βWho are you?β My voice nothing more than a whisper easily conveyed my confusion as I tried to make out his face.
βThe real question is who are you?β His low baritone voice rumbled the air as he spoke making a shiver run down my back.
βI-I asked you first.β My breathing was hoarse, the tight pinch in my side throbbing angrily demanding a break making me hold it in hopes of some relief.
βAnd I asked you second. But it doesnβt matter who asked who first, youβre on my lands, and I want to know why.β I could hear his patience running low as he spoke, clearly not too fond of me anymore.
βI was just passing through, nothing more. I come in peace-β
βAnd youβll leave in pieces if you donβt answer me, now who are you!?β My wolf gently bristled at the threat the man spoke. Would he really kill me if I didnβt tell him my identity? What if I just lied, would he notice?
βIβm a messenger from the Reevahno pack, Alpha Kane sent me, but I got lost up those hills and I somehow wandered onto your trail by accident. Like I said I come in peace simply trying to get back to my destination.β Please believe me please believe me! The sound of my heart slamming into my rib cage was loud in my ears I just prayed he didnβt hear it too.
βAlpha Kane?β¦β the silence that came after his question was deafening, the forest had gone quiet, even the slight rustle of the leaves had stopped.
Swallowing hard I prepared to answer only to be hushed violently. I didnβt see him move, only felt the slight wind brush against my skin before the sharp end of cold silver pressed deep into my cheek making it impossible to speak. His hand had wrapped around my neck succeeding in slamming me into the tree. My head was tilted so far back it hurt my neck as I finally came face to face with the man in the shadows. Moonlight beamed down on his face flooding his features in different low lights.
Though I was stuck, it was the fiery color of copper that held me still. Never had I seen such a beautiful pair of eyes, I found myself getting lost in them as they surveyed every inch of my face. The smokey feel of them warmed me up, a great contrast to the cold silver that bled my skin. I watched as the beautiful color bled through into black soulless pits marking the rise of his wolf striking me more in awe.
And as if his beauty wasnβt enough to stop the world on its axis he spoke again making my skin shatter into goosebumps.
