“Ow.. don’t pout daddy. I know you don’t really want to be here. Well, guess what? Neither do I,” I continue while walking in circles around him, stroking his back with my middle finger. Yes, like a big fat fuck you to my dear old dad.
He straightens his spine when he feels the touch of my finger and I can feel him shivering. There's a little bit of sweat forming between his eyebrows and above his lips. His body is tense while he tries to figure out where I am. Well, what do you know? He does feel fear.
“Funny. You weren’t scared when I was alive. But you should be now daddy.” I continue walking around him and I stop at his back. I bend my head a little so my mouth is close to his left ear.
“Boo,” I whisper.
He squeals and stumbles over his feet while he tries to get as far away from me as he can. He tries to open the door but he won’t get out of the room, I manipulated the lock. Another perk of being a vengeful ghost. I cackle viciously and stride over to him. He is still fumbling with the lock of the door.
“What to do, what to do daddy. To kill or not to kill. Now, that is something you can’t take too lightly don’t you think?” I ask. Watching him find his way out of the room satisfies me. I breathe in the smell of his sweat, mixed with fear. My eyes are starting to burn, knowing they’re changing color, my power reaching the surface. I slightly shimmer into my solid form, but not completely. He can see through me now.
“That won’t work you know.” Poor man, you would think he knew how to pick a lock. I mean, he ís one of New York's biggest crime lords.
“What do you want from me?” he asks. There’s a tremble in his voice that I’ve never heard before. His eyes are closed, too afraid to even look at me.
“That’s all you can say? For fuck sake, you sold me to the highest bidder!” I yell at him. I start pacing in front of him and I decide not to show myself anymore. It takes a fuck ton of energy to shimmer back to my solid form.
“You know, I was a little bit disappointed. I got sold for six and a half grand. I think I’m worth a million, don’t you?” I sigh deeply and he straightens his spine when the sound reaches him. I can feel my energy draining so I know I don’t have a lot of time left before I start to shimmer back. Time to get to the point.
I take the back of the chair and slowly scrape it over the concrete floor, causing a screeching sound that echoes through the empty room.
“Now, daddy. What could I possibly want?’ I tap my chin as if I’m thinking really hard. But I know exactly what I want, and it’s time he knows it too. He starts walking backward and I throw the chair across the room. He falls to the floor in fright when the chair hits the wall with force. Splinters of wood fly around him, landing at his feet. I strode towards him and I crouch next to him until my forehead almost touches his.
“I want revenge,” I tell him softly. I look straight into his eyes but he still can’t see me. The fear and shock are written on his face and I can feel a spark of satisfaction in the pit of my stomach. But I don’t think he realizes how much worse it’s going to get. I’m going to destroy him, his business, and everyone in it.
Only when I am satisfied and all loose ends have been taken care of, I start with him.
Then, and only then, I’m going to kill him.
I stand up and start walking away. I remove the magic with a twitch of my hand and open the door. Before I walk out I turn around for the last time.
In my most cheery voice, I yell: “Don’t worry dad. I’ll be back. Don’t miss me too much! I know I won’t!”
With those words, I slam the door behind me and stalk towards the exit. As soon as I’m out of the building, Julian hurries towards me.
“Are you okay?” He asks softly. Only then do I notice that my hands are shaking and tears are running down my cheeks.
I nod curtly and right before I step into the portal he created, I raise my hands and throw my head back with a high-pitched scream.
There’s a loud bang as the building explodes and the sound of shattering glass fills the quiet area. I don’t doubt for a second that my father fled the building the minute I walked out the door, so I’m not worried about my plan ending prematurely. My revenge will come. I’ll make sure of that. With that thought, I take Julian’s hand and together we step into the portal that takes us back home.
