Chapter 20: Trainwreck

<< Maddy >>

"I've been patient enough with you. It's time for you to come back and be my mate" Alpha Nick hissed. His eyes were darker than normal and my body was shaking. His words came out like a command and it was almost impossible to resist an Alpha's command. I didn't have my wolf, I didn't have to listen. But I could still feel the urge to submit, but I could shrug it off.

His face moved closer to mine, our noses were almost touching. I tried to back away but there was nowhere to go. We were in some kind of dark ally. How did I not notice where we were walking?

"NO!" I screamed with all the power I could find. My knee lifted and hit the target between his legs.

Alpha Nick doubled down, this was my chance! I pushed him further and jumped away, but he caught my arm. A burning sensation went through my arm and I kicked him again, now in his ribcage and pulled away. "LEAVE me alone", I yelled. When I looked back I saw his red Alpha eyes shining in the dark. He had shifted in nearly a few seconds.

I turned and stumbled onto the streets. I had to get out of here! He lunged for me again and I was quick to jump aside. I could hear something fall, but there was no time. My fist collided with his muzzle. My knee quickly followed and hit him in the throat. Where was everyone? Why was there no one around?

The wolf staggered back and coughed. Time to escape! I had to get out of there, as far away as possible. So I ran, not really knowing where. I couldn't go back to the B&B, that was too easy and predictable. They could easily find me there.

My feet stopped at a crossroad and I looked around for a clue, a way out.

'Trainstation' one of the arrows stated. That is what I needed. The train could take me away, I could mingle my scent ... it was the perfect way out. My feet quickly followed the arrows, but I could feel my energy draining now that the adrenaline was taking a back seat.

The trainstation was small, which made it perfect! First thing I did was stumbling to a 'lost and found' box. I swapped my jeans jacket for a thicker coat with a hood, so I could hide my identity.
When I shrugged of the jacket I could see it was stained with red fluids. What the hell?
There were two big wounds on my body. One on my arm, where Alpha Nick grabbed me and one on my ribcage. Shit!

These were wounds caused by an Alpha! Even if I had my wolf, it would take days for them to heal. Alpha wounds were more severe. They healed slower for some reason.
This was bad!

I found some other clothes and fabrics and took them with me to the ticket machine. I was getting a ticket that would bring me to Moonlight Pack. Will could help me and all my stuff is there. I couldn't go back to Blue Ridge.

When I got on the train, I make my way to the small stinking bathroom and start working on my wounds.

I hope I make it to Moonlight pack.

<< Alpha Alex>>

Spending time with my little brother was exactly what I needed. I know we don't always seem eye to eye, but he is still one of my best friends. We had spend the evening talking about his challenge, how he impressed everyone with his ax, off course, and how he did in the finals. He did mention a girl a few times, but I tried not to react on that.
After dinner we ran in our wolf form untill it was time to head back and get some sleep.

It's time for the finals of the Alpha challenge. I crushed the previous rounds, but now it's time for the real deal. We have an hour to rest and get ready. But there is a weird vibe in the locker rooms and Olli seemed ... distracted.

"Okay, spill it. What's wrong?" I ask after twenty minutes. His behavior is getting on my nerves.

"Uh, I have no -"

"Olli, stop pretending. Clearly there is something wrong now spill it before I have to drag it out of you" I grumble while I try to suppress my wolf. He hates it when someone hides something.

Olli sighs and lowers his head: "Remember the girl I brought with me?"

Ugh this is about a girl?
"Olli, get over your heartbreak already" I sigh and try to walk out, but Olli stops me.

"No, it's not like that. She is missing. Her brother saw her last night, but since then every trace of her is ... gone. She is not in her B&B, but her stuff was there. And they found ... blood. I'm just worried"

I have never seen my little brother like this. Normally he doesn't really care about the girls that hang around him. This seems different.

"Is she your ... mate?" I ask him reluctantly

"What? No, I would have told you. ... it's different. I have the urge to protect her, but my wolf doesn't go crazy for her. He isn't screaming mate and when you just asked that, he growled in defense. She isn't my mate but I still have this urge, this need to protect her, like she is important"

I didn't say anything to that. I didn't know what to say. But Olli didn't seem to mind the silence. After a moment, he takes a deep breath and seems to pull himself together.
"How can I help you for the challenge?"

I won! It was between me and the Alpha from this pack. He had put up a good fight, but I won by knocking him out. His pride was a little bruised but he didn't really mind I think.

After the round of applause I made my way to lockerroom. I just had to survive tonight's gala and then I could finally go home. My wolf had finally settled down a little, probably because he knew we were going home.

When I enter the lockerroom, Olli is packing. He didn't even acknowledge me when I entered. "Everything alright?" I ask him.

He seems to snap out of his daze and congratulate me on my win, before focusing back on packing. "Olli" I try again. He looks up with a confused look. "Is there any news?"

He sighs: "yes, Will found her in our pack, but it's not good. I'm gonna skip the gala and head back"

Wow, he really cares for this one. Usually my brother would never pass an opportunity to party. He was the social partybeast between the two of us.

"I'll come with you" I offer. For one I want to know what is going on with my pack and brother. Secondly, I hate these parties. Especially if I have to go on my own.

"You just don't want to go to that gala" Olli smirks at me.

We laugh and make our way to the hotel. In an hour we are fully packed and ready to go. I have excused us to the Alpha from the pack and told him we have an emergency. He didn't seem to mind that the Alpha who kicked his but, was leaving early.

When Olli and I got to the airport, we were greeted by three officials from the Alpha King himself.

"Alpha Alexander, you are under arrest"
