Chapter 2- A companion

Raven heard a pale scream. "What's that now?" She stood still for a moment, looked in all the possible directions and
followed the voice. Taking heavy steps at first, her pace became faster and faster every passing second. The only thing she could see all around her were the creepy trees....

This idea wasn't good, because following voices can sometimes lead to massive problems excluding the fact that the place itself is the creepiest mystery, but she didn't have any other option. Either she could have died with fear or someone actually could have killed her.
She tried harder to hear the voice clearer but the echoes made it confusing for her to make out the exact direction. "Oh, for the sake of..!"
Frustrated by the noise of her own footsteps, she closed her eyes, focused on the voice and started walking silently until she reached a barren land where there was a big statue of a young girl in peculiar clothes with a basket of books hanged on her left hand. After gazing the statue for a couple of seconds, her eyes fixed on a boy, probably the one whose voice she had heard.

She keeled at him from behind a big tree, narrowing her eyes so she could get a better look in the dark. He was a young and tall boy with chestnut brown hair, of around sixteen who wore a night dress that seemed quite ordinary. To Raven’s relief, he was not in a cape like the old man she met before. Relaxed, she went near him and bent down.
“Excuse me?" She said in a low voice.
“Please leave me! Please don’t kill me. I don’t know how I came here, please leave me!” he begged. He was terrified and it was sure that he would have seen something creepy or dangerous.

“Don’t be afraid, I am not going to kill you. I don’t even know who you are!” Raven said in a gloomy voice and waited for his reply for couple of minutes.

Slowly, he stopped crying and looked at Raven suspiciously taking in a big gulp. “So, you aren’t a witch? You won’t kill me
with your magic?” he asked her in a dull voice. Raven felt this to be humorous and giggled.

“Are you serious? Me! A witch? And kill you? But why?” She asked laughing silently.
“You don’t know what is happening here?” he asked.
“Umm… actually, not at all. I don’t even know how I came here." She replied, now with a slight fear in her eyes.
“They killed my friend only because he couldn’t perform magic when they asked him to. I freaked out and didn't know what to do, so I just ran from that place.” He said in a frightful tone.

Raven started to tremble and couldn’t think of anything rather to run from that place. "Why are you still here then, wait is this a trap?" Raven doubted....

Without thinking, she rushed in the opposite direction, “Don’t run, don't go there. If they catch you, they will kill you like they did with my friend.” The boy shouted.
The moment she heard him, she immediately stopped and was almost petrified. There was no way out of this scary place. She was all alone with that boy who was as unaware, scared and shocked as she was. He came towards Raven still shaking...."If you are as lost as I am, it would be better if we stay together" said Jack. Raven didn't answer him but he understood that it was a "yes" ....and besides, she wouldn't even think of wasting this opportunity to escape.... again
"You can trust me...I am not lying" Jack added .....
