A History Lesson
A century ago, Tentallis was flat. The land was barren and uncultivated. Hunger was nothing new to the people as many starved. The ruling family, the Vocali, leisurely laid in their castles as those below scrounged for their leftovers. Till this day, no one knows how the Vocali came to be with their supernatural gift to control people with a simple word. The only thing known for certain was that they were a group of people beyond any reasonable strengths and held mystical powers. They ruled through fear. They wanted to dominate those they saw as weak, any one other than them. They and their army would lay waste to everything.
However, Contessa Ergo, the leader of the opposition, began to focus on furthering scientific research on them. Due to her focus on the wellbeing of the common people, she was named Chancellor of what would become the greatest republic this world has ever known. Ergo made a breakthrough in her studies, and prepared a treaty to be made, where she would announce her findings. That night she was poisoned at the very dinner she planned. The peace meeting was never for peace at all.
With a swift election Jadine Coarser, a coworker in Ergo’s study was the new Chancellor. Avenging his late colleague, the new but strong Chancellor Coarser swiftly dethroned the Vocali in a bloody war for our freedom and independence. The entire Vocali people were struck with holy retribution and their bloodline put to an end.
