I stared at him in shock, he was willing to drop his life to protect me. I couldn’t let that happen. He went to reach out to put his hand on my arm, and back up not letting him touch me again.
“Listen, Antonio, you have all of this.” I said waving my hands around, “don’t throw it all away, don’t risk your life for someone you don’t know.” I said. I continued to back away from him. He looked at me, his eyes never wavering from mine. The more I walked backwards away from him, the more he walked forwards toward me. “I don’t want to harm you!” I said putting my hand up. Bumped into the wall which gave him the chance to corner me. He grab a hold of my wrists, pinning them to the wall.
His gaze never left my eyes, ′how bella. I need to resist, and protect.′ he thought loosening his grip on my wrists. He let out a graveyard sigh.
“Listen, I don’t know why I know this but something is going to happen tonight. I don’t want you to get hurt.” He said bowing his head. He let go of my wrists and brought his arms down slowly. I could feel his want for me, though I wasn’t exactly sure if it was his. The way he pinned me against the wall sent butterflies rushing through my stomach. What I felt could be my want for him to touch me more.
“Fine. You can stay with me. You will take the couch.” I told him. He picked his head up, his eyes full of joy. He knew something was wrong but couldn’t tell. I needed to get to know him more, and this would give me the chance to do so.
He led me into the garage, there were so many different types of sports cars. I couldn’t tell you what car is what, I know nothing about them. We got inside one that seemed extremely expensive and nice.
After twenty minutes we arrived to my apartment building. The ride there was quiet, and I when I say quiet I mean it. He tried his best to have zero thought, nothing I could read to gauge how the rest of the night was going to go. He never said a word. I walked him up to the door.
“Tony, you stay out here and guard the place, si?” Tony nodded his head. Tony was a taller man, broad shoulders. He was fit, quite muscular, nothing like Anontio though. He had dark blue eyes, and face that would make women melt. He stood next to the door with hand crossed in front of his body, he looked like a statue.
We walked into a shoe box of an apartment. I scanned the room to see where the exit points are. How fast if an escape we could make, you know just thinking ahead if anything goes wrong. She had plants everywhere, all different kinds. Vines hung from hanging baskets, leaves littered the floors. Yet, with all this her place still looked clean, in fact just about spotless. A few leaves here and there, but I was mostly impressed. She walked into what you could call a kitchen after closing and locking the door.
“Tea?” She asked me as she pulled down a box filled with tea bags. I nodded my head while still looking around. “What kind?” She asked as she took two tea bags out for herself.
“Well what are you having?” I asked her. She glanced up at me still putting her tea together.
“Chamomile, it’s good for calming the nerves and sleep.” She said. Lord knows I could use that. She had my nerves all jumbled up.
“That works.” I told her. I walked over to the door and took off my shoes and then sat on the couch. For what seemed like a thrift store couch, it was comfortable.
“So, how long have you been in the ‘business’” she asked me with and emphasis on business. I chuckled and rubbed the back of my neck.
“My entire life.” I said with a smile. She a made and face and nodded. I wasn’t sure what it meant. “You know, I could almost ask you the same question.” I said to her. She turned me, she looked confused. “Well I just say....this, uh, coven, you speak of. It does seem much like the business as you say, that I do.” Still staring at me she cocked and eyebrow.
“Well, I guess you might be right.” She said walking over with two teas in her hands. She handed me mine before sitting down on the other side of the couch. She brought her leg and and faced me. “So” she said taking a sip of her tea. “Why did you help me? You know nothing about me. I am a complete stranger to you, and yet you saved me.” Her bright emerald eyes staring into me looking for answers.
“I’m not sure, I felt this strong desire to help you. I don’t know where it came from. It just felt something saying I should.” I said to her. I took a sip of me tea. It was still extremely hot, but it was the best tea I had ever tastes.
“Hmm..” she said I could there were thoughts flying around in her head. I wasn’t sure if they were more questions or if she knew why I was so inclined to help her. Before she could say anything there was a loud thud, followed by a knock at the door. She shot up from her seat, dropping her tea. She carefully walked over to the door, and peered through the peephole to see who it was. She crouched down to the floor, her breathe began to pick up in speed and her eyes were wide.
I couldn’t believe what I saw. He sent the strong man in his coven. Strongest physically not magically. I slowly stood back up, backing away from the door. I looked over at Antonio who had his hand on his gun.
“Hello?” The man standing behind the door had a strong Russian accent. “Miss Valentino I know you are in there.” He said. I was beginning to panic.
“Why are you here?” I yelled at him. You could the panic in my voice.
“Well, the boss sent me to come and get you! I am here to take you back.” He said. I promised myself I would never go back.
“Where is Tony?” Antonio yelled now pointing the gun at the door.
“Oh the little guy? He is just taking a little forced nap.” He chuckled. I could Antonio tighten his grip on his gun, when the door was ripped off of it’s hinges. I screamed falling backwards onto the floor.
“I-I won’t go with you Vladamir!” I yelled crawling away from him on the floor.
“So? We are going to do this the hard way..shame.” he said with a fake frown. He tried to use his magic to take me, knowing my charms and protections I knew only I could use magic in this space. I kicked back at him. This gave me enough time to run next to Antonio. “You want to do this hard way? Fine. We do this hard way.” He said picking up the couch and throwing it at us. I sent it back to him before it got the chance to hit us.
The couch slammed into him, causing him to fly into the kitchen counter breaking it. He stood up like nothing has happened and lunged forward. Antonio fired his gun at the same time. I began to panic knowing the shot would only make Vladamir angerier.
“STOP!” I screamed as loud as I could, and closed my eyes. The fists that formed while awaiting the attack flew open. Everything was quiet. I opened my eyes and saw Vladamir in mid air, frozen in place, the bullet was stopped and so was Antonio. I had never done anything like this before; I touched Antonios arm causing him to unfreeze. He looked around in shock.
“Wha-” I didn’t give him time to speak I began pulling him towards the door. I wasn’t sure how long this was going to stay. He tried to pull away from me.
“We have to leave now! I’m not sure how long this holds and I don’t want to be here when he unfreezes!” I demanded. He looked over at Vladamir in the air.
“Give me a second.” He knocked the bullet out of the air. He walked over to, he pulled out his gun and shot Vladamir in the knees. He left a quick note reading “Let this be warning.” I knew it was only going to make matters worse but at time I didn’t care. I waved my hand signalling that we had to leave. He grabbed my hand, I woke Tony up, and we ran to Antonios car.
He sat in the driver’s seat.
“Nope, get out. I’m driving.” I demanded from him. He looked at me with shock.
“Absolutely not!” He yelled back. I could anger rising. I stared him down. I could my eyes flash to red in the reflection of his sun glasses. Knowing this scared him he eventually gave in. I sat down, buckled up. Once Antonio was in the car I didn’t care if he was buckled or not. Tony sat in the back. I took off.
“Where are we going?” He demanded from me. Antonios eyes blazing with anger, I could tell if it was toward me or for me.
“A place.” I said. I didn’t want to tell him, and not only that I’m they only one that can actually get is there.
“What. Place.” He growled at me. I could feel a pit forming in my stomach. He started to frighten me but I had to stay focused.
“Listen, I will tell you everything and we get there but for now all I can say is that it’s a place.” I yelled back. Tony adjusted himself in the back seat, feeling uncomfortable and scared at the events that occurred and are occuring before his eyes.
I flew up the high way making our way to the coast. The car ride was filled with unwanted angry energy and silence. ‘he will forgive me.’
