Long time ago...
During the Joseon Dynasty, a prince and a girl fell in a forbidden love. Princes were only allowed to marry nobles or princesses during this period, so the Queen and King of the Korean Empire forbade the prince to marry the girl with no status.
The prince, ignoring his parent's wishes, ran off with the girl and they married shortly after. Word had gotten out that the prince had married a girl with no status, but they could never find the happy couple because it was said that the gods had hidden them safely in the woods.
The Queen and King were shocked by the news and pleaded to the gods for help to find their only child. A goddess finally answered to the pleas of the King and Queen and advised them.
'After one month of your son's wedding, you are to put a dagger in the lake under the full moon and two days later, the girl will mysteriously killed.'
The King and Queen were reluctant at first, but they decided to do it so their son will return. They put a dagger in the lake a month after the wedding under a full moon, and two days later, the prince came to the palace holding his wife's body.
The prince buried his wife on royal grounds, and started an investigation in search of the killer.
Years passed without any clue who had killed his wife, and the Queen and King urged their son to remarry. The prince, still despaired, remarried a noble and moved on with his life as King of the Korean Empire. He soon passed away, still unable to see unravel who was killed his wife.
This is the tragic story of the prince and the girl.
