Chapter 10

Having just finished training with the warriors, I return to my room to shower when a voice calls to me on the stairs.

“Alpha Christian, do you have a minute, please?”

I turn around to see that Lexi is walking towards me wearing, as usual, a very sexy outfit.
She thinks because we’ve slept together a few times I’m attracted to her but she’s dead wrong, I’m just a guy and she’s clearly the best looking girl here and when I close my eyes while fucking her I see Amelia.

“What do you want?” I ask her curtly as I continue up the stairs.

“I saw you had finished training so I thought I’d join you in your shower to release the pressure.” She tells me in a sultry voice.

I roll my eyes and answer her. “I took the pressure off at practice.”

I open the door to my room and close it before she can step inside. In any case there is one quality that cannot be taken away from her and that is perseverance. Her life’s goal must be to become a Luna.

As I head for the bathroom, there’s a knock on the door. Damn, she’s really insistent.

I open the door abruptly and see not Lexi but Grayson. I open the door wider and he walks in.

“Grayson to what do I owe your visit?” I ask him.

“Alpha, I want to be useful to the cause and I wanted to know if you had an assignment for me? I think I’ve passed all your trust tests and yet I still feel like a prisoner.” He said.

“A prisoner?” I ask him in surprise. “Your room doesn’t suit you?”

“No, it’s not that. You know what I mean.”

I sigh before answering him. “Josh has to meet some rogue, ask him to take you with him.”

“Thanks Alpha.” He tells me solemnly before leaving my room.

He’s right, he’s given us information that will be valuable to us, I think it’s time to let go.

Amelia and I have taken to running together in our wolf forms, which allows us to strengthen our bond but also to monitor our borders. For the past few days, we have been moving further away from our borders, with rumours of rogue encounters taking place. As we run, Amelia stops abruptly and she nods for me to join her. I approach her and immediately understand what has captured her attention, a smell we have been searching for weeks. Grayson has been here.

We split up to cover the whole area where we smell his scent and search the ground for anything he might have left behind.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Amelia revert to her human form and bend down to pick up something. I do the same and join her.

“Did you find something?” I ask her. And she unfolds a small paper. She places it in front so we can both read it.

“Ο πατέρας σου είναι ο προδότης, όχι ο αδελφός σου.”

All this for scribbles. Damn it, I thought maybe it was a message from Grayson. Amelia looks at me but unlike me she doesn’t look frustrated but rather reassured.

“He kept his word. He didn’t betray us.” She almost speaks for herself.

“Did Grayson leave this?” I ask her surprised.

“Yeah, from the handwriting I’d say it must be Greek.”

“Okay, and what does that mean?” I ask her.

“How should I know? I don’t speak Greek but I’ll get the translation.”

She puts the paper in her mouth and shifts back into her wolf form and heads off into the territory at full speed and I follow closely behind her.

When we get back to the pack house, I go to my office while Amelia goes back to the library to decipher the message we found. I hope it’s really something and not a joke or worse a trap. When Alec meets me in my office I tell him what we found. He seems relieved too, I think all of us doubted Grayson’s word but we all secretly hoped that our friend wouldn’t betray us this time.

“So what about you then, how are you doing? How’s it going with Sophia and the pregnancy?” I ask him. I’ve noticed that I haven’t really been checking in with my friend lately.

“Now that she doesn’t have her morning sickness it’s getting better.” he tells me with a smirk before adding. “Really good if you know what I mean.” And he wiggles his eyebrows.

Pretending to be shocked I reply. “I don’t want to know any more.”

We laugh for a moment and he looks at me seriously.

“Don’t worry man, I’m sure you’ll get to know that soon. The Moon Goddess knows you have other things to worry about right now.”

I nod.

We talk about everything and nothing for a while, then Alec leaves to join Sophia who mindlinked him.

I look out my office window and my mind drifts to thinking about my future with Amelia and our future little ones. We’ve only talked about it once and she didn’t seem too eager to get to that point.

I make a few calls to various Alphas and Amelia joins me in my office. She says nothing and sits down on the chair opposite me. Her eyes are red, she has been crying. Before I even ask her what’s going on she throws a piece of paper on my desk.

“Is that the translation of Grayson’s note?” I ask her as I grab the paper.

She nods but says nothing.

I read what she has written on the paper.

“Your father is the traitor, not your brother.”

I look at Amelia and I am shocked. Well David we can say that you’ve made a fool of us all.
