Great Spirit War

Great Spirit War

Three events were shaped by the supernatural world and set the world on the course it is on today. On the surface, it didn’t seem that way. Some don’t believe it themselves. However, the truth already made itself known whether anyone chose to believe it or not. It would take years to explain every little detail of what happened. So, here is a basic break down of everything that happened. Starting with…

World War I

Here’s something that started out with a small conflict. A young man shot the grand duke and his wife. But did he do it alone? Truth was, he was possessed by a demon. This particular demon was bored and wanted to stir up some chaos in the living realm. He preyed upon this frustrated youth and jumped into his body. Gun shots brought on a whole war.

The other realms had a mess on their hands. The higher-ups of each species tried to find who was the cause of the assassination. They couldn’t even produce the answer as to why this would happen. Only the demon’s lover knew why and she found herself at a loss.

“Why did you do this?” she asked him in bed right after the assassination. He rolled over with a goofy grin on his face.

“Things have gotten too boring around here,” he said. “We all needed a little action.”

“But you made a young man kill innocent people.”

“That’s a price that must be paid for change.”

His lover frowned, shaking her head. “You have to turn yourself in before things get worse.” He gave her a quick kiss on the lips before he sat up in bed.

“Why would I want to do that?” he asked. “The fun is only getting started.” The demon got up and walked into his bathroom to wash up. His lover held her hand to her chest. She could already hear the screams of war as the “War to End All Wars” unfolded in the living realm.

In the end, the demon disappeared into Mt. Fuji and watched his game unfold. He never came back to Ronahon and they never had the chance to charge. He even lost contact with his lover and she moved on to an injured soldier in the living realm. They later married and had a daughter named Hana.

So many casualties resulted among the humans, but it didn’t end there.

Great Depression

In this case in the 30’s, a greedy god wanted to drain all of the wealth from the humans of the living realm. He summoned a small hoard of mini-demons in his dining hall.

“My darlings!” the god said. “My kingdom is so lifeless. Go out and give me more wealth.” The demons bowed and flew out into the living realm. Their master sat back laughing loud enough to shake the sky. By the end of 1929, the living realm was swallowed up in the Great Depression. Many starved and struggled to survive. In Ronahon, everyone saw the new decorations around the greedy god’s palace. It didn’t take them long to figure out what happened. The angry mob of angels circled his house.

“Come out here!” Gabriel ordered. “Give the humans back their wealth!” The god refused to come out or comply.

“Never!” he shouted. Gabriel raised his arm in the arm.

“Charge!” he shouted. The angels stormed the house. For nine years, they warred with the god until they managed to steal back all of the looted wealth. The thieving god himself fled to Mount Fuji and lived in poverty. However, it was all too little too late for the final act of change was on its way.

World War II

World War II was what set the future on the fast track. Two houses in Ronahon went to war. The cause of this feud is lost now in the records, but many stories ensue. Everyone was fighting at the time. Many wondered what happened to the peaceful times before World War I. Some mystics tried to flee for more peaceful grounds, but the fighting followed like a virus.

In 1945, Kami couldn’t take it anymore.

“Stop!” he shouted. “I command you all to cease with this pointless fights! This is getting us nowhere! I will smite you all if you don’t stop this war!” It all ended with two atomic bombs dropping in Japan. That was how the story went. Details vary depending on who you ask. One thins still stood: World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II changed the dynamic between humans and mystics.
