Chapter 20

We drove straight to the infirmary. Luckily, aunt Jesica was working today. I ran right up to the desk with Aisha in my arms.
"Aunt Jesica, I need your help!" Some of the nurses sniffed the air and wrinkled their noses. Aunt Jesica looked down at Aisha and nodded her head. We followed her down the hall to an examination room.
I gently placed Aisha on her stomach, turning her head to the side.
"She was whipped and goddess knows what else was done to her. Then she used the rest of her strength to teleport us out of danger." I looked at aunt Jesica with tears forming in my eyes. "I know she's a witch, but she's also my mate. Please, can you help her?" She took a pair of scissors out of the drawer at the sink and started carefully cutting off her torn shirt.
"Of course I'll help you. You might have to step out in the waiting room while I tend to her, though." I didnt want to leave her and my wolf whimpered in my head. He just wanted us to stay near our mate. Jared pulled me back towards the door.
"C'mon, Aaron. Let's leave Dr Jesica do her own magic on her." Aunt Jesica smiled and continued to pull off pieces of her shirt. Some material were stuck in the deep gashes. Jared finished pulling me out the door to the waiting room. We were the only ones there. Jared got a coffee from the refreshment table and sat down beside me.
"Are you going to tell your parents that she's here?" I just stared off. I didn't care about what anybody thought at the moment. My wolf and I just wanted our mate to be ok. Jared realized I wasn't paying any attention to him and just sat there, sipping on his coffee.
About half an hour later, aunt Jesica came out.
"She's stable and still in her unconscious state. I cleaned the wounds and sewed them up. I can't do anything for her magic though. The only thing I can think of, is to let her rest. Her magic may restore itself after she rests. Also, I put an IV in her. She's dehydrated. I gave her pain medicine through the IV, too." I went to my aunt and gave her a tight hug. She wrapped her arms around me.
"Thank you so much. What can I do to repay you?"
"You don't owe me anything. I'm glad I could help." I released her and stepped back.
'Go to mate!'
"She's in room 105." I nodded my head and almost ran down the hallway. I opened her door and just stared at her. She was hooked up to a heart monitor. The sound of the monitor was the only sound in the room.
I slowly went over and sat in the chair next to the bed. I brushed the hair out of her eyes.
"I'm so sorry my love. I'll do better to protect you. I promise." I heard footsteps coming down the hall.
'Protect mate!' The door opened and they came right in. I stood up and turned to face them.
"Mom, dad." My wolf growled in my head. My mom sniffed the air and scowled in disgust. My dad crossed his arms and had a scowl on his face too.
"What's the meaning of this, Aaron?" My dad asked.
"How could you bring a witch here! After everything that happened because of that warlock!"
"Not every witch is like that warlock who fucked your life up! Will you stop living in the past and fuckin move on? I'm sick of paying for the past!" My dad stepped in front of my mom.
"Now, Aaron. Stand down! You don't disrespect your mother!" I roughly pulled at my hair in frustration. Aisha's heart monitor started beeping faster. I turned around and rushed to her side. She started thrashing around.
'We must help mate!' My wolf yelled. I gently caressed her face and held her hand. I leaned down to her ear so she could hear me.
"I'm here my love. It's alright. You're safe now. I have you." Her heart monitor started returning to normal. I sensed my parents backing away from me. My wolf growled at them.
"Please leave." They opened the door to go.
"Just know this Aaron. Just because she's your mate, does not mean I accept her. A witch has no place in our pack. Mate or not." My mother turned and walked out the door. My dad looked back at me as he was about to go out.
"I told you." The tears fell down my face, as my dad shut the door behind him.
'They will never accept mate.'
"I know. I don't know why I kept having hope that they would."
'Because you wanted them to be happy for you. Whoever that warlock is, he really fucked up things for mom.'
"I wish I knew too. She never told us who."
'Maybe he's already dead.'
"Doesn't matter if he is or not. Mom will never give anyone else a chance."
'We must protect mate. Take mate somewhere safe.'
Jared came in, after knocking.
"I'm sorry, bro. I couldn't stop them."
"I know and it's not your fault. My parents just won't ever accept her as my mate." I sat down next to the bed, still holding Aisha's hand.
"What are you going to do?" I stared at her sleeping face.
"I'm going to stay with her and protect her. I'm never giving up on her." Jared stood over at the other side of the bed.
"Even if it means giving up being the next alpha?" I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. When I opened them back up, I looked directly at Jared.
Yes, even if it means giving up my title. I will never give up on Aisha or reject her. She's my mate. My perfect half." I looked down at Aisha. "I love her." My wolf sat in my head with his tongue sticking out. He loved our mate too.
"I support you, bro. No matter what. Just know I'll always be on your side. I'll have your back." I smiled at my best friend, my brother.
"We thank you."
