Chapit Katòz

I made my way to James and Marie's house, blasting Organic by Eric Bellinger, giving my wolf the rare opportunity to howl it out to his new favorite jam. Being alpha doesn't give me too much privacy to let him out to relax often, so whenever we're alone in the car I give him his time to shine. No one would believe it if I told them that the big, bad wolf is actually a big softy that loves R&B and Neosoul and would rather sing and vibe than fight. The wolf known and feared as Blade, prefers to be called Maxwell in private. Yes, like the singer.

Parking my car in the driveway, I grab the dozen of roses from the passenger's seat before jogging up to the front door. Admiring the perfectly manicured lawn and neatly painted blue door, I knock, hearing some shuffling on the other side. The door swings open to an apron clad Marie, wiping off her wet hands.

"Good afternoon Alpha. To what do we owe this pleasure of a house call?" She pulled me into a warm embrace, ushering me into the house as we exchanged pleasantries.

Stepping over the threshold, I follow her down the hallway to her kitchen. "Well I was stopping by to formally introduce myself to your niece. She's already made such an impression on some of the pack members, I thought I would stop by before I was the absolute last person to meet her." She smiled sweetly as she pulled a freshly baked loaf of Haitian bread from the oven. "I also wanted to see if she'd like to join me for lunch and take a tour of the pack territory."

"Ahhh, so that's what that lovely bouquet is for." She sliced the bread, plating it and sliding it my direction. There is no way I'm turning down fresh Haitian bread! I groan appreciatively as the dense texture ignites all of my taste buds. If only I had some soup joumou. "Well I'm sorry Alpha. You just missed her and Lena. They left out for lunch a little while ago."

Slightly disappointed, I respond, "I keep missing her by 'a little while'." Rubbing the back of my neck, I chuckle as I look at the roses.

"Baby, let me put those lovely roses in a vase for you and then I can let Eva know that you stopped by." She reached out for the roses, but I stopped her with a smile. "Or...I can call them and tell them to get back right now!" I laughed at her seriousness.

"That's ok Ms. Marie. I think I'm going to head out and maybe check back later on today or try again tomorrow." I stood preparing to leave when a hint of her scent edged out just over the smell of the bread. "Actually, could you show me to her room? I'd like to leave the flowers and a little note if I can."

Following her lead down the opposite end of the hallway, the warm scent that I smelled for the first time last night in the hospital and then again this morning on Tony hit me like a Mack truck when she opened her guest room door. Brushing past the very petite middle aged woman, I rushed into the room inhaling the scent as if it were my first breath of fresh air in a long time. The smell of warm macadamia overloaded my senses to the point where Maxwell pushed forward, spinning and bouncing around in circles like a pup in a meadow.

'You know what we're smelling right?!' Max pranced back and forth, causing me to completely forget that there was someone in our presence.

I turned to the little woman who had a knowing and brightly glowing smile on her face. She bomb rushed me with a tight hug, catching me completely off guard with her strength. "She's your mate! Your mate! My niece is mated to my alpha!" She jumped up and down with so much joy, I couldn't help but smile, even though it was technically my moment. Turning back towards me with a look of shock on her face, she stated, "My alpha is mated to my niece... the princess."

Well shit! I didn't think of it that way. This is so much to process. I've been 'not looking' for my mate for years, only to find out that it's the girl I'm supposed to be babysitting. Just to find out that she's not just some girl, but a super amazing warrior-princess, doctor wolf that has my pack so enamored that they'd worship the ground she walks on, even if she wasn't royalty!

Losing myself to my thoughts I begin to pace the floor, again forgetting that Ms. Marie is standing there before she reaches out to grab my arm. "Calm down child! First things first, before your head explodes from thinking too much, you gotta meet the girl first!" She leads me to sit on the bed where her scent is even stronger, allowing me to catch my bearings as I inhale the scent to the depths of my soul, hoping it will never leave. "Tell me what you want to do and we can make it happen," she gleamed at me with a determination that let me know that she meant it.

I take the next half hour plotting and planning with Ms. Marie, who would be a perfect matchmaker if that were a thing amongst wolves. While I wanted to just be a creep and wait in her room until she got back, with or without clothes on shamelessly, Ms. Marie came up with something I could have never thought of myself.

After making the call to have four of my warriors move all of the princess's things to the pack house, I left a single rose on her now stripped bed and the task of planning the evening over to Ms. Marie. I rushed home to prepare for what could very well be the beginning of the rest of my life, contingent on saving hers that is.

*Eva POV*

Lena and I were preparing to head back to the house from lunch when she received a phone call from Aunt Marie asking us to pick up a few things for her on the way back. Usually this wouldn't be an issue, but she was oddly specific with her shopping list including the exact shops she wanted us to visit. Nonetheless, we had nothing else to do, so we embarked on the journey.

Four hours later and after driving back and forth between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, we finally had the list completed and were on our way to the house. Though today has been fun hanging out with Lena, I'm ready to kick my feet up, check in back home, with Michel and my girls, and relax in bed.

As we walk into the house, Lena heads to our rooms to drop off our shopping bags while I stroll to the kitchen to deliver the requested items to Aunt Marie who is in her own little world, singing and muddling about. "Hey Auntie. We got everything on your list." I give her a kiss on the cheek and grab a small plate in hopes of getting a slice of the already cut Haitian bread. Before I could do so, I hear Lena yell from the bedrooms.

"Ummm cuz, you've been robbed!"

I jumped up from the counter, racing to my room to find Lena standing next to my stripped down bed. All of my drawers open and cleaned out, toiletries gone and closet completely empty. The only thing that was actually noticeable about the room was an oddly beautiful, single purple rose on the bed.

Aunt Marie followed me into the room hushing Lena. "Girl stop that yelling! Eva was not robbed. Alpha Ethan stopped by and decided that it be in her best interest to move into the pack house today—to keep a watchful eye on you."

How she said that with a smile I do not know. What I do know is that I am now fed up, fuming and mentally deciding how I'm going to castrate this asshole who keeps taking it upon himself to make decisions for me!

The look of confusion on Lena's face as she looked between my scowl and her mother's grin would have been comical if I wasn't so damn mad! "Auntie, I know that he is your alpha and all, but I am respectfully going to kill him. I'm going to march over to that pack house and bring my stuff back, but not before I give him some very choice words!"

"Eva dear," she rubbed my arms in an attempted to get me to calm down. "The reason you're here is to meet the alpha so that the two of you can come up with a plan to save the kingdom, right?" I reluctantly nod my head at her. "Alright then. You might as well go ahead and stay at the pack house with him and the sooner you do, the sooner y'all can save everybody. Am I right?" Again, I nod. "Now, go get cleaned up. Alpha wants to have dinner with you at the pack house to welcome you."

"Whhhaaaatttt dinner with the alpha?! I'm down." Lena giddily bounced on the balls of her feet.

Aunt Marie shook her head, "Not you Lena, just Eva. As a matter of fact, that last stop where you picked up the garment bag, that's what you'll be wearing."

I unzipped the bag to show a super cute purple bodycon jumpsuit, that has a plunging neckline, cinches high at the waist, soft ruching over the tummy and hip area, unforgiving material that is bound to accentuate my 'assets', and a simple pair of strappy nude high heeled sandals. As mad as I want to be, I can't deny that the outfit is sexy as hell, and even if I'm not excited about the dinner, I'll be able to take some cute selfies.

Finally dressed, with Lena adding the finishing touches to my makeup, I'm suddenly nervous about dinner. Meeting the alpha makes this rogue situation real. It also means that my focus on finding a solution will not take precedence over anything else. I know with me gone my friends and family are safe for the time being, but I need to make sure that they are safe indefinitely and that this threat to everything we know and love is neutralized.

I notice my aunt wipe a tear from her eye as Lena steps back to allow us all to see the completed look. "Oh Eva, you look beautiful! Let me take some pics to send to your mom," she starts snapping pictures so fast I don't even get the chance of a rebuttal.

I don't even blame her because Lena is a miracle worker! She has my makeup best to the gods and styled my locs in a sweet pulled back bun, with a curly side swept bang.

"Auntie, why are you crying? You're acting like I'm going on a date, when in fact, I'm just having a welcome dinner with your alpha, that will probably end in us talking strategy, if I don't bite his head off for making decisions for me first."

She gives me a loving grin and a pat on the butt, before ushering me towards the door. "Come along now, Lena and I will drop you off or would you like to drive yourself?"

Thinking about it for a moment, I decided that I would rather drive myself, just in case I need to make a clean getaway. "I'll drive myself, I have to make a quick phone call anyway." I grab the car keys, give them both kisses on the cheek and head towards the car. Before I'm able to pull off, Lena bound to the car, knocking on the window to place the now trimmed rose delicately in my bun. Giving her one more smile, I thank her before pulling off.

Making it to the stop sign, I grab my phone and hit the group FaceTime I have saved with Tam, Stacy, and Michel. Smiling nervously, I wait as they each answer, letting loose a series of catcalls on how good I look.

"Damn sis! You look amazing." Tam wolf whistled.

Stacy chimed in, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were in Miami having a good ass time, rather than trying to save lil ole us from danger!" I giggled at her sarcasm. "Michel, either tell her how good she looks or close your damn mouth before something flies in it," Stacy rolled her eyes as Michel just stares at the camera, lost for words with his mouth gaping like a fish.

"Y—, you look beautiful Princess," he finally stammered out. I gave a thankful blush to my friends who always seem to boost my head up.

"So guys, on a serious note. The reason I'm calling is because I am on my way to dinner with the alpha, no big deal, just a 'welcome' meal. Now what I need from y'all is to talk me down from the ledge, because I haven't even met this man and I am ready end him!"

They listen intently as I explain to them everything from permitting me to stay with my family, to the split training sessions, and finally moving all of my things and essentially forcing me to stay at the pack house without consulting me first. In all my ranting and raving I hadn't noticed that I'd made it to the pack house, until I parked the car.

I hopped out to an awaiting Brutus who told me to follow the walkway to the backyard. I gave him a playful punch in the shoulder and thanked him for the directions as well as for being a formidable opponent this morning.

"This dick didn't even have the common decency to meet me at the front door! He had one of his warriors waiting to tell me where to go!" I huff as I follow the pathway that I'm noticing is lined with purple rose petals and cute little tea light candles. "I'm definitely going to kick his a—," my words get caught in my throat as I gaze upon the sight in front of me. A cute little gazebo has been placed in the center of the training field, fairy lights have been strung across the yard creating a mesmerizing canopy effect, there's music playing from the speakers I didn't notice earlier, that JJ dressed like a waiter?!

Aside from the total transformation of the yard, what struck me the most was the scent that engulfed my lungs and caused my heart and stomach to drop to the soles of my feet. Barely able to whisper, I glance at the phone to my dumbfounded friends and say the words I never thought I'd get the chance to say, "I've found my mate... I-I have to go." I hung up the phone before they could say anything more.

Allowing my nose and my heart to lead the way, I followed the scent to a shadowy figure sitting on the steps of the gazebo with more purple roses.

'Hurry, hurry! Konpayon, konpayon! Mate, mate!' Lafwa bounced forward attempting to take control as she breathed in the scent of the one that the Moon Goddess created for her.

Getting closer, my eyes fell to the most beautiful man I had ever laid eyes on in my entire life!

"It's you..."
