Chapter two

Before I continue with this chapter, I just want to clear some things up. This is my first time writing something like this so please don’t expect it to be something it’s not.

I am also dyslexic (and am proud to say so) I really struggle with spelling and gramma, I’m not telling you this for pity or anything like that. The only reason I’ve mentioned this is to warn you in advance that my story won’t be perfect, far from it.

Please feel free to comment with any spelling mistakes, it will really help me out if you do. Anyway I hope you are all safe in this difficult time and are happy and healthy. V.W

April ran and ran until her blisters had blisters but she didn’t dare stop, the growling was growing closer and closer. April looked over her shoulder for a millisecond but that signal action was her undoing, for what stared back at her was something horrific, with blood red eyes that seemed to stare into her soul and a black midnight coat so deep it bled into the forest.

Other eyes appeared but not the same, some blue while others green or yellow. But something that was the same about them all was the fact that they seemed to glow, like they were electrified somehow.

April turned, so that she was facing them now and looked them dead in the eye, refusing to yield. That seemed to do something to them, for they whimpered and ran back towards the way they came, tails tucked between their legs.

A deep, earth shattering growl shook April from her daze. Common sense set in, she instantly started running, not caring where just that it was away from the terrifying sound. Something was happening, something wrong and she didn’t like it, not one bit but before April had the chance to investigate, pain shot through her body so sharp, it was like a hundred silver bullets plunging through her body over and over again, specifically her back. Before April knew it wings grew from her back, so big they touched the floor.

Lightening struck coming down one by one, electricity coursed through her, filling her sole being until there was nothing left but red hot pain.

April’s eyes snapped open, and she was instantly on her feet in a fighting stance, ready to hurt anyone who dare come too close to her.

Calm down, it was just a dream nothing more.” April’s wolf, Belle assured, but the thing is, it didn’t feel like a dream. It was like a memory almost, maybe she was just thinking to much into it but April had learned a long time ago to always trust her gut and that was what her gut was telling her.

April glanced out the window and found that it was four or five o’clock in the morning, for it was dawn. Even though she probably had eight hours of sleep, April was completely and utterly exhausted, her body stiff and tense, mind foggy, trying hard to catch up with the resent events but was failing miserably.

Her stomach growled like a tiger, so she started to make her way towards what April hopped was the kitchen. Upon entering the new found kitchen, April noticed that it was absolutely massive. With a beautiful marble island in the centre, with deep grey counters aligning the walls. A sink was in the centre of the room, nestled between counters with a double fridge to the right and two ovens to the left.

“Good morning little one, I trust that you slept well?” Juniper’s morning voice sent shivers down her down her spine.

“I did thank you” April responded, it was unnerving how friendly her mate was being, considering last nights events.

“I slept well thank you for asking.” Sarcasm laced her tone as Juniper responded. There was the Juniper she knew and well didn’t love, yet. April set to work making breakfast, quickly grabbing the ingredients she needed, April started to make two cheese omelettes.

The delicious smell of food filled the air as April cooked her mate, seated behind her on the kitchen island sipping away at her freshly made coffee.

In no time at all, food was read and was being plated but disaster struck as April burnt her hand on the boiling hot land she was using. The smell of burnt flesh filled the room, you could hear the sizzle and pop as the skin was being burnt and boiled.

Juniper was instantly in front of her, cradling her hurt hand, before sticking it under the the tape.

“How could you be so stupid and reckless, I thought you were an adult, why weren’t you more carful?” Juniper ranted, it was evident that she was concerned

“It was an accident, accidents happen but I’m ok, am I dead no, am I still breathing, standing and talking with you yes I am, there for I am ok.” April removed her hand from the under the tap and showed Juniper that it was completely healed, apart from the fact there was a small scar the size of a pound.

“Promise me you won’t do anything like that again ok, promise me.” Juniper looked scared almost, like April would shatter or vanish into smoke in any second.

“I promise, cross my heart and all.” April said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood.

Junipers expression softened some, until a full blown smile graced her face. Breakfast forgotten, they stared into each other’s eyes, faces inching closer and closer by the second.

“Will you two, I don’t know get a room!?” Someone shouted from across the room, snickers followed until laughter filled the room, full out laughter.

The two women looked towards the exit/ entrance of the room and found quite a few pairs of eyes staring back at them, joy reflected in them.

“Like you’re one to talk Lucas.” Juniper said with a cheeky smile. “Anyway meet your new pack member.” Everyone now zoomed in on April.
