Prologue

Prologue:

Stone walls and stone floors. Her room almost looked like a dungeon. In fact it was a dungeon. The door is sealed shut from the outside with a three inch steel bar. There were only the basics in the stone room. A bed, a desk in the corner of the room with a wooden chair neatly tucked in; on top of the desk sat an old typewriter with a blank piece of paper in it. A night stand next to her bed with some old books on top of it. There were no light fixtures in the room. Her real source of light for the dark room came from the fireplace that was against the stone wall. A young paled faced girl with green eyes adverted her gaze away from full moon that hung in the star lite sky outside her window; she drew in a long and deep breath than slowly exhaled. Her dark brown hair fell in front of her face, she pushed her hair back behind her ear with her index finger. Her green eyes were now fixed on the old typewriter with the blank piece of paper ready to be typed on. She got up from the window seat where she was sitting all evening and made her way towards the desk, she pulled out the chair and sat down trembling with fear. Taking in another deep breath she started to type slowly and as quietly as she could.

“I’m always searching. Searching for the right words to say at the right time. Searching for truth in my infested world of dark twisted tangled lies. In all honestly, I don’t know what exactly I am looking for. I’m completely lost and alone. Maybe I’m looking for meaning or love? Who knows? I’ve been numb to everything for as long as I remember. That feeling of searching I could never fully shake; it’s eating away at my soul and mind not knowing what I’m searching for. I really need it though. Desperately. I need to explain more I guess. Explain more about who I am and my purpose for typing all this down on an old typewriter. It is safer this way. I can’t use computers or any other devices that have or that can connect to the internet.

THEY will find out. THEY always do. I’m one hundred percent sure that once I finish writing my memoirs or whatever this is; I’ll just take a look at it for a moment then crumple it up and throw it in the fireplace and watch it burn up in fire. I need to get this out, I’ve been holding this in my entire life. I’ve been living two completely different lives. During the day I am J-”

A knock came from outside her dungeon door. The young girl stopped typing then glanced up from her typewriter and turned her attention towards the door that was locked from the outside. Her heart started to race again. She grabbed the piece of paper she was typing on and throw it into the fireplace, it caught on fire. She cleared her throat to speak.

“Come in!”

the unedited writer: It's a guilty pleasure. The characters are brought to life and you find yourself loving them worrying for them and so on. The plot was serious but at the same time it had a light tone that didn't make you depressed as other drama genres. 5 stars for me

genlynne2379: I read the other review of this book and I must say that I disagree with it wholeheartedly. I do not believe the author put the apostrophes in the names just to be unique, but because the characters are supposedly of a different race than humans. They are Anmah. They should have different names a...

Stephen Warner: To start off, I am thoroughly impressed. The writing style is somewhat unique, and the plot seemed to move at a nice and steady pace.
