Chapter 34

She hates us. All these years I’ve been going to the Williams’ thinking of them as a kind of second family and all this time she’s been hiding this resentment inside her. But I don’t see what this has to do with Christian. He wants me to be his Luna, he doesn’t want to kill me.

“What does that have to do with Christian?” I ask her.

“At this point, I can tell you everything. We met by pure chance. He felt confident enough with me to tell me his story and his sense of injustice about his father’s decision. I immediately thought that he would be a good match for Sophia. The only picture of her I had with me at the time was a picture of you two. And I’ll leave you with the one he fell for.” She rolls her eyes, sighs and resumes. “Anyway, with the anger over I figured it would keep you away from us and at least I wouldn’t have to see your face anymore. So when I told him you were going to university to study literature, the plan was easy to come up with as he worked in that field. He sent his friend Josh to keep an eye on you and get close to you and the rest you can imagine since you applied to the same publishing house. What we didn’t plan on was you having a mate and finding him and on top of that he was the person who had the place Christian was after.”

Josh? The person I thought was my friend all these years was a fraud. The whole time he was in league with Christian.

I’m brought out of my thoughts when I hear someone shout my name from the hallway. Victoria turns her head and I decide to take the opportunity to disarm her. I push her, taking her gun and we both fall on the floor. She tries to turn me around and I suddenly find myself under her. I try with all my might to push it in her direction.

The door opens and I see Zack, Grayson and Jenny. The fear on their faces is the last thing I see before I hear two bangs.

As I wait patiently in the hall, I see Nathan coming down the stairs, I call out to him when he reaches the bottom.

“Where did you come from?” I ask him aggressively.

“Me? From your room.” He replies to me with a smirk.

I grab him by the collar of his jacket.

“What did you just say? Tell me the truth right now.” I insist and I try not to punch him in the face.

“Can’t you smell him on me? I’m telling you the truth.” His smile widens.

What the fuck is this? I can smell it and he’s right, I can smell my mate.

“What did you do to her?” I say, shaking him.

“Are you sure you want to know?” His smirk disgusts me. I know Amelia would never do anything with him.

I raise my fist to punch him but before it gets to his face, he tells me.

“Are you sure you want to do this in front of your guests? Let’s go to your office so we can settle this once and for all.”

I keep my hand firmly on his jacket and we head to my office.

We walk through the door and I see Christian sitting in my chair, clearly he was waiting for us. Next to him stands another man I recognize immediately even though I’ve only seen him once, Josh.

“At last we meet dear cousin.” Christian says to me as he gets up from the chair. “Please sit down, we’ll have a little chat.”

I clench my fists along my body but I comply.

“Thanks for keeping my seat warm but I’ll get it back today. And when I say my seat I mean the seat in this office but also the seat in your bed.” He smirks as he says these words.

“If you touch a single hair on her head...”

“What?” He cuts me off. “What are you going to do? I’ve already got someone upstairs keeping an eye on her.”

“Victoria?” I ask him with clenched fists.

“So you knew. She was right, David did finally spill the beans.” He sighs. “Well it’s too late now, your fates are sealed.”

“What does that mean?”

He sits back down at the desk and hands me a paper.

“I’ve prepared a letter where you explain that you’re giving me your place, all you have to do is sign it and then we’ll announce it to all those people downstairs.”

I laugh. “Seriously? You think I’m going to sign that without a fight?”

“If you refuse, Victoria kills Amelia.” He replies to me, leaning back in the chair.

“You’re bluffing, you want her to be your Luna.” I tell him confidently.

“You are so naive. I killed my own parents and you think I wouldn’t do something to her?”

My eyes widen and he has an evil laugh.

“I thought they had a road accident?” I ask him incredulously.

He answers with a small smile. “It’s amazing how many people can have accidents. Right, Nathan?” He is now looking at him.

Fucking right I’d heard his mate had been in a car accident.

I turn my eyes to Nathan.

“You killed your mate?”

“She wasn’t good enough. When you get a taste of someone like Amelia it’s hard to get less good afterwards.” He answers me with a smile on his face.

“In your dreams, I know nothing happened. I mean, now that she’s tasted me you don’t stand a chance little puppy.”

“Enough!” Christian interrupts. “Just sign the fucking paper and let’s get it over with!”

“Never!” I yell back at him.

At the same time, two bangs sound and I can’t help but think of Amelia.

What if...
