Justin Brock, head of Saturn’s Space Enforcement, stepped onto the base. He was just getting back from visiting his home planet, Rhea. He was so nervous, he was biting his fingernails. That was a human thing, he knew.
He ran to his office and video chatted the council at another SE base.
“Agent Brock,” the president of the council greeted. “What seems to be the matter?”
“It’s Rhea . . .” He didn’t want to tattle on his planet but as the head of an SE base, he could not keep the information secret. “They want to invade Earth.”
“What?” the president exclaimed.
Justin grimaced. “They’re not the only planet. My King told me that Rhea and three other moons want to invade.” Justin had no idea why his King would tell him this. The King must have known Justin would go straight to the council with it.
“What other moons?” the president demanded.
“That, he wouldn’t tell me. He said that SE had no chance of stopping everyone. Even if we ground flights, they will disobey.”
“When?” The president’s picture cracked with static.
“Four months . . .”
The president swore in his native language. “We need to find a way to stop this. We need to protect Earth. If we cannot stop them, we will need a team of planets defending Earth.”
“Thank you for telling me this. You have honored your title.”
“I trust you will pull a team together. First, we need to try and stop the four moons.”
“Yes, sir,” Justin said again.
The president said goodbye and ended the video transmission.
Justin sighed. Why did everything have to fall on his shoulders? First Tethys and Enceladus’ war, then Enceladus’ planet problem. He couldn’t catch a break.
But he wouldn’t let Earth be destroyed by his home or any others. He would protect it. That was his job.
