Garlic butter steak
I was waiting outside Jade’s house, wearing a white button-down shirt and my fitted, navy blue suit. I’d left a few of the top buttons open. Marcelo claimed it made me look less stuck up, at which I had growled at him for.
Everything was set and ready for our date. When the door opened, my jaw literally hit the ground. I already knew she was beautiful, but now she looked absolutely stunning.
“Oh my.. wow!” I exclaimed. I was lost for words. She blushed in response.
“Eh, you look good too.” she said, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
I offered her my arm, and she took it, and I led her to my 2021 Ram 1500 truck. I could have borrowed a car more appropriate for a date, but I didn’t want to portray something I wasn’t. I was about to lift her inside, but she easily jumped in on her own. I walked over to my side, honestly a little disappointed, and got in the drivers seat.
“I know you’re not compensating, so whats with the big truck?” she asked with a playful glint in her eye.
“Back home, a lot of our land is uneven terrain and dirt roads. It’s practical, and bad ass” I replied, smirking. She huffed a laugh.
“Oh, I’d love to learn how to drive something like this!” she said biting her lip.
“I’d be happy to teach you some time” I replied, taking her hand in mine.
We drove for about an hour until we reached the restaurant. It was a fancy steak house, close to the ocean. I stopped the car and jogged around to her side. I just made it before she opened the door herself. She took the hand I offered her, and climbed out. We walked inside, holding hands.
The atmosphere was calm and the decor was stylish. The place was packed, soft chatter echoing of the dark walls.
“Good evening Sir, do you have reservations?” the hostess asked with a flirtatious grin, eyeing me up and down.
“Hayes” I said, my voice stoic. Her eyes widened and she immediately bowed her head.
“Alpha, please follow me.” she said and led us up the stairs. On the top we walked out on to a big terrace, covered by glass, like a greenhouse. It was warm and comfortable. Only one table was set, surrounded by hundreds of candles. I led Jade over to the table and pulled out her chair.
“This is amazing!” she said looking around, her eyes wide.
“Nothing compared to you” I whispered in her ear before walking over to my seat across from her.
“Can I get you some something to drink?” the hostess asked. I looked at Jade.
“Eh, a glass of white wine?” she said, her eyes darting to me, like she was checking if I agreed with her choice.
“A bottle of Tissot Vin Jaune La Mailloche 2012” I said, still looking at Jade.
“Right away, Alpha” the hostess replied, bowing her head before walking back inside.
“How did you manage to put this together in such short notice? Isn’t there like a 4 month waiting list to get a table here?” she asked, looking amazed.
“This chain is actually owned and run by werewolves.” I said, smirking.
“The Red River pack to be specific, which kinda makes me their boss, hence why we have the roof to ourselves” I continued, feeling a bit smug.
“Oh! Any suggestions of what to order then?” She asked scanning the menu.
“The garlic butter steak and the rib eye are my favorites. Pair it whatever sauce and potatoes you want, its all designed to fit together.” I replied.
“Oh, wow, you tried it all?” she asked with a crocked half grin.
“Yes, it’s actually mostly my recipes.” I replied, taking her soft hand in mine. We were interrupted when a waiter came over with the wine.
“Are you ready to order?” he waiter asked politely. He turned to Jade first, which is how it’s supposed to be, ladies first.
“Yes um, I’ll have the garlic butter steak, medium rare, with pepper sauce, and chunky fries, please.” Jade said, glancing to me. I smiled and winked at her in approval. The joy in her eyes made my heart swell.
“I’ll have the Rib eye, rare, whiskey sauce and creamed potatoes.” I said before taking a sip of my wine.
“Very good, I will rush the order.” he said bowing his head, and then walking off.
“I didn’t know you were a romantic” she said, blushing.
“Neither did I, until I met you” I replied, fiddling with the stem of my wine glass. It was true. I’ve never actually had an urge to be romantic before, but now, all I wanted to do was make her happy, make her laugh, woo her. She bit her lip. That was all it took to get me hot and bothered. But I kept my posture.
“Really?” she said with a sly grin. I put my elbows on the table and leaned over the table, smiling widely.
My eyes dropped to her delicious, plump, pink lips. I saw her hitch a breath when she noticed what I was looking at. She squirmed a little in her seat, making me wonder if she was already wet. I felt a twitch in my cock, just at the thought. I discreetly adjusted myself under the table, just as the waiter emerged with our food. I cleared my throat, hoping to drag my head out of the gutter.
Jade cut a piece of her steak, dipped it in the sauce, and put it in her mouth. She let out a low moan in delight. Warmth spread inside my chest and down to my groin again. It was a bit early to go there yet, so I started talking, hoping it would distract me for a while.
“So, do you cook?” I asked her, as I cut off a piece of my rib eye steak.
“I don’t really cook for anyone besides myself, so I don’t know if I’m actually any good, but yes, I do make food, and it tastes OK to me at least.” she replied, taking a sip of her wine. Her eyes widened.
“Oh, wow! The wine tastes really good with the food!” she exclaimed, licking her lips. Shit, this was gonna be a long meal if she kept this up. Everything she did made me lust for her. I took a deep breath before I replied.
“Yes, you wanted white wine, and this one goes well with red meat.”
“Not at all what I expected” she said, taking another sip.
We talked and ate for a while. She seemed relaxed. I told her about my first kiss, which was in the third grade. A girl had been calling me chicken shit, because I refused to kiss her. So I ended up kissing her sister in retaliation. Jade laughed out loud, and wiped away a tear.
“Wow, did she stop bothering you after that?” she asked between giggles.
“Yeah, she did.” I replied, putting the last piece of my meal in my mouth
“So tell me about your first kiss” I said with a sly grin. The color drained from Jade’s face in an instant. She started heaving for breath. I abruptly realized my mistake. It didn’t occur to me that the subject might be a part of her troubled past. I quickly moved to her side, squatted and took her hands in mine. I tried to meet her eyes, but she was just staring in to space.
“Jade! What can I do? How can I help?” I asked as calmly as I could. She turned to looked at me with her tear-soaked, panicked eyes, but said nothing. Her hands were shaking. I did the only thing that felt right.
He gently lifted me up and sat down on my chair, placing me on his lap. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me to his chest. My head was on his shoulder and my forehead was resting against his cheek. He started stroking his hand over my temple and in to my hair, while talking quietly.
“I’m sorry. You’re OK. You’re safe. Please. I’m so sorry.” his voice was pleading and vulnerable.
I closed my eyes, and put my hand on the exposed skin of his shirt opening. Feeling the warmth of his skin and his beating heart under my palm, grounded me. I started breathing with him, while trailing my fingers over his chest hair. It had only taken a few minuets for him to completely drag me out of a major panic attack. An attack of this magnitude would usually leave me out of service for days. My nerves would be shot, and I would be completely drained.
I now felt totally calm. Energized even.
I glided my hand up his throat and around the back of his head. I felt his breathing get heavier. I tilted my head up and gave him a feathery kiss. He kissed me back with a little more force, making butterflies erupt in my stomach. I pulled back from the kiss, and rested my forehead to his. Just being so close to him, had my body begging for more. He kissed me again, harder, running his hands over my side.
Suddenly he picked me up and started striding to the exit.
“Wait! Where we going? What about dessert?” I said gasping.
“We’re going for dessert” he mumbled.
