Chapter 10

Roman

It was lunchtime and I was having lunch in the cafeteria with my friends until Lindsey came along. Apollo wasn't happy when she came over and sat on my lap. I was happy that she was here but, for some reason she looked as if she had seen a ghost or something.

"What's wrong, babe?" I asked her as I kissed her head.

"I met someone today, I met that rogue you told me about."

My eyes widen when she mentioned her and I frowned a little.

"You did? what did she say to you? did she hurt you?"

"No, No, no, nothing like that. All I did was threaten her and I told her to stay away from you. I also told her that I was going to make sure that she suffers because she's a rogue but, she didn't even fight back. She just stood there and took it and she even told me that she's been there and done that."

I was surprised myself when Lindsey told me what Riley did when she threatened her. My buddies except for Matthew also have the same reaction.

"Seriously? that rouge didn't snap when she got into a conflict with a pack member? that's odd."

"I know, I thought rogues were supposed to be feral and dangerous but this one..."

"I told you our mate wasn't bad," Apollo spoke with a smirk.

"Oh shut up, no one asked for your opinion!" I shouted at him.

Apollo turned his back towards me and he went off in a sulk before Jack asked me.

"Roman, if this she-wolf is trouble then why isn't she picking a fight or causing trouble?"

"I don't know and I am not a mind reader."

I told him with a frown while hugging Lindsey tightly. Just then, that sweet scent struck my nose making Apollo howl happily knowing that our 'mate' is nearby. I looked up and then the students' chatter died down when she came into the cafeteria. Riley looked at me and Lindsey while I smirked at her before I kissed the top of her head to make that rogue snap.

Riley walked over to us and I was about to celebrate until she said to us.

"Oh, so this is why you wanted me to stay away from him. I had a sneaky feeling he was already taken."

I looked her with a shocked look and then Lindsey asked her.

"You mean you already knew? how?"

"I can smell his cologne all over you and there's a little bruise on your neck as well. It doesn't take a genius to work it out. You're welcomed to him."

"You are joking right?" Lindsey asked her.

"No, not at all. It doesn't matter to me who he picks as his Luna. It's none of my business anyway, he's the Alpha and it's his choice meanwhile, I'm nothing but a 'disgusting rouge' that he hates. You're welcomed to him."

Apollo whimpered when she said this and then Riley walked away from us.

"Okay...I was not expecting that," One of my buddies spoke up after seeing this.

"Huh, well, at least that's good to hear. She won't be a problem then," Lindsey spoke with a smirk.

Apollo whimpered sadly and then he shouted at me.

"This is all your fault! mate doesn't want us because of you!"

"Oh shut up, Apollo. I don't need her. I need Lindsey."

"We need our true mate! since you won't reject Lindsey then I will never allow you to shift again! I hate you!!" Apollo shouted before I suddenly felt weak.

Lindsey looked at me surprised after she stood up from my lap.

"Roman? are you okay?"

"Ugh...yeah, I'm fine."

I don't know what just happened but, it felt like all of my strength had vanished.

Riley

I was sitting underneath the shade of a tree until I felt Aurora whimpering.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"Something's not right with Apollo."

"Who?"

"Roman's wolf. I think I felt his bond with Roman break."

That wasn't a surprise to me when she told me this because I have heard of some werewolves losing their wolf spirits and their ability to shift when something bad happens to them such as a traumatic experience or rejection.

"How do you know this?"

"Apollo told me before he vanished. He said that his stupid human refuses to accept us as his mate so to punish him, he's gone into hiding for a while and that means that the Dawnguard's pack Alpha is now weak because he's a stubborn fool and an idiot."

I held back a laugh when she told me this and then I mumbled.

"Serves him right," I mumbled as I drew my attention back to the drawing I was working on.

"I feel bad but, yeah you're right. But, let's just hope that Apollo comes back and lets him shift again if evil rogues come a long and attack the pack."

"Whatever, I'm not worried. We don't need him."

I told Aurora as I continued to finish the drawing. The bell rang and then I put away my sketchbook before picking up my bag and then I headed to my next class which was art.

I sat down on one of the stools and then the rest of students came into the room. The raven haired woman, Lindsey, came into the room and then she sat next to me.

"What do you want now?" I asked with a frown.

"I'm not going to cause trouble. I just wanted to say thanks for understanding and not trying to pick a fight."

"Whatever, besides, if you want to threaten someone, you're gonna have to do better than that."

Lindsey looked at me surprised and then she chuckled.

"I'll keep that in mind."

Aurora growled at Lindsey and she said to me.

"I don't like her. She stole our mate from us and caused Apollo to disappear!"

"Hush, he's just in a sulk. Besides, there's no way Roman will accept us. If he's happy with her then we shouldn't get involved."

Aurora whimpered a little before I turned my attention back to class. Right in the middle of the lesson, someone burst into the room and shouted.

"Rouges are attacking!!"

The students growled when they heard this and then a few of them turned their attention to me.

"Don't look at me like that, I have no idea why they're attacking," I told them before they ran out of the room.

I was about to follow after them but, after what Aurora told me, I was a little worried about Roman. If he doesn't have the ability to shift then there's a high chance that he might get injured or worse. I sneaked away from the group of students and I let Aurora take over so she can follow the scent of our mate.

We got into the woods and that's when I spotted a group of familiar rogues, evil ones that I might add as well. I ducked behind some bushes and then I heard Aurora growling.

"Issac..."

"Of course, it had to be him."

If you're wondering who Issac is, he's an evil rogue Alpha. When I was 15, Mum and I were seeking refuge for the night until we found out that he's an evil rogue and he had been trafficking young she-wolves who were around my age and some of them were only pups as well. Issac tried to make me and Mum one of his slaves but, we managed to escape but, I only wished that we could have helped the she-wolves.

Why he's here at the pack boarder is probably because he's after more she-wolves once he starts a raid. I have heard there have been a few of those before I came to the Dawnguard pack.

"What do you want, Rogue!"

"We're here to take some she-wolves from you!" Issac claimed before he sent a few of his wolves at Roman.

I watched Roman carefully and I noticed straight away that something was wrong with him. He tried to fight back but, his strength wasn't there. Looks like Aurora was right, Apollo has disappeared and without the ability to shift, Roman is in trouble. I had to do something and I don't care what happens afterwards.

I jumped out of the bushes and then I kicked Issac in the face which sent him flying. I landed onto my feet and then Matthew and the others looked at me with surprised looks.

"What the hell are you doing here?!" Roman shouted angrily.

"Saving your butt, what does it look like?"

Suddenly, I heard chuckling and I turned to look and Issac had got back onto his feet while rubbing the spot where I kicked him.

"Well, well, look who it is. Riley the wanderer. You've grown into a beautiful, she-wolf."

"Don't try and compliment me, I know exactly why you're here and there is no way I'm going to let you do it."

Roman looked at me with a surprised look and he said to me.

"You're working with him?!"

"No way in hell! he's one of the evil rogue alphas and he's also the one who's been kidnapping young she-wolves and trafficking them. I have no part in that."

"She's right, although, you and your mother were nearly-" I cut off his sentence after punching him in the face and I sent him flying.

The other wolves were shocked when they saw my insane strength before the other rogues charged at me. I smirked at them before I fought back.

One of the rogues tried to punch me but, I ducked in time before I back flipped and kicked him in the face. I glanced over my shoulder and then another rouge appeared. I dodged his punches and kicks until I high kicked him in the face and I caught one of the rogue's wrists when he tried to attack me from behind.

I twisted it behind his back and then I spotted Issac charging towards me. I shoved his friend away from me before I punched him right in the stomach and I think I heard his bones cracking from the impact. Issac coughed out blood before he slid across the ground.

The other rogues looked at me fearfully and then they made a run for it. Issac glared at me and he said to me.

"You'll pay for that...you witch!"

"Your days are done!" I shouted at him before I shoved him onto the ground and then I raised my foot. "See ya, loser."

I stomped my foot on top of Issac's head until it was crushed. Roman and the others were shocked when they saw this before the other rogues made a run for it. I chuckled at this sight before Roman came over to me.

"Holy crap, where on earth did that insane strength come from?"

"When you're living life as a rogue, you've got to learn how to protect yourself. Speaking of strength, what the hell was that back there? I've seen tougher Alpha take down rogues better than you."

Roman frowned and then clenched his fists tightly.

"I don't know...I tried to fight them off but...I couldn't shift. Something has happened to my wolf."

The others were shocked when they heard him say this until I spoke up.

"I think I know why, it's because Apollo is in a strop. He's angry at you because you refuse to accept me as your true mate and Luna."
