until she is proven guilty, I don’t want her hurting all the time. I may have a great dislike for the female but that doesn’t mean I want her dead, yet.
She inhales deeply, frowning before righting herself and gives Edric a small smile. This girl is good, but she shouldn’t take up acting anytime soon, that’s for sure. “I am doing much better, Luna. I was just given the all clear to leave so I was coming to find Alpha, but since I have you both here, can we talk in private?”
She stares into Edric’s eyes, not disguising the hurt she feels before her eyes travel down his neck to his collarbone, seeing my mark there as her eyes widen just a fraction. It takes a lot of effort to hold in the smirk that’s twitching to be shown, but I do it. Being a responsible Luna isn’t rubbing in the fact that the Alpha is mine and not hers, so it’s a good thing I’m working on that.
Edric growls a warning for her to look away as she knows it is disrespectful to look an Alpha in the eyes for too long, but she doesn’t heed his warning until I step in between them and make sure it’s my narrowed eyes she is looking into. She shakes her head and looks to the floor, talking in a meek voice, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to disrespect you, Luna.”
“Don’t do it again, Valerie, or we will have problems. My wolf isn’t very pleased with you at the moment for that blatant show of disrespect to not only her, but our mate and your Alpha as well. Edric and I are fully mated now, so remember your place and my wolf won’t have any issues with you. I want to like you Val, so please don’t do anything to make that any more difficult than it already is.” I state in all seriousness. She needs to know I’m not messing around and I will ruin her if she pulls that shit again. She has no chance with him and it’s about time she gets that idea out of her damn head.
She subtly nods her head in agreement, “okay. I’m sorry, Luna. It won’t happen again.”
“Thank you. It better not.”
Edric clears his throat to hide the groan and grabs me by the waist to center myself in front of him. I look over my shoulder in confusion until I feel why he moved me, the idiot has a fucking hard on in the middle of the damn hallway while talking to this fake ass female. He winks at me as I roll my eyes at him and focus back on Valerie who is still looking down at her feet.
“Let’s all go to my office and we will discuss anything you have to say in there.” Edric says in a gravely tone as he grabs my hand and turns to his office. He adjusts himself, making me snicker and give him the side eye as I spot the knowing smirk on his face.
We enter the office and I make sure I am seated on Edric’s lap, nestled comfortably onto his hardening cock. I wiggle as he growls a low warning into my ear, nipping the lobe slightly. I have to hold back a moan at the feeling of his mouth on me. We really should stop, but now that I’ve had him, I feel like I need him in me all the damn time. Well shit…
He pushes upwards and I do my best to ignore it. I’ll jump his ass once we are done dealing with whatever it is Valerie wants to talk about. She takes a seat in the chair across from us and looks up before quickly looking at the desk, avoiding our eyes. Good girl.
Edric clears his throat to get her attention, “So, Valerie, what is it that you wanted to talk to us about?”
She sits taller and addresses me directly rather than Edric. “Luna, first I want to apologize again for anything that was done or said prior to today to make you think I have any ill intentions towards you. While I laid in the hospital bed, I had a lot of time to reflect on my actions and I realized that I was wrong for putting any bad blood between us. Alpha Edric is your mate and everything that happened between him and I is irrelevant. Especially now that I see that you two have marked each other. Congratulations on that by the way.”
She exhales before speaking again, “Anyway, the reason I needed to speak to you was to ask for permission to go on a trip. My wolf and I have come to love the human male that I have been seeing and would like permission to go away with him and his sister this afternoon to Europe. They have booked their flights and are waiting to see if I can go to book mine. We would be gone for five weeks.”
As she pauses, I ask curiously, “why five weeks?”
She gives me a small smile when I show that I am actually listening to her as she speaks. “His sister booked a tour for them all over Europe this summer. We would leave as soon as we are done here and come back the day after the tour is over. His sister is also pregnant, so she wants to live one of her dreams before she has to give up living for herself and live for the baby. So if it is alright with you both, I would like permission to leave the pack for that time frame and then I will come back right after.”
Valerie quietly talks just above a whisper with sadness in her eyes, “and who knows? Maybe while I’m there I will find my mate.”
I give her a sad smile as Edric replies in a stern yet gentle Alpha voice, “Valerie, you just healed from being nearly beaten to death and we still don’t know who did it. I’m worried that whoever attacked you might have you followed.”
“I don’t think so, Alpha. They kept mentioning Luna Gia. I don’t know what their plan was, but I am pretty positive it was a message for you? Or maybe Luna? I don’t know, but I promise I will hire a guard or two while I’m there. I just really need this, please.” She begs, looking between Edric and I.
“I don’t believe for a second that she doesn’t have an idea of why that happened to her, Edric. I think we should let her go, though. We can deal with her when she gets back but in the meantime, she will be out of the way as we put all of the pieces together.” I suggest mentally.
He nods slightly, agreeing with me as he releases a strained breath. “Perhaps getting far away from this mess would be better for you for the time being, and we will have everything figured out before you get back. You need to make sure you keep in contact with either Donny or Clover at least every second day by video call though so we know you’re safe.”
Lighting up at his words, she stands up from her chair and brings her hands up and under her chin in thanks. “You have no idea how happy that makes me. I think it’s time that I take a break and get away from everything anyway. To live my life as a mateless she-wolf until I find my mate and have to settle down, you know?”
Edric and I both nod our heads in understanding as she turns around to leave, “okay, I’m going to leave you two alone. Thank you so much, Alpha Edric and Luna Gia. I appreciate it a lot and I know he will as well.”
I stop her as she nears the door, “wait, Val. What’s this males name that has even your wolf accepting him? And when you return do you mind bringing him to the pack if you haven’t found your mate by then?”
She blushes as she looks to the ground, “his name is Regan and okay. I know he would like that. He knows about shifters but has never met any until me, so he is quite smitten and fascinated by who we are as a species. He promised me secrecy and I trust him to let him in. I will let him know to come with me to the clubhouse when we get back. I’m going to let him know to book my flight and I’m going to go pack. Thank you again, Alpha, Luna.”
With that said, she leaves the office and softly closes the door behind her. Edric’s chest rumbles before he flips me to face him, my legs straddle his waist as he growls seductively.
“Now, where were we?”
