Chapter 33

AMELIA

I look at my reflection in the mirror and I am simply amazed. I feel like a completely different person is standing in front of me. I am wearing a red knee-length dress, slightly low-cut with thin straps and nude heels. The girls have done my hair up in a bun with highlights coming out and the make-up is perfect. Eyeliner, mascara, a little blush and lipstick.

“You did great. Thank you, it’s beautiful.” I say to the Omegas who helped me get ready.

“Thanks Luna.” They answer me.

“I wish I had a moment alone. You can go, I won’t be long.” I inform them.

They nod and leave the room.

I continue to admire their work when the door opens. I am guessing that one of the girls must have forgotten something.

“Wow you look great.”

I turn around hurriedly.

“Nathan?! What are you doing here?” I ask him surprised by his intrusion.

“I wanted to talk to you in private.” I raise a doubtful eyebrow and he continues. “I don’t know if you’re aware of this but your mate threatened me the last time we saw each other.”

Oh my God we’re not having this conversation. He clearly hit on me in front of everyone and he surprised her so I suspected he had said something to him about it.
He clearly hit on me in front of everyone and Noah heard him so I figured he’d act like a good self-respecting alpha male and mark his territory.

“And?” I reply annoyed.

“I had no idea you liked that kind of attitude in a boy. If I had known I would have tried that method.”

“Well, look, I’m going to set the record straight once and for all. Noah is my partner and you’re not going to change that. You and I had a teenage crush and nothing else. Nothing has happened and nothing will ever happen. Understand?”

His jaw tightens and I can see I’ve hit where it hurts but I had no choice.

“Now if you’ll step outside, I have a party to attend.”

He turns around annoyed and before he goes out he turns around.

“You’ll regret this.”

And he slams the door behind him. Is he serious? No, but honestly he doesn’t know that we’re already under threat from a madman.

A few seconds later, as I’m trying to calm my nerves, there’s a knock on the door.

“What now?!” I yell.

The door opens and Victoria walks in.

“Sorry Amelia, I just wanted to see if everything was okay.” She tells me calmly.

“I’m the one who should be apologizing. Everything is fine.”

She enters the room, looking very elegant as usual. She is wearing a long black dress, slightly slit up her right leg, her dress is strapless and her hair is loose in a cascade. She’s really a pretty woman.

“You look beautiful, Amelia. As always.”

“Thank you. I was just coming down.”

I turn around, taking one last look at myself in the mirror, and when I face her again, she points a gun at me.

“You’re not going anywhere. And if I were you I’d listen, those are silver bullets inside.”

“What does that mean?” I ask her, shock evident on my face.

She walks over to me and forces me to sit on the bed as she takes a chair and places it in front of me.

She in turn sits down, keeping the gun pointed at me.

“I know Christian won’t be happy about me killing you but I have a feeling this is my only way out of getting rid of you.” Her tone is calm and threatening at the same time. I’ve never seen her like this.

“So he was right. It was you all along.” I reply.

“Don’t tell me. Did your dear daddy tell you? I had a feeling he’d find out eventually. I knew that him joining Christian was just a ruse to confirm my involvement.”

I nod, “Why? I don’t understand.”

She sighs. “You’re a smart girl though. I mean, you’ll be dead soon so I might as well tell you everything.” She pauses. “I met David when my father, who was the Alpha of a nearby pack, came to talk business with him. As soon as our eyes met we knew we were mates. I couldn’t have wished for a better mate, he was handsome and an alpha.” She tells me with a pensive look. “We quickly finalised the mating process and I got pregnant. And then one day, a human girl shows up with a baby.” She looks at me with disgust. “I found out you were David’s child and I wanted him to reject you both, to tell you to leave but he didn’t. Instead, he insisted that Alice stay. And I had to put up with all those years of seeing them, smiling at each other, hearing them talk about you and how proud they were OF YOU.” I flinch slightly at her last words and she pauses, trying to calm down. “Oh yes he was proud of you, he insisted that Sophia go to all these competitions, these activities that you were involved in so he would have an excuse to go and see you. He always preferred you to Sophia and Tom.”

“That’s not true I know they like it as much...” I cut her off but she cuts me off in turn.

“Don’t talk about things you don’t know. You are the fruit of love while my children are the fruit of the will of the Moon Goddess.”

I open and close my mouth several times. I want to say something to her but I can’t find the words.

“I hate you and your mother. With all my being.” She says it right to my eyes and it makes my blood run cold.
