Prologue

It was dark, as it always was. The nearest source of light was just another one like it, and it was hardly close. The only difference was that one didn't have a voice to speak with. This one did.

The world...

Its voice boomed across the empty space, yet, nobody could hear it.

It goes far beyond that which we can see, does it not? It is vast, and we are but specks.

...

You cannot answer. Of course. Can you even hear me?

The space was open. Open and quiet.

No matter. I can hear, and I can answer. I know it goes farther than what passes us by.

There are many things out there to discover. I can feel them! There are countless worlds which we cannot reach from our places, and they sing to me from afar! There are things to find and secrets to discover...

I must reach them. There must be a way. I have been in this place and in this form for long enough. The energy in me is enough, I only need to put it to use... and focus on breaking these shackles...

For a while, there was no change. It was as if nothing was happening. And then, there was a bright light. And then...

Feeling! It existed. It had a body. It had limbs, it had arms and legs with claws that flexed when it wanted to move them. It had a tail that swayed from side to side of its own accord—it could float! It could move around by just willing its body to move! It was no longer the thing it was before, sitting in its place and emitting light.

This meant... that it could now go anywhere it pleased. It opened and closed its newly formed claws. It could go see everything that the world had to offer.

The universe is before me, and I am no longer behind a glass cage. I can finally touch it, with my own body!

With its newly found vigor, it shakily circled its previous resting place, then darted off in the first direction that came to mind.

Exploration was at hand, and it was on a quest to see all that the universe had to offer. Even if it took eons.

genlynne2379: I read the other review of this book and I must say that I disagree with it wholeheartedly. I do not believe the author put the apostrophes in the names just to be unique, but because the characters are supposedly of a different race than humans. They are Anmah. They should have different names a...

Hawkebat: Playing both Kotor I & II and Swtor I found the story line interesting and it held me until chapter 35 Very good story and plot flow until then, very few technical errors. I felt that the main character was a bit under and over powered, as it fought for balance. The last few chapters felt too f...

Alex Rushmer: This was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it a lot Malfoy was always one of the characters that I liked a lot, so I like that a lot of this happens between him and Colette. Dru83: This is the second or third time I've read this one and I just love it. It has just about everything you could ever want packed into one scifi story. It still has some parts that are a little rough in terms of grammar, punctuation, and word usage, but it's still an awesome story. I love how detai...

ernbelle: When I first started this story I was a little unsettled by all of the information that appears in the prologue, and wasn't sure if I would continue. However, I am very glad I did. Nymeria: Really can't get enough of this story. It flows well, it captivates the reader from page 1, and throws you into such a well-written, well conceptualized world that you'll believe it's real. Oru Manna: Within this tale is a cast of characters with intensely unique voices and personas; each one radiating their own desires so clearly, you would think they were all written by different people. kathryncoard: I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced book, that kept me interested . Yes, it was political commentary, which I found to be relevant to many things happening in the world. Mourn8220House: When first reading "Avarice," I thought it would be another fairytale but I was taken back the author's approach and choice of ending.
