Chapter 51 - Cue the Whining

Thank you, thank you to oddball, N.Y.O.B., PenumbraMINE, and Jo Jo Sprout. Y’all have great comments, suggestions, and jokes.

“Give up, Veles, she’s a witch and she can teleport all the way around you and never get tired, plus, she can give a punch to your throat and knock you out in one go,” Alpha Summer commented, clearing up the confusion of how Aurora was moving quickly.

“Come on, Alpha Summer, you know I like to spar,” Aurora whined, causing all of us to laugh. She turned to Veles and stuck out her hand. “Draw?”

“Draw. I have a feeling you would have had me on my ass on your next move, right?” Veles asked her.

“Damn straight, but I’m happy I didn’t have to hurt you,” she confessed as she walked to him and shook his hand.

“I can take you down...”

Dracos POV

“I can take you down,” the idiot stated as stepped into the circle “But, no using your magic stuff.”

I looked at Veles and rolled my eyes. He looked at Aurora and nodded his head to her silent plea. “Yay! I have permission to whoop your ass.”

“Same rules apply. No shifting to your other form and only to submission, got it? I asked the Warrior.

Aurora nodded as did the warrior. “Are you sure you want to do this, warrior?” She asked, making sure he knew what she was saying.

The warrior huffed and walked to the middle of the circle, Aurora trailing behind him, a dark chuckle falling from her mouth. I would need to make sure the warrior played this straight. I knew he would be a hot-head if Aurora beat him. I didn’t want to deal with his whiny ass, but I had a feeling Veles would take care of him if there were any problems.

I watched as Aurora looked over the warrior, looking for any ailments. She was smart because I knew he had a bad knee. I knew the warrior would take in her small size and dismiss her since he took her magic away, but I had a feeling he was in for a rude awakening.

“How good is she, Kaley?” I whispered, making sure no one else could hear me.

“Don’t worry about her. You will need to worry about your warrior,” she whispered, a smile on her face.

I nodded and yelled, “Fight!” The warrior idiot barreled towards Aurora looking as if he was a bull in a china shop. His head was down and I knew he was trying to intimidate her, but she stood still and smirked. She started running towards him and slid through his legs, bringing her fist up and hitting him in the back of his thigh. It was a great move and caused the warrior to stumble and almost fall head first into the crowd.

I heard him growl. I knew nothing good would come from his next move. He ran towards Aurora again, Aurora following his move. I could tell the Warrior was going to punch her hard with his left hand. I knew how hard his hits were and I didn’t want to see Aurora hurt. I could tell Veles was worried, too. He looked as if he was going to run into the middle of their fight, but Alpha Blaine was there in seconds. He grabbed Veles’ shoulder, holding him in place, an amusded look on his face.

I turned back to see Aurora jumped into the air and hooked her right leg around the Warrior’s throat. She was hanging by one leg but it didn’t mean she was done for, no, she did an inverted sit-up and punched him in the throat. Hard. The The warrior went down, coughing and wheezing, Aurora landing gracefully on her feet. She stepped back and walked towards Veles.

Cue the whining

And, accusations

The idiotic Warrior was on the ground and trying to breath through his amazement.

“You cheated. You were not supposed to use your magic!” The warrior yelled, stopping Aurora in her tracks.

Aurora turned around and faced him. “I did not use magic. I used skills I have honed since I was three-years-old. You lost because you failed to see a warrior in front of you. Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I’m weaker than you,” she seethed, her teeth ground together.

I watched my idiotic warrior sputter and spit, but he couldn’t say a thing.. She had him on there. Most people would assume she was weak and couldn’t take care of herself, but as Kaley and Kendra had taught me, they were not weak women and would never be weak.

“Are you finished trying to come up with excuses of why you lost?” I asked, making sure he knew I was done with his shit. He nodded his head and looked down.

I saw Aurora take a step towards him. She hesitated a second and continued her walk to him. “Instead of finding fault, how about we train together and I’ll teach you some new moves, okay?”

“Okay.” He sighed. “I’m sorry I acted like an ass. You are a great fighter and I would love to learn some new moves.” The warrior stuck out his hand. “Hi, my name is Warrior Fredricks.”

Aurora laughed and shook Warrior Fredricks hand. “Hi, my name is Aurora and I’m Veles’s mate.” I watched as he took a step back and lowered his head, Aurora turning towards Veles and giving him a dirty look.

“You don’t need to treat me any differently. I’m going to train with you no matter what my mate thinks,” she told him.

“Warrior Fredricks, it’s okay. She can handle herself and you won’t make me angry. I want everyone to sharpen their skills. My mate, Aurora, probably knows more about fighting rogues, vampyres, and any other species than all of us put together, well, except for Alpha Summer’s family, they are tough as nails,” Veles explained, a cheeky smile on his face towards Aurora.

“Thank you, Gamma Veles and Gamma female Aurora,” the warrior bowed his head and walked away.

Kaley walked over to Aurora and smiled. “I have a question.” She paused. “Uh, when did you become a witch?”

Aurora threw her head back and barked out a laugh. “Ask your grandmother. She thought it would be fun to send me strong powers. She decided it would be a great idea to merge a witch’s soul with mine.” She took a huge breath and shook her head. “And, the best thing, it hurt like a bitch.”

“We know about pain, unimaginable pain. The worst alarm clock ever. It would have been nice to have a little warning,” I told her, both of us nodding and laughing. A white card fell in front of my face. “Oh, the Moon Goddess didn’t have time to tell us. She was busy moving chess pieces. Whatever that means.”

“Sounds like my grandmother,” I heard Kaley say. I walked over to her and took her with me to the main cavern, Aurora and Veles following our example. I knew we had things to talk about, but I wanted a relaxing time with my mate.

We all sat down on the couches, Kaley teleporting snacks for everyone. I knew in a couple hours she would be teleporting breakfast. Her being pregnant meant she would need to eat more to keep her energy up or she would take too much from our child.

My dragon snickered at me and I couldn’t understand what I said to make him laugh, but I ignored him and let him do his thing - which was playing with Kaley’s hair. He had a weird fascination with our mates’ hair. He loved to sniff her hair as we held her each night. I didn’t know why he did what he did, but as long as he loved our mate I didn’t care what he did, and Kaley didn’t either.

“How’s your mom, Aurora?” Kaley asked, a small smile on her face.

“Just ass kickass as she used to be. She’s coming to make sure you eat or fuss over you. I swear she should have been your mom,” Aurora answered.

“I know Joel can’t come with her, so why is she leaving your dad by himself?” Kaley questioned, a worried look on her face.

“She’s going to teleport here a couple hours a day and then go back home at night. I swear she drove my dad and I crazy with her worrying about you. Do you have some funny pictures you are hiding to keep her in line?”

“Nope.” Kaley cheekily smiles. “She likes me better than you.” She sighed. “She was the same way when my mom was pregnant, so I guess it’s my turn, but she does make the best food I’ve ever eaten. Draco, you should taste her pies.” Kaley licked her lips, my eyes darkening. “She’s amazing.”

“Well, okay then. I knew her food was the reason you were nice to her,” Aurora laughed at Kaley’s pouting face.

“Nope. Your mom is great with or without food, right, Marylyn?”

“Damn it! I have never been able to sneak up on you,” I heard a voice say from behind me. I jumped up and stood in front of Kaley. “Down, boy, I mean no harm to your mate. She’s like another daughter to me.”

I cleared my throat, positive my cheeks were glowing red. “I’m sorry, Miss Maryln, but my mate is pregnant and it’s instinctive.”

Marylyn swatted my arm. “I like you. You are a fine mate for my girl.” I watched as her eyes zero’d in on Aurora’s hands linked to Veles. “You found your mate?” She screamed. “This is a fine occasion. My girls have found their mates!” Marylyn yelled.

“Mom, calm down. This is my mate Prince Veles, the Gamma.” I watched in amusement as Veles was jerked to his feet and hugged. I could tell she was hugging him tighter than he’s ever been hugged before. I watched him awkwardly pat her back.

Marlyn let go of Veles and bowed her head. “You need not bow your head to me, Momma Marylyn.”

“I like you. Momma Maryln is a great name, thank you.” She smiled up at Veles. “Now, someone show me to the kitchen. I brought my own supplies to make my pies and chicken spaghetti. I didn’t want to use anything here in case it was still tainted.”

Veles nodded his head. “I’ll show you the way. Do you need any help?”

“Nope. I like to do things my own way.” Kaley tried to get up off the couch, Maryln’s head snapping in her direction. “You sit right where you are at, young lady. I’ve got this.” Kaley nodded her head and scooted back onto the couch.

Veles, Aurora and Marynlyn headed to the kitchen talking and laughing as if they were old friends. I was happy for Vees. He had always been a loner. He looked for his mate and had given up on finding his mate. It was good to see that she fell right into his hands. It was good to see Kaley knew Aurora and liked her. I was worried she would try to run all over Veles, but I could now see they would compliment each other.

We were just getting comfortable when a heavenly smell came from the kitchen. It was making it hard to control my rumbling stomach - which didn't make sense to me. I could hear Kaley's stomach growl loudly. I wanted to laugh at her being hungry again, but I liked my ass where it was at, thank you very much.

I heard sniffing and looked around. Alpha Summer, Blaine, and Zane walked into the living room and were sniffing as if they had allergies. “Why do I smell chicken spaghetti and blueberry pies?” Alpha Summer asked.

“Probably because Marylyn’s in the kitchen cooking dinner,” Kaley sang out.

I watched as the trio’s eyes widened and a big smile crossed their faces. You would have thought they were kids cartoon characters. They looked as if they were in a trance and were following a spell. All three of them sniffed and walked into the direction of the kitchen.

“Whelp-” Kaley tried to say.

I heard someone yelp. “Ouch, Marylyn! What the hell?” Alpha Summer yelled.
