POV Cass

Music blasts in my ear when I lift the weight of my chest. I take the towel that’s next to me on the floor to wipe off the sweat and yank the earbuds out.

“Fuck,” I groan. Maybe that was a bit too much, but I couldn’t deal with the sounds coming from upstairs. It took everything I had to not just barge in the room and claim her again. I thought I would be jealous if I ever saw her with one of the others, but truth be told, it only turned me on. It was Gideon who came up with this plan. He noticed how we all instantly fell in love with her the moment we laid eyes on her. He also was the one who saw neither of us could walk away if we made her choose she picked one of the others.

Fuck, only hearing her moan was enough to get up and running again, but I already had her and I knew it was important that she bonded with Gideon and Roan. Our connection was solid for now and I prayed with all my heart that it would stay that way. I had to admit though, I did not expect them to take her together at the same time. I’m not opposed to the idea of sharing her, but I don’t know if I’m ready to actually share her at the same time. Maybe in time, with Roan, I would feel comfortable. God knows what we did together in the past few months and it’s another thing to add to the list of things we needed to talk about. It just never seems to be the right time. I know I’m not gay, maybe bisexual, but the thing with Roan was all about sex. It was about releasing the tension that builds up inside you. We haven’t touched each other since we met Jaleena, but it doesn’t sit right with me to keep this from her.

I sigh, grab my stuff and make my way to the shower, desperately wanting to get rid of all the sweat. Just when I’m about the open the build-in bathroom door, I hear noises coming from upstairs. I can’t make out what it is, but I can feel that something’s off. I concentrate on the bond with Jaleena and it confirms what I already knew. There is something wrong, but I don’t feel any danger. She’s upset. More sounds are coming from above me and I know it’s not from the fucking, they were done a while ago. Curiosity gets the best of me and when I walk upstairs to the main floor of the house, I can hear someone shouting. I drop the bag that I brought with me to the gym and take the stairs two steps at a time. I can hear it’s Jaleena who’s yelling, undeniably at Gideon of Roan.

“Shit,” I mutter under my breath. She has a very short fuse and if she doesn’t calm down soon, we’ll all be in trouble. She has no idea how powerful she is. Yeah, that’s another thing we need to talk about. We may have some individual power, but she has so much more. I’ve read about it when Julian and I did some research in the week she barely spoke to me and I have a pretty good idea what she is. It’s something that has never been seen before, combined powers from various amount of creatures that you’ll only hear about in the scary campsite stories.

“You don’t get to decide that! It’s my decision, not yours,” I hear her scream. I pause at the door when there’s silence. Although I really want to bust through the door, I’m not sure it's the right thing to do, not with her temper. She could easily throw me across the room.

“Are you calm now, babe?” Oh, shit. I close my eyes and if it was possible I would kick Gideon’s ass. Doesn’t he know her by now?

My body tenses when I hear Jaleena’s voice and it’s the sweetest sound I have ever heard. Now, normally a voice this angelic would turn me on within seconds, but knowing it’s Jaleena’s scares the fuck out of me. The last time she used this tone on me, she chewed me up and spat me out without breaking a sweat.

“Of course, babe. I’m calm. Very calm.” There’s silence again and I debate what to do, feeling kind of lost, but of course, she won't be silent for long. “You’re right, babe. I’ll just lay here naked, waiting for you three to come fuck me whenever you please. I’ll even dress up and play house,” she sneers. I close my eyes and I can feel from deep within that there’s no coming back from this.

“Jaleena, you know he didn’t mean it, right? He’s just being an idiot,” Roan soothes. I snap my eyes open when I feel the floor rumbling, dust is falling from the corners of the ceiling and without another thought, I throw myself at the door and crash inside the room. Frantically I look around, trying to find Jaleena but I don’t see her anywhere. Gideon and Roan freeze when the shaking of the floor intensifies and I can hear the windows shaking in the windowsill, but I don’t care about any of that. She may caused this with her energy, but she could seriously get hurt. She’s a ghost, or well, something like that but it doesn't mean she's immortal. After I searched under the bed, behind the desk, and in the closet, I come up blank, and without warning, the walls stop shaking and it’s as if nothing happened. Compared to the calm before the storm.

What. The. Fuck. I scan the room one more time, but she’s nowhere to be seen. The sudden sound of exploding lightbulbs sends us to the ground and we all cover our bodies with our arms from the pieces of glass that are flying around and the room grows dark. We don’t move for a few more minutes, waiting until we’re sure the walls won’t come crashing down. When nothing happens but a few aftershocks, I raise my head to look at them, scanning their bodies for injuries.

“Are you guys okay?” I ask.

“I don’t know what happened,” Gideon whispers. There’s something in his voice that makes my heart race and something is nagging at the back of my mind. I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing, but Gideon and Roan are searching the room, calling out to our girl.

“Everybody shut up! I need to think,” They both freeze and I slowly stand up and that’s when I feel it. Relief floods through my body. I turn my attention back to Gideon. “You should’ve known better, dude. You want to know what happened?” I grin at him. He looks lost and when I try really hard, I feel sorry for him. Okay, I don’t, not really.

“What?” he snaps.

Roan chuckles. Obviously, he figured it out too and knows exactly what happened. He nudges him with his elbow when Gideon looks confused. “You called her babe.”

He swallows and pales visibly. “Where is she?”

The corner of my lip lifts to a smirk. “Don’t worry. I know exactly where she is.”

Author's note; yes, another note ;) The next chapter is from Gideon's POV. In the middle of writing this, my laptop crashed and I had no other option than to continue on my iPhone, please don't mind the grammar errors in the next chapter. I'll fix it as soon as I can.
