Prologue

“Queen Cassiopeia, King John, thank you for allowing me to meet with you,” Justin Brock said. He shook their hands. “I am sure you’re both curious to know what this is about.” The Queen looked annoyed so Justin hurried along. “I’m afraid it’s bad news. A few planets want to invade Earth.”

“You’re kidding. Please, Agent Brock, tell me you’re kidding,” pleaded the white-haired Queen.

Justin shook his head. “I’ve come here today to ask if you and your people will fight for Earth.”

The King and Queen exchanged glances. “We just can’t get a break.” King John laughed nervously. Funny, Justin had thought the exact same thing last month.

Justin could tell that Queen Cassiopeia was thinking about it. “Okay. We will help. But I will not make any of my citizens fight in a war that is not theirs. We’ve been through two battles already.”

“I understand. Volunteers only.” Justin thought about all Enceladus had been through the past few years. First their King and Queen were murdered by coup leaders and the planet was thrown into chaos. Then there was a war with Tethys. Most recently, their planet was almost destroyed because of global warming. Speaking of . . . “King John, do you mind if I pick your brain about the Guclon? I read it all through your email but I would love to hear it in person.”

“Of course. We can go to my study.”

Justin bowed toward Queen Cassiopeia. “Thank you, Your Majesty. I will contact you in two weeks.”

“When will they invade?” she asked.

“In March, Your Majesty.”

With that, Justin followed King John to his study. It would be a long four months.
