Chapter 25

Serena

After Mom invited Atticus into the house, I was a little worried that she would have gone into her sergeant mode but, so far she has been extremely calm.

Mom went into the kitchen and she was making the dinner. I stood by the doorway and I asked her.

"What's for dinner, mom?"

"I'm making Cajun chicken pasta, it won't belong."

"Need a hand?" Atticus asked her.

"That's very kind of you, Atticus but I've got it sorted. Serena why don't you show him around and let your siblings meet him."

"What about Dad? he's gonna freak out once he sees him."

"You let me worry about him. Now off you go and show your mate the house and let him meet your siblings."

"Okay, Mom."

I spoke with a smile. Before we left, she called out to me saying.

"Oh and one more thing, if you're taking him to your room, don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"Mom!!" I yelled at her with a hint of blush on my cheeks making her laugh at me.

I groaned as I led Atticus upstairs and he was still chuckling.

"Well, she was something."

"Not funny, Atticus. Underneath all that friendly mask, she's raging and her overprotective mother instinct is gonna take over sooner or later. Trust me, I've seen it happen a few times before."

"I'll believe it when I see it," Atticus spoke with a smirk.

"Shut up, come on. I want you to meet my siblings."

We went into Lucy's room and she was at her desk working on her homework.

"Lucy, I got someone I want you to meet."

Lucy stopped working on her homework and then turned to look at me and Atticus.

"Who's this, big sis?"

"Lucy, I like you to meet my second chance mate, Atticus. Atticus, this is Lucy."

"Hello Lucy."

Lucy stared at him and I could tell that she was trying to read his soul like how Mom and I use our power to look into someone's soul to see if they're evil or lying or look through their memories. Lucy snapped out of it and then she smiled at me.

"He seems decent enough and he's got a kind soul."

Atticus looked at me with a confused look and I explained to him.

"Lucy is a hybrid just like me and Mom. However, the only difference between us is that I'm the second generation of the reaper demons while Lucy is the royal first blood or something like that."

"That's right, but, I'm not as strong as Serena or Mom yet but, one day I will be even stronger than you and mom."

"Ha! I'll believe that once pigs sprout wings and fly."

Lucy and I laughed at our little banter before left her room. Atticus looked at me and he asked me.

"So if Lucy's a hybrid, does that mean she's also a werewolf too?"

"We don't know."

"You don't know?" Atticus asked me with a confused.

"You see, Lucy showed signs that she has her demon powers at a young age. Mom and I thought she would have awakened her wolf too but, she hasn't shown any signs yet. Like I said, we don't know if she has inherited the werewolf gene but, Dad thinks she might show the signs once she's 13."

"But do you think she has it?"

"Hmm....it's hard to say but, I believe she has it. If not, well, I'm just happy that she's got the demon gene."

Atticus chuckled before we went into Henry's room but, before we went inside, I slowly opened the door to make sure there wasn't a bucket on top of the door and thankfully, there was none. I sighed in relief but, that was cut short when I walked into clingfilm.

"Ah! what the hell?!"

Suddenly, someone threw a bucket of feathers at me which got stuck in my hair and on my top. Atticus started laughing and so did Henry.

"Gotcha!! hahahah!!"

I wiped away the feathers from my face and I glared at Henry.

"Henry!!"

"Oh man, sis you should have seen your face!"

Atticus continued laughing and then he spoke up.

"Hahaha! oh man, that was a good one!"

"You can shut up too!"

Atticus stopped laughing when I yelled at him. I wiped off the rest of the feathers and I told him.

"Atticus, this is my little bratty brother Henry. Henry, I'd like you to meet my mate."

"Nice to meet ya!" Henry grinned.

"You too, little guy. Are you always pulling pranks like this?"

"Sometimes I only do it for a laugh but, when it comes to my siblings, I can't stop myself."

"Just me and Lucy? Henry, you prank our parents too and you know what mom's like when she gets mad."

"I don't care," Henry spoke with a smirk.

"Well, you should."

I told him as I ruffled my hair to get rid of the last of the feathers before we left Henry's room. Mom called for us and then we went into the dining room, Mom sniffed the air before turning to look at me.

"Serena, why do you smell like fairy liquid?"

"Ask the brat you call my little brother," I told her.

Mom glared at Henry and then he raised his hands.

"Don't look at me!"

"Nice try Henry, I can tell you're lying," Mom spoke in a stern voice making Henry shrink back in fear.

"Sis...I hate you."

I stuck my tongue out at my brother before Lucy came down the stairs. She was about to sit down until she stopped herself. Lucy reached under her seat before she pulled out a whoopee cushion.

"Henry!"

Henry chuckled nervously before Lucy and I looked at each other. We both nodded our heads before we smacked him upside his head.

"Ow!! Mom! they hit me!!"

"Hahahah! that's my girls!"

Mom chuckled before we sat down.

"Is dad going to join us?" Henry asked Mom as she served us the pasta.

"Yeah, he's just coming."

Right on time, Dad came into the house and he came into the dining room. Mom smiled at him and she said to him.

"Hey Honey, welcome home."

"Hey Ellie, dinner smells nice."

Dad told her before he kissed her lips.

"Ew!!" Henry and Lucy shouted.

Atticus and I chuckled at their reactions before dad looked at him.

"Who's this?"

"Dad this is Atticus, Atticus this is my adoptive father and the previous Alpha, Jackson Miller."

"It's nice to meet you," Atticus spoke with a smile.

Dad glared at him as he sat down at the table.

"How do you know my daughter?"

I gulped a little and then Atticus told him.

"Well...believe it or not, but, we're mates."

"You two are what?!!" Jackson shouted.

"Not a chance in hell!"

"Hey!!" Ellie shouted before she smacked him upside his head.

"Ow!"

"Be nice! Serena got her heart broken by that pathetic excuse of a Third commander and now the Moon Goddess blessed her with a second chance mate."

"Sorry..." Dad mumbled as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Sorry about him, Atticus. Jackson has been a little overprotective since Serena after Alex rejected her."

Atticus growled when he heard his name but, I held his hand to calm him down. Atticus glanced at me before he squeezed my hand back.

"It's fine, I know how Serena feels. My first mate rejected me for my brother."

"What a jerk," Lucy commented.

"My thoughts exactly, kid," Atticus spoke with a smirk.

Mom served the pasta and we tucked into the meal. As we tucked into our dinner, Mom and Dad were asking Atticus questions.

"So what pack were you from?"

"I was from the Feral Claws pack and my brother is their Alpha."

"You're related to Alpha Xander but...you don't seem so..."

"Evil? cruel? ruthless?" Atticus asked him.

"Among other things yes."

"Serena noticed that when we met as well. My brother and I are polar opposites. He's evil and I'm kind."

I nodded my head in agreement before Mom spoke up.

"I can tell and so can Lucy. So, how has Fenrir been since the last time I saw him?" Mom asked him before taking a bite of the pasta.

"Evil, ruthless and being a bad role model to my idiot brother."

"No surprise there and I don't blame most of your pack members wanting to leave that place."

Dad looked surprised and I explained to him.

"All you need to know is this. Xander wanted me to be his Luna so we had a Alpha vs Alpha match which I won and then I ended up taking most of his best warriors including his Beta and Third commander."

"Oh, so that explains the new faces I saw in town today."

"Sorry, I should have told you first."

"No, it's fine. You made the right choice Serena but, there will be consequences."

"I know but, with my mate by my side, I have nothing to worry about."

Atticus smiled before kissing my cheek making me giggle while my siblings gagged.

"So now that you two are mates does that mean Serena is going to be the Luna?" Lucy asked.

"Actually, that's what I was going to talk to Mom and Dad about."

"About what?" Mom asked me.

"Well, Atticus and I have been talking and we thought that instead of me becoming the Luna, we thought that I should be co-Alpha."

Dad spat out his drink when I suggested this while Mom smiled at me.

"Co-Alpha? that does sound like a good idea. I think it will send a message to those old fashioned Alphas not every she-wolf has to become a Luna if she's on the same level as her mate."

"Absolutely not!!" Dad shouted.

We turned to look at him and he told us.

"Serena, even you should know that it's always tradition within these packs. If an Alpha finds an she-wolf and if he accepts her, she becomes the Luna."

"Jackson, what's the matter with Serena being co-alpha? I think it's a great idea."

"No it's not! don't you get it, if Serena becomes co-alpha, the Silvermoon pack will be a laughing stock."

"Not it won't, in my opinion, it sends out a message to the other packs that not all she-wolves can become Luna if they're stronger than their mate."

"I still don't think it's a good idea. Serena, the answer is no."

"Ignore your father, I say yes. Who's the Alpha around here? you or him?" Mom asked me.

"I am," I spoke with a smirk.

"Did you also forget that I was the one who gave you that title in the first place? I can easily take it away."

My eyes widen in horror when he told me this before Mom growled angrily.

"Jackson!"

"What?"

"May I remind you that I'm a hybrid and I'm ex-military? I'm stronger than the hunters and the she-wolves around here. I have led my comrades into battle and they respected me whenever I took charge as the Luna or Alpha or captain so why is being co-Alpha a bad thing? if you ask me, screw the traditions it's about time there's some changes that need to be made around here. Atticus and Serena should be the ones to make them."

Atticus was surprised by Mom's speech while I nodded my head in agreement.

Dad stood up from his seat and he said to us.

"If you want to do this then go ahead but, don't expect me to bail you out when things go down hill because the Elders and the other packs won't like these changes."

Dad left the table and he closed the door behind him. This dinner was either a disaster or a success. But, Dad is not the Alpha anymore and Mom's right, it's time there was changes that need to be made.
