The night was not over, and the couples were supposed to go out for more than a dinner and meeting with Derek’s ex.
Amelia hardly blinked her eyes as she followed Raina back down the stairs to join the guys waiting for them. As they entered the kitchen, they saw them talking and drinking beer.
“So, Brian, were you going to start without us? When do we leave? I thought we were going clubbing?” Raina sat down next to Derek.
“Are you out of your mind? You caused a scene at the restaurant, you storm out, we drive back, and now you want to go out?” Brian shouted.
Derek turned to look to Raina and said, “Raina?”
“What Derek? What the hell is wrong? You still talk to your ex? Okay, so now that it is out in the open, we will deal with it.”
Derek’s eyebrows raised, and Brian stood up from the table and noticed that Amelia seemed different.
“Amelia? What is wrong?” Brian snapped his fingers in front of her eyes, and she didn’t blink.
Brian leaned over the table and said to Raina. “What have you done?” Before she could reply, he turned away and stared out the window. “You know what? I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I cannot allow this.”
“Brian, calm down. Amelia was upset and I gave her these.” She handed Brian a prescription bottle of valium.
Brian snorted and threw the pills back at Raina. “You! You gave her these? This is a prescription for you!” He looked at Derek. “What do you know about this?”
Derek shook his head and stared at the floor. “I don’t know man; I didn’t know she had scripts.”
Raina said, “Hey, I am not a terrible person, I just went through some stuff, and my doctor gave them to me. I thought Amelia could use one. So, don’t get mad at me, she took it.”
Brian said, “I don’t know, she doesn’t seem even close to normal.”
Amelia remained quiet and not moving.
“Maybe we don’t need to go out, Raina,” Derek said.
“Oh please, she will have an even better time with the sedative that relaxed her. Let’s go.”
Raina got Amelia walked as though there wasn’t anything bothering her. “See, she is fine.”
The guys lagged several steps, and Brian grabbed Derek’s arm. “Look, I don’t understand Raina and no clue what the hell is going on, but Amelia doesn’t act like someone on pills. She walks normal, not like a drunkenness or pills, but her eyes are glazed over, like catatonic. This is weird. I don’t know, I don’t know.” He stopped and looked at Derek. “Fine, I will take us out for an hour, but then Amelia and I are leaving. I don’t care what you and Raina do, but you both must leave in the morning. I am sorry. But something is wrong with her, and now I feel bad saying you two should date.”
Derek sighed, “Yeah, I know. Look let’s get through the night. I will take her home and break it off in the morning after we get back to Salem.”
