Chapter 14

Roman

After one of the pack warriors mind linked me that Lindsay was fighting Riley in the training area and I went to stop her but when I got there, Riley had pinned Lindsay and I was about to help her but something stopped me. I didn't know what was going on but for some reason Apollo started whimpering in fear along with the other wolves who were a part of the training.

"Apollo what's wrong?"

"I don't know...there's something off about Riley's wolf...I don't know why but...she's giving off some kind of...dominance..."

"What does that mean? was she an Alpha?"

"I don't know...I can't contact her wolf...probably because you won't go near her or speak to Riley which is why I can't contact her wolf."

I was surprised when he told me this before I watched Riley raising her fist and it looked like she was about to punch Lindsay but when I called put to her, she slammed her fist into the ground. I thought for sure she was going to kill her but, she didn't do it. When I chose Lindsay to be my mate instead of her, I thought she would have done something out of spite and jealous but, no.

After she stood up from the ground and getting off of Lindsay, I noticed her eyes were flowing a golden colour before reverting back to normal. Once Riley left, everyone sighed in relief while some of them sat on the ground because they were that shocked by her aura. I rushed over to Lindsay and I sat her up and it looks like she was still in shock.

"Lindsay, are you okay?" I asked in a panicked tone.

"I...I...." Lindsay whimpered in fear before continuing. "I think so...what the hell was that...? Riley is not normal...."

"I know. I saw what she did to those rogues when she fought them but, I had no idea that she carried a strong aura like that."

"In all my years of being an instructor I haven't seen a young wolf carry that amount of strength since I was a trainer for one of the royal packs."

I looked at Jim, the instructor and I asked him.

"What do you mean? You know something about Riley?"

"It's a hunch but, I have a feeling this rogue used to be a member of a royal pack. I have met a few wolves who possess that kind of strength but, I can't tell if her parents were members of a royal pack or she could be something else."

"What about that dominant aura? do you think she's born Alpha or something?"

"I don't know. I couldn't tell from her scent or her wolf. The way she fought against Lindsay tells me she may have held back and she has yet to show us her wolf. I have feeling she can't shift or she's hiding her wolf from us."

Now this was starting to become a worry for me. Because if Riley was a member of a royal pack then there must be a reason why she was a rogue in the first place. I need to get to the bottom of this before something else happens.

Riley

I was at Lucy's place after school was over and I told what happened during training and then she started laughing hysterically.

"Oh man! I wish I could have seen Lindsay's face when you kicked her butt!! hahahahaha!!!"

"I think she might have peed herself when I gave her my scary look. She looked absolutely petrified," I chuckled when I remembered how terrified she was when I smashed her face into the ground.

Lucy and I laughed when I told her this and then we both started to calm down afterwards. Lucy looked at me and asked me, "But seriously though, do you think Roman regrets picking her over you after showing off your strength?"

"I doubt it, he'll hate me even more after I kicked his Luna into submission. But, what worries me right now is the word getting out about how strong I am," I told Lucy with a serious look.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. If the council hears about you, then the traitor of the Winterpaw pack will..."

"Yeah, which is why I can't stay for much longer."

"What? Riley you can't leave. Your mate is here and so am I," Lucy told me.

"I know and I'm glad that I got to see you again but, let's not forget that I'm a rogue and your Alpha hates rogues. Plus, he's already got someone who will look after him and be at his side."

"But, he'll change his mind after seeing you fight."

"That's not enough to convince me to stay. You know as well as I do that I can't stay in one place for very long."

Lucy sighed in defeat and then she said to me, "Are you sure you want to leave? You haven't finished school yet."

"True but, I've learnt a lot from other rogues who taught me there was to know about the subjects in school. I know I won't be able to find a job in a human city but, the least I can do is keep moving and learn more from friendly rogues. I've made it this far haven't I?" I spoke with a grin.

"I guess you're right. All right, Riley, if you want to leave that bad then let me help you."

"No, I can't let you do that. Roman will have your head if he knew that you helped me escape."

"Riley, you've been like a sister to me ever since we were little. You and your mother looked out for me and now it's my turn to look out for you."

I smiled at Lucy and then I ruffled her hair. Lucy chuckled and I said to her, "Since when did little Lucy get all brave and strong?"

"I picked it up from you. Now then, I've got some money in my bank account. I'll see what I can gather and I'll make some more scent concealers for you as well."

"I'll head back to Matthew's and get some of my stuff packed away," I told her as I stood up from the couch.

"All right, see you later."

I left Lucy's apartment and headed outside of the building. On the way back to Matthew's place, I heard a few whispers about today's events.

"Well that didn't take long," Aurora commented.

"I'm not surprised. But, we can't stick around here any longer than we need to. It's like I told Lucy, it's only a matter of time before that traitor of my family finds out about us."

I told Aurora as I got closer to Matthew's but then Roman's scent struck my nose. I frowned a little because I knew he was going to give me an ear full. I thought about sneaking into my room until I heard their conversation about me with my strong sense of hearing.

"I'm telling you Matthew, that rogue is hiding something from us. Jim even agreed with as well."

"Stop worrying, Roman. Look I know Riley's insane strength and abilities is a mystery but there's no need to get so paranoid about it," Matthew told him.

"Paranoid? may I remind you what happened that day when my mother died? My father didn't worry about that rogue until he stabbed us in the back and look what happened," Roman spoke in an angry tone.

"Riley is not like that rogue. Has she even done anything to make you feel suspicious about her? Has been secretly meeting up with someone or do you have proof that she has been plotting something behind your back?"

I smirked when Matthew asked him this because we both know that he has nothing on me.

"I...don't have anything to prove, not yet anyway. I got in contact with the other previous packs if they've heard of her and they haven't but, one of the royal packs has mentioned that they have heard of her last name somewhere before."

My eyes widen in shock when he said this because I knew that royal pack all too well since they're the ones who invaded the Winterpaw pack in the first place.

"The Alpha King himself is coming over and see her himself."

'Uh oh. I need to get out of here before he arrives.'

I thought to myself as I hid behind some bushes before Roman came out of the house. I watched him get into his SUV before leaving. Matthew looked in my direction and asked me.

"How long are going to hide there?"

I came out of the bushes and asked him, "How long have you known that I've been hiding and listening to your conversation?"

"Ever since Roman said that the Alpha King of the Eclipse pack is coming over to see you."

"Matthew that's a bad idea. I can't risk letting that Alpha King see me or my wolf for that matter."

"And why is that?"

I kept my mouth shut when he asked me that but, I knew he wasn't going to give up until I told him.

"Riley, are you in trouble with that pack or is there something else you're hiding from me?" Matthew asked me.

I looked around to make sure no one was around and then I told Matthew.

"Not here, inside."

Matthew and I went into the house and I made sure to close the door behind me and then we went into the living room. We sat down on the sofas and I began to tell him my side of the story.

"Before I tell you, how much do you know about the Winterpaw pack?"

"I've heard they were the strongest of the royal packs that ever lived and their leaders were the last remaining lycans until they were invaded by rogues. Why?"

"Because what I'm about to tell you is going to give you the shock of your life."

Matthew looked at me confused before I told him.

"There's a reason why I was born rogue. It's because my parents were from that pack and it was the same pack that got invaded by not only rogues but by my father's brother. He's also my uncle."

Matthew's eyes widen and then he asked me.

"Your uncle? he's the one who was responsible? do you have proof of this?"

"I don't have to. My mother and one of the rogues, who used to work for him, told me everything about that day. Ever since then I kept my head down and lived the life as a rogue."

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"Because my parents were the Alpha King and the Luna Queen of the Winterpaw pack. I kept my mouth shut about them because I knew someone would have came after me to finish off what my uncle failed to accomplish."

Matthew was shocked when I told him this.

"And that's not all. Everyone thinks that all of the lycans have been wiped out but they're wrong. My uncle may have hunted down all of the lycans from the Winterpaw pack but he forgot one, me."

"You mean..."

"That's right Matthew. I'm the heir to the Winterpaw pack and I'm the last royal Lycan.
