Chapter 7

Serena

A few weeks had passed since I've been in this pack and so far everything was going okay until I ran into some bully girls. Stacey, the ringleader of her gang, shoved me against the tree and she said to me.

"Listen, newbie, if you think you're so better than us then you're dead wrong. I'm top dog around here, not you!"

"What are you talking about? I didn't do anything wrong!" I shouted angrily.

"Who cares! now remember, I'll be watching you and I'll make sure that everyone knows that I'm top dog around here and my sister, Michelle will be the Luna."

I frowned when she said this before I shoved her away from me and then I pressed her against the tree. I glared at her and I told her.

"You can only become a Luna if you're mated to the Alpha and by the way, I don't think Michelle and Alpha Jackson are mates!"

"Why you little-!"

"What's going on here?!" A familiar voice shouted.

I looked over my shoulder and it's Ellie.

"Ellie!"

I released Stacey and then she and her little buddies looked at her in fear.

"Ahh! it's the Bloodhound! run!!"

Stacey shouted before she and her friends made a run for it. I chuckled when this happened but, I stopped laughing when I saw Ellie's frown.

"Care to explain to me what that was about?"

"I was defending myself and besides Stacey started it. She thinks she miss high and mighty because her sister, Michelle, is gonna be the Luna!"

"Luna? pfft! I doubt it, not after I made a mess of her face."

"You didn't," I spoke with a smirk.

"I did and she was the one who started it, not me. Anyway, did you tell Joshua or anyone else that you're being picked on?"

"Nope, because I can look after myself and I can defend myself."

Ellie looked at me with a surprised look and then she chuckled.

"Good grief, are you sure you're 10 years old and not an older woman trapped in a little girl's body?"

"Nope. Anyway, what are you doing here?"

"Well, I don't know if you've heard the rumours but, all you need to know, is that the Dark Fate pack has gone rogue and they've already taken down a lot of the packs around here which is why the leader of my hunting guild allied with this one."

I was surprised when she said this and then I asked her.

"Does that mean you're staying for a while?"

"I am indeed."

I smiled when she told me this and I said to her.

"That's great! so what's gonna be happening while you're staying here?"

"Well, I'll be training and keeping an eye out for the enemies of course. Why?"

"Well...I was wondering if you can teach me some of your moves."

"What?" Ellie looked surprised when I asked her this.

"I'm okay with the Beta training but, I was wondering if you can teach me some of your moves when you were in the army and maybe you can show me how to use those weapons of yours."

Ellie was surprised when I asked her for this and then she sighed a little.

"Well...this is a first. I wasn't expecting a pup like you to ask me to train you. But, if it's what you want, I guess I can teach you some of the basics but, don't go telling anyone about this otherwise, I'll never hear the end of it."

"Hehe, you got Ma'am," I told her while saluting her which made her chuckle.

We got to a clearing where no one else was around before Ellie taught me some of her combat moves. She even brought along some pads with her and some targets for us to use.

"All right, before we get started, I want to see how much Joshua has taught you so far including your father."

"Okay."

Ellie put on the pads and she held them up before I threw a few punches and kicks. Ellie looked surprised at first but then she smiled at me.

"Good, I see those hours of training with your father and Joshua were useful after all. You throw a good punch and a few good kicks as well."

"But...?"

"But, it's not always about attacking the enemy, it's also all about defending yourself from their attacks as well. If you don't pay attention to their movements or their body language you won't be able to work out their next move," Ellie explained to me before she takes off the pads.

"For example..."

Ellie mumbled before she threw a punch at me, however, I managed to duck in time but, Ellie tripped me up and I landed onto my backside.

"Oof! ow..."

"See what I mean? your enemy's movements can be very unpredictable which is why you need to be on your guard at all times. Didn't see that one coming did you?" Ellie smirked at me before helping me onto my feet.

"No I didn't. I can't believe you actually did that. I thought you had a soft spot for kids?"

"I do but, when it comes to training that's when the soldier in me kicks in. It's the same thing with my father, he taught me a few moves when I was your age."

"Wow."

"Anyway, let's continue. Show me how you defend yourself against the enemy."

I stood in a fighting stance and then Ellie shook her head for no.

"No, no, no, that's all wrong."

I looked at her confused before she moved one of my legs back and moving my arms a little to show me how to protect myself.

"It's like a boxing stance except you won't be wearing any gloves in combat. Now then, let's see how you defend yourself against my attacks."

I watched Ellie's moves and then she threw punches and kicks at me and I managed to block and parry a few of them. After a while, I panted in exhaustion.

"Good work, Serena. Not bad for a first attempt at fighting against the Bloodhound."

"Thanks...so, are you gonna teach me how to use your weapons too?"

I asked her after getting my energy back.

"Of course but, I don't think your Alpha would thank me for letting you use my weapons."

"Oh come on, we're far away from the others, how bad could it be?"

"Point taken, anyway, let's start with this little guy."

Ellie told me before she pulled out one of her pistols from her holsters and she said to me.

"This one is a handgun but, it's also known as twin pistol since I always use them in a fight. Much preferred but for this little training session I'll let you use one."

Ellie gave me her gun and it felt a little heavy.

"It's heavier than it looks."

"Don't worry, you'll get used to them. Handguns are lighter than a rifle and a shotgun but, I only use those in case of emergencies or for sneak kills."

We stood in front of the targets and then Ellie said to me.

"Before we get started, there's something I gotta do first."

Ellie took the gun from me and then I watched her switch the magazines to ordinary bullets.

"You use ordinary bullets too?"

"Well, you can't be too careful. You don't know what kind of crazy people you run into nowadays."

After switching the bullets, she passed the handgun back to me and then she said to me.

"All right, since you're right handed, your finger should be near the trigger while the other is supporting the bottom like this."

Ellie placed her hands on top of mine as she showed me this.

"That way, your left hand can help you steady your aim. Another thing I should point out, if you're threatening someone with a gun, don't go squeezing the trigger straight away, move your finger away from the trigger so that way you won't have that twitchy feeling to press it."

"Okay. So what now?"

"I want you to try and see if you can aim for the bullseye, it's okay if you miss a few times. I was like that too when my father was teaching me how to use a gun too."

Ellie covered my ears and then I heard her say.

"Okay...aim and fire."

I pulled the trigger and I jumped in fright because I wasn't expecting it to be loud. Good thing Ellie covered my ears when she did, sensitive werewolf hearing and all. I looked at the target and the bullet landed on the blue ring.

"I missed..." I mumbled.

"That's okay, keep trying."

Ellie encouraged me before I fired the gun again. I was too high this time and with Ellie's instructions I never gave up until I landed on the bullseye on the third target. I smiled at this and then Ellie uncovered my ears.

"There you go, told you that you would get the hang of it."

"Thanks Ellie."

"You're welcome, I think that's enough training for today. Come on, let's get you home."

Ellie told me before she took me back to Joshua's place. After saying goodbye to Ellie, Joshua was in the living room and he asked me.

"Where have you been all day and why was the Bloodhound with you?"

"Ellie was just dropping me off and I was training all afternoon as well."

"I see, did that hunter do anything to you?"

"No, she didn't. I'll be in my room, let me know when dinner is ready."

I told him before heading upstairs into my room. I laid down on my bed while staring at the ceiling with a grin on my face. I was so happy that I got trained by Ellie who isn't just a Bloodhound but, an ex-soldier was well.

I feel so honoured but, I also wished she was my mother too. I don't know why I felt like that but, I do. Maybe it's because it felt like I had a parent beside me and who was teaching me how to defend myself.
