Chapter 23 - Test It Is
A/N: Dedicated to my beautiful readers. Your comments make my day a little brighter.
I was startled when Draco dunked my head under the water. “Time to rinse, love, we have a full day tomorrow.” He rinsed my hair and washed my body one more time. I tried to help with his shower but he stuck my idea down every time. I finally heard his thoughts as to why he wouldn’t let me return the favor. He was afraid I wouldn’t get sleep if I washed him. He was barely keeping himself from taking me in every way imaginable. Or, what his dragon wanted.
We dried off and Draco handed me the extra towel for my hair. He grabbed a bathrobe and draped me in it, taking one for himself. I dried my hair as much as I could, braiding it to keep it from looking as if I were bozo the clown.
“Take your time, Kaley. I’m going to check my email messages, okay?” Draco informed me.
“Okay. I’ll be out in a few minutes,” I told him. He walked out of the bathroom and I almost ran to the toilet. I was about to pee on myself and I had a feeling Draco knew from my pee pee dance. You know the one where you shift from foot to foot? Yeah, that one. I peed and washed my face. I brushed my teeth, almost falling asleep in the process. I didn’t realize how tired I was until then.
I stumbled into the bedroom and froze.
I stumbled into the bedroom and froze. I shook my head,, thinking I was seeing things, but it didn’t change anything. I listened to Draco’s mnd, hearing him crying out for me to stop her. He was disguised with himself. He couldn’t stop but his mind could. And, he was screaming with everything in him.
I growled as loud as I could. The woman turned to me and smirked, turning back around and putting her hands on my mate. I couldn feel my family around me but the babies were hiding them - something I had no idea they could do. “Bitch! Take your hands off of my mate before you lose them!” I yelled, calming myself instantly.
“Can’t you see he wants me to kiss him?” She asked me as she stroked Draco’s chest and face. Oh, I see alright. I see a man who is screaming out for my help and my help he was going to get.
“Tear her up, Kaley. Draco’s dragon can’t stand the woman. He doesn’t know why she would act as she is. She’s a friend of one of his warriors. You know, friend?” My wolf growled as she paced in the back of my mind.
I decided to let her hear Draco’s thoughts. I made sure they were loud in her mind. I wanted her to feel the panic he was feeling. She started holding her head and screaming. I stopped with his thoughts and she stood back up and smirked at me. I smirked back at her and nodded my head, my family and Draco’s showing themselves. She was surrounded.
“Bitch!” The woman screeched at me as she ran towards me. I saw Dragon flinch but he didn’t move. I ducked down and came back up flipping her over my back. She bounced back up quickly and punched me in the face. I cracked my neck and popped my jaw back in place.
“I let you have that one, but don’t think you will get another one.” I punched her in the face and swept her feet from under her. “Now, who the fuck are you?”
The woman laughed as if she had totally lost her mind. “I’m Draco’s real mate!” She yelled.
“Bitch, please,” my wolf said sarcastically using my mouth. She had taken me over enough to get her point across, making sure everyone heard her out loud.
“I am! He never wanted anyone else to know. He’s been in my life longer than you have!” She shouted as she stood back up.
I felt the spell break on Draco. He walked up to me and put his arm around my waist. He growled so loud the cavern shook. “You are not my mate. You have never been my mate. You are the warrior’s whore, or at least the unmated ones. You have chased after all of us. You chased Alec thinking he would get you closer to us.”
“You have had a tail on you for a long time.” Dagon eyed her in disgust. ’We know you have been working with the witches and the false god. You thought he would help you get one of us.” He took a deep breath. “But, you will never have us. We have mates and you are not one of ours.”
“What do you want to happen to her, Draco?” Askook asked his brother as Draco shook his head.
“No, my Goddess told me this was what Kaley wanted to do with her. I had already asked her about this bitch.” I turned in his arms. “It’s your decision, beautiful.”
I heard Askook and my mom gasp, but I knew what was happening. I felt the pressure of the silver blade against my skin and looked at Draco. I smiled at him and circled my arms around his neck and kissed him. I know he thought this was my last kiss. He started checking me all over, making sure my back was to everyone.
“I’m good, Draco. The blade didn’t touch me.” I squatted down in front of the woman, making sure my robe covered everything. “Have you ever heard the saying, ’know your enemy?”
“How?” She gasped, blood pooling under her.
“You got what you wanted to do to me. You knew you weren’t his mate, but you couldn’t handle not being a Queen. You didn’t care about him at all. You were planning on mating with the false god and taking his throne.” I shook my head and looked at my gaping mate. “I forgive you.”
I stood up and put my head on Draco’s chest as I cried. I didn’t understand the heartache. I felt bad for the woman. She was lied to and she fell for it hook, line, and sinker. But, her thoughts were her own. She wanted the throne before she ever went to him with her plan. I cried for the loss of innocence she had as a teenager. I cried for her parents who were realizing she had died.
“It’s okay, Kaley. If she changes her ways she will be reborn. You gave her a chance, a chance she wouldn’t have given you,” Draco whispered as he rubbed my back.
I nodded and leaned against him. I was tired but I knew I needed energy, we both did. I hated killing anyone. It never got easier. It never sat right with me, but I had to protect myself in any way I could. I just didn’t have to like it.
We decided to go to the living room and use the big coffee table to eat. I teleported everyone their favorite foods and sat down to eat with them. Everyone was scarfing their food down as if they were hungry lions, not wolves or dragons. I realized I was eating the same way and shrugged my shoulders.
I could feel my energy replenishing itself with every carb and protein I ate. I could feel Draco’s energy replenishing, too, something I’ve never felt before. I thought it might be because he was my mate but I wasn’t sure. I guess it could have been a new power, one I would take.
“I can feel yours, too, Kaley,” Draco mind-linked me as my head shot up. Could he read my thoughts? I wasn’t sure how I felt about him reading my mind.
So, a test it is
I thought about what I wanted to think and thought hard about it. I let him know over and over again that I wanted a kiss, no, I needed a kiss.
“You know all you have to do is kiss me whenever you want, right?” He asked me, a small smirk on his face.
I gasped and lightly slapped his chest. “I didn’t say I wanted a kiss out loud, Draco.”
“Yes you did. I heard you ask me for a kiss,” Draco argued.
Oh, you did, did you? I thought as I looked at him, shocked at how fast he learned.
“Yes, yes I did,” he said out loud.
“You did what?” Trace and Chase asked as they walked over to the couch and teleported food for them and their mate.
“She asked me for a kiss,” Draco announced as a blush covered my face.
My mom looked up and cocked her head. “She never said anything out loud, only you did.”
I nodded my head and smirked.. “I’m going to have to build a block in my brain to keep you from reading my thoughts.”
“Okay...Wait! What?” He asked, a cute confused look on his face.
“You read my mind, Draco. I tested you to make sure,” I said slowly, a shocked look still on my face. I thought about how cute he looked when he was confused. He would cock his head, scrunch up his eyebrows, and sigh.
“I’m not cute when I’m thinking.”
“I rest my case,” I commented as I leaned over and kissed him.
“Oh, my Goddess, I can read minds.” He paused. “Cool.”
I laughed at his excitement and turned to talk to Trace and Chase. “Holy, shit! What happened to you two?” I asked as I pointed to them, shaking my head to see if I was seeing things.
A/N Yeah, I did it again. Sorry, not sorry. I had to leave the end of the chapter here for a reason - a reason you will read in the next chapter. And, the POV will be Trace's.
