With only five days to go until the party, I’ve tried on several dresses but still haven’t made my choice. I tried to talk to Sophia but she hardly spoke to me at all. She says she’s busy decorating her new home away from the pack house but I know that’s just an excuse.
After training, showering and getting ready, I head to the library to read a bit. I pass Zack heading towards Noah’s office.
“Hey Zack how are you?”
“Luna Amelia I’m fine thanks and you?”
“I’m good. I’m a little bored I must say. Are you going to see Noah?”
“Yes I have to check with him on the schedules for the rounds around our borders and finalize the organization of the families’ travel for the Night Pack.” He pauses, rubbing the back of his head with to ask me. “You still haven’t had a talk with Sophia?”
I shake my head.
He sighs before telling me. “It’s probably not my place to tell you this, but I’ve spoken to Alec and she can’t believe her dad could be involved in this. There had already been doubts about her brother and now her father. She feels like it’s all about persecution.” He pauses. “I know you have a complicated history. Noah and Alec explained to me the history with Alpha David and your mother, but I think you need to give it time. And if you’re looking for company I know someone who’d be happy to have a fresh face visit him.”
“Who? Jenny?” I ask her, raising an eyebrow.
“She told me about her low blow at practice. She regrets it she acted out of anger. You should talk.” He pats my shoulder and continues on his way.
It may be wrong to say this under the circumstances he arrived but I’m glad he’s here, he’s a really nice guy.
Finally I walk away from the library and head for the cells.
I stand in front of the gates of Jenny’s cell.
“Luna Amelia?” she asks me in surprise.
I nod and she approaches.
She sits down in front of the grill and I do the same.
“I’m sorry. For everything. I’m so sorry for the way I acted towards you and for dragging my brother into this.” She sounds sincere.
“I know Christian asked you to do this and he took advantage of your position as a companion to do it. And as for Grayson I think he’s the one you should apologize to.”
“I hope I get the chance.” She sniffs, “I never thought he’d get away with it. I hope he’s okay. You know he’s a teacher he’s not a warrior. He’s trained but he’s not a warrior.” She places her head in her hands and starts to sob.
“Grayson is my friend too despite what he did he is still my friend.” I tell her genuinely.
It’s horrible to see her like this, I wish I could tell her that her brother is on a mission for us and that he’s making amends for his past mistakes.
“Thank you for coming to see me. The only person who visits me is Zack.”
“Maybe I’ll visit you a little more often.”
She looks at me with a small smile.
“Zack told me that you were planning a party for you to be formally introduced as Luna.”
“Yeah but I find myself organising it all by myself, Sophia and I had a fight.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” She asks me.
I shake my head before answering her. “I can’t even pick out a dress by myself.” I sigh. “Black, red, or blue I don’t even have to choose the colour.”
“Red, for sure. It’ll look great with your hair and skin tone.” She replies.
We go on for a while talking about dresses and planning the evening. Zack was right to advise me to come and see Jenny, she is nice. It seems that the first impression is not always the right one.
After talking to Jenny, I told Sara that I would be wearing red to the party and she offered to come and bring me several types of dresses that might fit.
As I head upstairs to my room, I run into Sophia.
“Hey are you okay?”
“I’m fine and you?”
I nod. “How’s the house decorating going?”
“Yeah and the party planning?”
“I finally picked out the colour of my dress. Sara is going to bring me some so I can choose the cut.”
“What colour did you choose?”
“Very good choice. That’s what I would have chosen.” She replies with a small smile.
“Do you want to come with me? You could give me your opinion.”
“With pleasure.” Her smile widens and she jumps into my arms. “I hate this situation. I want to spend time with you. I had to distance myself to think and now I understand your point of view.” She pauses. “But I hope it’s a mistake and that he had nothing to do with it.”
I feel the tears welling up as she tells me all this.
“Stop. Don’t cry or I’ll cry and with these damn hormones I don’t know how long it can last.”
I can’t help but laugh at her remark. I hold out my hand, she grabs it and we go upstairs together to meet Sara for fittings.
