Chapter 59- A Bigger Plan

--Eleanora POV--

“Because I’ve been going undercover in the black market,”

This Damien Navarro man was so cool.

Intimidation, confidence and beauty, it was all radiating off of him in large waves. I understood why Vince looked up to him. I couldn’t help but do the same.

“What do you mean undercover? For how long?” Don asked.

“Long enough,” The Grand Duke nodded his head as he finished off his wine and placed the glass down on the coffee table.

“I have a list of the members that I was able to find out about and I’ve got the next meeting point too. It’s tomorrow evening. They’ll be selling slaves, prostitutes, guns, drugs, stolen jewels and other illegal stuff,”

This is the jackpot.

All we need to do now is go to that meeting point, expose all of them and boom! It’s the end of all the drama, after so long. I can finally live a normal-ish life as Vince’s future wife.

Damn. Vince’s future wife, after all the drama, I almost forgot about that. But I’ll finally have a surname, I never thought I’d have one of those.

“You must really love this Kingdom if you went through that much trouble for us,” Vince stated, a small smirk on his face and Damien laughed, shaking his head.

“I don’t care about the Kingdom much,” He sighed.

“Then why?” I asked and the man turned his head to look at me, eyes glimmering with mischief. “Because I, dear Eleanora... love adventure,” Oh? I guess this man was kind of simple-minded too. I liked drama too... when I was on the sidelines, at least.

Vince laughed as if expecting no other answer.

“Damien Navarro is not only famous throughout the Kingdom but the world for his love of adventure. He hates being bored more than anything,” Vince said and I hummed while Damien nodded along in agreement.

Just then, the sound of a polite knock reverberated through the room and we all turned our heads to look as a silver-haired man, identical to Damien except for the blue eyes instead of green, walked into the room.

He looked like the younger version of Damien. With longer hair and a lean build instead of muscular. While it was obvious that Damien Navarro had worked out a lot, this man looked like the type that preferred office work. He seemed a bit younger than Vince and Don too.

“Father, is this what you needed?” The man asked, handing the papers over to Damien who nodded before taking the papers.

The man caught my gaze and respectfully nodded as I quickly did the same.

“This is Marcos Navarro, my son and the next Duke. I’d give him the title now if he wanted-”

“But I don’t want it for another 10 years,” The man whose name I had learnt was Marcos, cut his father off with a small smile.

“10 years is quite long, don’t you think? You’ll be 30 by then... and I’ll be nearing 50, damn,” Damien whispered as he ran his fingers through his hair.

“Here. This is the only copy I have so be responsible with it,” He handed the papers forward and Don quickly took it, reading through the list and I watched as his eyes widened in surprise at a few of the names.

“What should we do with all these people?” Don asked, handing the list over to Vince who quickly skimmed over them.

“Since most of them are just wealthy merchants, we can get rid of them. Strip the titles off of the people who have titles and publicly humiliate them for tarnishing the reputation of my Kingdom,” Vince didn’t hesitate to say that.

“Piece of advice. Use the surprise tactic to capture them, then fewer of them can get away and it’s easier for your men to capture them,” Marcos leaned forward to whisper.

“You heard him,” Damien chuckled, eyes glittering with pride.

“Where’s your wife?” Vince asked half-heartedly as he flipped through the papers.

“Sleeping,” He answered.

“This late?” Don mumbled.

“We were up all night doing-”

“You don’t need to finish that sentence,” Marcos was quick to cut him off.

“I heard there’ll be a royal wedding soon?” Damien smirked, his eyes drifting from me to Vince then back to me as I blushed, looking away and willing for it to go away.

“Yes, there will. You’re invited, don’t worry,” Vince replied but paused in his reading for a moment to look up and smirk at me before going back to the papers.

Half an hour later we were all on our way back to the palace and Damien waved us off with his son who stood at the same towering height as him, standing beside him.

“Vince,” I called and he hummed from behind me. “I’m going to-”

“Come with me tomorrow. I know, you’re a stubborn lady,” I turned to look at him, surprised that he wasn’t going against me as I had expected and he laughed, leaning down to kiss me on the lips before moving away and smirking at my bright face.

“You need to get used to that. I’ll be doing a lot of it from now on,” He whispered.

“Are you happy?” I changed the subject and he blinked. “That the Grand Duke is innocent,” I specified and he paused for a moment before smiling and nodding his head. “Relieved,” He said and I smiled, that’s good.

“Nora,” Vince whispered, wrapping his arms around my waist as he placed his face beside mine, breathing in deeply as if trying to inhale my scent.

“Yes,” I replied.

“I don’t know if I can wait until the wedding night,” I almost fell off of Amadeus at his words and I would of if not for Vince’s fast reflexes. He held onto me tightly and laughed as I tried to keep myself from exploding.

“Why would you say that!?” I jokingly whacked his shoulder but he caught my hand and kissed my knuckles, his eyes stuck on mine as his lips lingered on my hand.

“I was joking,” He whispered and I breathed out a heavy sigh, glaring at him but he was truly enjoying this too much, his lips wobbling while he tried to hold back a laugh.

“I may have been a womanizer before but that’s all in the past. Now, I’m your one and only gentleman for the rest of our lives,” He leaned down and kissed my forehead.

“My gentleman?” I mumbled, liking the sound of that.

“And you’re my Queen,” He added and I hiccuped at the sound of that. Me? A Queen? “And everyone will love you, not as much as I do since that’s not possible but everyone will love you, I’m sure,” He confidently added.

“And if they don’t?” I pessimistically whispered out.

“You don’t need the rest of the world’s love. Your family’s love is enough,” And now that I thought about it, he was right. Having his love was more than enough for me.

“Then...” I hesitantly started as he stared at me, waiting. “You have to treat me nicely,” I said and he laughed, nodding his head and leaning down to kiss me again.

“I plan on doing just that,”
