THE BEGINNING
“I’m so bored!” Kavya said. She was wearing a purple T-shirt and black leggings. She had lightbrown skin and dark brown hair and eyes the color of her hair to match. The sun was bright and high in the sky.
Kavya’s house was brown with some white pillars at the entrance door, and sunlight was pouring down the house like syrup on a pancake.
Inside, Ally had come over and the two of them were still pondering on what to do. “Do you want to... go on a walk? Nah that’s what we JUST did.” said Ally answering herself almost at once. Ally had brown hair, chocolate-colored eyes, tan skin and just like Kavya she was fourteen. Ally was wearing an off-the-shoulder pink shirt and metallic silver leggings.
“I have an idea!” Kavya jumped up and shouted. But, almost as quickly as she’d got it, the idea faded away.
“A CARNIVAL!!!” Kavya shouted at the top of her lungs. “A CARNIVAL??!!!!!!!! NO ONE ever TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A CARNIVAL IN TOWN!!!!!”
Ally smothered a laugh and managed to say, “Of course there is a ’CARNIVAL’ Kavya!” But that was all she could say before she started laughing.
They got a ride to the carnival from Kavya’s dad (Kavya’s mom was divorced). When they arrived, Kavya and Ally were SOOO hungry. It had been a couple of LONG hours before either of them had eaten.
“I’m starving. Let’s eat, then we can ride the roller coaster. That café over there looks good.” Ally pointed to a small red brick building. Above the tinted glass window, there was a big stone sign, that had ’Pattie’s Café’ engraved into it.
“I’ll get sick if we eat before the ride. We can eat right after.”
Yashna, a girl with black hair, dark brown eyes, and light brown skin, was excited for the carnival. She was fourteen and had grown out of her LOVE for carousels but had NOT grown out of her love for cotton candy and roller coasters! She was wearing a blue shirt that had a little dog on it. It read ’It’s called fashion. Ever heard of it?’ After twenty minutes on the roller coaster, Yashna sat down at an empty table to munch on some delicious cotton candy. A while later, twogirls (Ally, and Kavya) walked up to her.
“Hey,” one of them said. “I’m Ally, and this” Ally said pointing at the other girl, “Is Kavya.”
“Hey!” Yashna said smiling at the twogirls, “I’m Yashna, and well, I’m fourteen, what about you guys?”,”
“Fourteen,” Came a straight response from Ally and Kavya. Kavya observed, “I’ve seen you at school... you go to Ridge High School... right?”
“Well, Kavya and I were just about to take a ride on the new roller coaster. You want to come?”, Ally asked, grinning.
“Yeah!”
“DOGS!!!”, All three of them shouted at the same time, bursting with excitement. By the time they were done laughing, they had arrived at the roller coaster.
“Looks like we’re here,”, Ally smiled. They were looking at a tall, loopy track, and about fifty roller coaster cars. The cars were white with black polka dots, and they were each the size of a hot tub. Ally, Yashna, and Kavya, watched as the cars went up, down, left, right and did several loop-de-loops, like people hurrying to get to the right store before the sale at the mall ended.
“Excuse me, would you like a ride on this ‘coaster’?”, A man asked. The girls’ spun around. A fat little man was behind them. He was wearing a bright orange vest with neon stripes, that had a name tag on it which read “Bob”. He had dark blue jeans and his eyes were the color of a lush green jungle. His hair was red, and he had a beard that matched, but you could easily tell that his hair was a toupee. He was wearing red leather cowboy boots, and his voice sounded southern.

“Oh, um, she just thinks the – well, uh, - I, I told her a joke and she must be thinking of it,”, Yashna fibbed. She put on a fake smile.
“Okey, we’ll get you on the next ride!” Bob yelled! He was speaking like he was talking to little old ladies who could only hear a cat purr. He pulled a pickle out of his pocket and took a big bite out of it.
“Thank you...?” Ally said, more as a question than a statement. She pulled out a pink leather journal and a metal pen and wrote, ’donot talk to strange men who have toupees and southern accents’ with her loopy cursive handwriting.
“Okey, we’ll get you on the next ride!” Bob yelled! He was speaking like he was talking to little old ladies who could only hear a cat purr. He pulled a pickle out of his pocket and took a big bite out of it.
A couple minutes later, Bob loaded them into one of the cars. There was a little couch thing and a tiny table.
“Well, this is nice,”, Kavya commented.
“Yes, it is,”, Yashna agreed. The three girls squished into the couch, and Yashna set her cotton candy on the table.
Ally started to notice that the sky was getting darker. “Do you think it’s going to rai-”.
“RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!”
A loud noise startled the girls. Just then water came raining from the sky, like a bucket of water was just dumped on them.
“I’m freezing! I wish I could just snap my fingers and,” Ally paused to snap her fingers. “get something warm to WARM MY HANDS. FIRE APPEAR RIGHT KNOW!”, Ally yelled.
Kavya snickered “THAT is NOT going to wo-” but she got cut off.
To everyone’s astonishment, right there a fire appeared!
“Ok, that was really creepy,”, Kavya said, inching away from Ally.
“It was just our imagination,” Yashna tried to convince herself.
“Well, as long as it’s here, I can warm up.”, Ally shrugged. She slowly got closer to it. She reached out to touch it.Yashna yelped.
When she touched it though, nothing happened!
“Oh, that’s nice,” Ally said not noticing that she had just touched fire.
Kavya’s jaw dropped open.
“Guys let’s just forget about-”,Kavya motioned to Ally and the fire. “-that.”
“Hey, look! The sun’s out again!”, Yashna exclaimed. Kavya and Ally looked up. Wow,the sky looked like a painting. There were little cotton ball clouds and there was a beautiful ombre of red, pink, yellow, and orange, splattered in the sky. It looked like a fantasy world coming to life.
Ally wasn’t so sure. She touched the fire- she felt it- held it. But it didn’t hurt the tiniest bit. Something was going on. Something weird. And she was determined to find out exactly what it was.
“This is really fun. I just wish it was more decorated. The black and white is just blah. You know what would be cool? Little crystals. Yeah, little purple crystals aligned neatly along the sides.”, Kavya pointed out signaling to the black and white roller coaster car.
The car started shaking. Ally peered over the side.
“OMG. WHAT IS THAT?”, Ally screamed. Yashna and Kavya quickly looked at the outside of the car. There were little growing dots all over the car. They grew and grew and grew. They became purple crystals!
“Um, guys? I think that I just made those crystals appear.”, Kavya exclaimed reluctantly.
“Remember what we said? Stay calm, stay calm, just our imagination,”, Yashna slowly said.
“I’m thirsty. Do you guys have any cups of water?”, sheasked hopefully.
“I don’t have any”, Kavya said.
“My favorite cups are those ones they have at the zoo, you know, the wood cups?”, Yashna said unnecessarily. cotton candy!“, She said with her mouth full. She swallowed.
“No, sorry I don’t have any either.”, Ally told Yashna.
“Yashna. Am I seeing what I think I’m seeing?”, Kavya asked, alarmed. Yashna slowly lowered her eyes to the table. Right in front of her was a wood cup with water inside.
“Guys, that’s real stone, smoke, and fire.” Ally realized surprisingly. “I could try to make it grow.” She put out her hands. “Volcano, grow!” The volcano got larger. First it got taller, then it got wider.
“Woah!” Kavya marveled. Next to the track, there was a small volcano, the size of a wedding cake.
“Kavya, try to, um, put a crystal in my hand.” Yashna instructed Kavya. She held out her hand. Kavyatook a deep breath and closed her eyes. She thrust out her hand, and at that very moment, a crystal appeared in Yashna’s hand.
“Wow” Yashna saidexamining the crystal.
It was about the size of a tennis ball. It was periwinkle, and it shimmered in the sunlight. It looked magical. It really was beautiful.
“Yashna, you try to make that plant grow and that water bucket fill with... Uh water,” Ally said. She pointed to a small plant in the grass.
“Ok.”
The bucket filled with water and the plant grew slowly but eagerly. It was hard for the girls not to laugh, because the plant looked like it was dancing.
“I have the power of nature including water. . .?” Yashna agreed.
“I have the power of fire,” Ally explained hesitantly.
“And I have the power of crystals.” Kavya understood.
“Hey guys, look at that crystal that Yashna is holding,” Ally said.
There was a faint beam of light leading down a path.
“Let’s follow the light once we get off the roller coaster.” Yashna decided.
After a few minutes of silence, the roller coaster slowed down to a stop.
“Let’s walk towards the light, but AFTER THAT can we go to Pattie’s Café?” Ally demanded.
“Sure.” Kavya replied.
They walked a bit
Congratulations you three! I think you have realized that you girls have powers. I cannot reveal who I am, but you will need to trust me. You have been given these powers to fight evil.
Yashna – you have nature powers and can also control water. Whenever you use your powers, you are to be known as Growth, and may not use your regular name. Your identity as Growth must be kept secret. I trust that you will follow all these instructions.
Ally- you have fire powers. When using your powers, you must go by Flame, and keep your identity secret, except from Yashna and Kavya.
Kavya- you have crystal powers. You must always be known as Crystal when using your powers, because no one except for Ally and Yashna can know about your powers.
You three will all be known as the P.G. for Power girls.
“So, I think we’re not supposed to tell anyone about this?” Kavya pondered.
“Uh huh.” Yashna said. “Like the note said, we could, NO, we WILL save the day, well, whatever or whoever the DAY needs saving from, that is.”
“Yeah. With secret identities. WOW. It feels like we’re, I don’t know, 6-year-olds playing a silly game!” Ally exclaimed.
“And MY secret identity will be Growth, and we’ll be the P.G. for Power girls.” Yashna exclaimed happily.
“I know this is weird, but it’s kind of exciting. Now come on. Let’s go to that café place.” Ally said, exhausted.
“Yeah, I’m starving!” Kavya agreed cheerfully.
“It’s a long walk from here to the café, so let’s wait for the carriage to get here,” Yashna told them.
A couple of minutes later, a small vehicle came along and stopped for them. It was lavender and had little flower patterns along the bottom. It had small pink wheels, that were shaped like a bicycle. It had a bench that had just enough room for four people to fit on. 2 poles were along the sides, and at the top of the poles the roof was attached. The bench was made from soft blue velvet.
Ally climbed in, then Yashna, then Kavya.
“Where to?” The driver asked.
He turned around, and the girls saw that he was Bob.
Ally rolled her eyes. “Hi Bob,” She sighed.
“OH HI!” Bob yelled eagerly.
“Can you take us to Pattie’s Café?” Kavya asked politely.
Yashna looked to see Ally’s head pressing against the bench angrily. Ally looked at Bob, annoyed.
“Calm down,” Yashna whispered to Ally.
“Whatever. HEJUST- UGH!” Ally whispered back.”
“Well,” Yashna said. “It’s time to eat cotton candy and THEN SAVE THEWORLD.”

“It’s time to eat cotton candy and THEN SAVE THE WORLD.”
