Blood

~I could already taste it.

Your blood.

Please don't leave me.

I only ever wanted to be near you.~

I meet Liam at the fancy restaurant for dinner. It looks like he is paying and I haven't been on a date in ages which makes me feel badly that I am only here to kill him. He seemed nice, after all. And I didn't really want to hurt him but I had to.

"You have beautiful eyes." He says, noting my lavender irises. "Contacts?"

"No, its natural."

"Natural purple eyes. How pretty," he says, his own green eyes widening. "Is that so." He is wearing a buttoned down shirt and jeans and he looks very handsome with his brownish auburn hair brushed back. There is a softness in his eyes. A softness I regret overlooking. He is obviously a very nice man and I feel badly that I must kill him tonight to be with Luke.

"Do you work?" I ask, breaking the awkward silence in my head and clearing my throat. His hard stare is breathtaking and makes me nervous. I cannot speak again. I can only stare inquisitively at Liam and hope he will answer in some way that is not endearing enough to make me swoon.

"Yes. I'm a business man," he smiles. "I own a business. Not a very big one but I make business cards. We print them and ship them out and have a few stores across the city. You've probably heard of us."

"Probably," I croak. His voice is fierce and handsome and I am enjoying his company. Was this cheating. Was I cheating on Luke.

"We're called Name It Inc." He continued. "There's a store down the street. I could show you later on if you'd like."

"Of course," I smile nervously, wondering if I should kill him now or after he paid for dinner.

Luke forgive me.
This man is too perfect.
I want him.

I do not wish to murder this man.

He smiles and I smile at him too. Tears well up in my eyes.

Luke.
This man Liam.
I loved him.
I do not wish to murder this man.

Dearest Luke. He must be so angry at me. For so many reasons by this point. I take the dinner knife into my hand and quickly press it to Liam's throat, drawing the lightest drop of blood. I stand up, knife still in hand, to Liam's shock and dismay and pull the knife to the my lips, lapping up the trickle of blood running down the blade. "Follow me and I'll kill you," I hiss finally when I am through.

I stalk out of the restaurant, furious that I could not bring myself to kill him. HIs heart could stay in his damned chest for all I cared.

I cry to myself.

Luke.

I have betrayed you.

I have betrayed you for another man.

My heart has felt love for another man. I am sorry. I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry.

I rush to the woods to meet with the Devil to tell him to throw me in hell, kill me even, and that I could not fulfill his bargain to kill this man, Liam.

That was true friendship.

I knew that now.

I knew now I would never take a true friend's life.

Ever.

Not ever.

Mother would've been proud.
