Chapter 27

As Dante wandered around pack territory looking for Gabriel, he was lost in thought.

I wonder why the Goddess paired the three of us together. Eden is so young compared to both Gabriel and I, and she's been through a lot harder situations than either of us have been. It is super hard though, trying to find a good middle ground between the three of us.

As he wandered, Dante finally got his thoughts under control and realized that he was near the lake where not long ago, the young to-be Alpha's and Lunas gathered before people went home. Glancing around the bank of the lake, he saw who he assumed to be Gabriel on the other side of the water.

Making his way around the lake, Dante slowly walked up to the other male.

"Why? Why did the Moon Goddess cause me to suffer like this?" Gabriel asked out loud, having heard the other wolf approaching.

"I wish I had answers for you, Gabe, but I don't. All I know is that Eden is worried about you, I'm worried about you." Dante answered, sitting down next to him.

"Why? I'm no one special. I'm not an Alpha, I'm just the child of a Beta who caused the death of his own mother. Eden deserves better than me, she deserves you, a true blooded Alpha that can give her a healthy family and a good life." Gabriel moaned, resting his head between his knees.

"You know as well as I do, that will never happen. Eden will never break the mating bond she has with you, and neither will I, Gabriel. She loves you, I respect you, and you mean too much to either of us for us to just let you go." Dante scolded, resting his hand on his shoulder.

"I feel like a failure. I let my father and my mother down, I let Alpha Hugh and his Lunas down as well. I can't keep the people close to me safe, so why would it be any different with Eden and you." Gabriel wailed, his voice full of sorrow.

"You are not a failure. You are a strong Beta male who has made mistakes. We've all made mistakes, Gabe. Eden has made hers, I mine, and you yours. That's how life happens. I know the Moon Goddess wouldn't want you to sit here and waste away this blessings she's given you with Eden and I because of pain from your past. I feel as though the Goddess has forgiven you, and now it's your turn to forgive yourself Gabriel. Our mate is worried sick about you and I think we need to go to her before she loses her mind." Dante said, smiling at the man beside him.

Gabriel nodded and let the younger man lead him back towards the Packhouse where their mate waited for them.

Opening the door to their bedroom, they were greeted with a dark room. The only light source left on in the room was a bedside lamp.

Eden was asleep on the bed, still wrapped on her robe. She was laying on top of the blankets with a book in her right hand. To her mates, it appeared as though she had fallen asleep waiting for them to return.
"I guess we were gone longer than I thought." Dante smirked, taking the book out of Eden's hand.
"Let's just get some rest, we can talk to her in the morning." he suggested, picking her up so they could pull back the blankets.
Gabriel nodded in agreement, and the three of them got into bed for the night.

"Gabriel!"
Both males woke up too Eden sitting upright in bed, tears trailing down her cheeks.
"Whats wrong?" Dante asked, not quite fully awake.
"You're home, I'm sorry that I asked him to officiate, I can ask someone else. Please don't leave me again." Eden was sobbing by now, and her words were getting choked up by her tears.
"Eden, Hun, I can't understand you. Take a deep breath, it's okay." Gabriel comforted, pulling her into his chest, "Slow down and tell me what's bothering you."
"I'm sorry I upset you, please don't leave. I can ask someone else to officiate, it doesn't have to be Alpha Hugh. I didn't mean to make you mad." Eden stuttered, her breaths catching as she held in her tears.
"Oh, baby, I'm not mad at you. Is that what you thought? I just was upset with myself, and I was just hurting." Gabriel cooed, patting her head and rocking back and forth with her.
"I just thought you were, you were gone all night and I didn't know if you were okay or not. I thought you were mad at me and just didn't want me anymore." Eden explained, her crying starting again.
"You can't get rid of us that easily, baby girl. We're here for good okay?" Dante chimed in, sliding closer to also hold her as well.
Eden nodded as she was crying too hard to answer with words.
"Eden, let's ask Alpha Hugh to officiate today. I'll come with you as I owe him an apology. I want you to know that I'm not upset with you though, and I will never leave you." Gabriel promised, kissing her forehead.

"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Eden asked for what must have been the one hundredth time as her and her mates approached Alpha Hugh's door.
"Yes, Eden. I'm sure." Gabriel answered, smiling at her.
As Gabriel raised his hand to knock on the door, it suddenly opened and he was face to face with Alpha Hugh.
"Gabriel!" The Alpha gasped in shock, "What are you doing here?"
"Eden and I came to ask you a question." Gabriel answered, glancing down at the smaller female who was smiling back up at him.
"We were wondering if you would officiate our mating ceremony?" Eden asked, causing the Alpha to continue staring at her in shock.
