Epilogue

Two years later

AMELIA

“Are you almost finished?” Sophia asks me as she pokes her head through my office door.

“Yes, I’m sending this email.” I click send. “Done.”

I get up and join her.

“Where’s Ava?” I ask her.

“She’s with Alec.” she replies, rolling her eyes at me.

I laugh. “From what I can see she’s still hung up on him.”

“Yeah a real daddy’s girl.”

We walk down the stairs to the living room.

We set up my office in our house, it was easier for our organization. Noah still has his office at the pack house and I work with him for my Luna duties but as for my work as a consultant I do that from home. My mother has let her employees run the restaurant more often so that she can visit us regularly.

We walk into the living room, Alec sitting on the sofa with little Ava on his lap. Ava is the image of her father, her blonde hair is combed into two pigtails, she has big green eyes. She is wearing a pretty little blue dress and little white trainers. It looks as if she has let herself go for the dress but not for the shoes. She may only be two years old but she already has her character and she is not a fan of dresses. I heard it’s not practical for running.

Next to Alec, there’s Mum and Dad. Yes, David and I have come a long way in the last two years and I call him Dad. He and Mum have come a long way too. I know they spend time together but nothing more, I don’t even know if they have defined their relationship themselves. After Victoria’s death, some people thought it was strange that David didn’t suffer more. He told us that the bond between him and Victoria had been broken a long time ago and that his true love had always been my mother. Sophia understood this but it was more complicated for Tom, they talk but nothing more.

Zack is sitting on the opposite couch with my grandparents, talking about his travels.

“Amelia, can you come in for a moment?” Jenny calls to me from the kitchen.

While Sophia joins the others in the living room, I go into the kitchen.

“Do you need help?” I ask her.

“I don’t know where you keep your cake scoop.”

“Right here.” I reply, opening one of the drawers.

“So I heard you and Zack decided to live together.”

She looks at me with a small smile. “Yes that’s right. He asked me and I agreed. We’ve been seeing each other for a couple of years now and we’ve been together almost every day so I thought maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea. And also...” She pauses. “You’re the first person I’ve talked to about it, but we decided to mark each other.”

“Oh my God Jenny, I’m so happy for you two.” I tell her honestly.

“Are you?”

“But yes you are kidding or what? You both deserve to be happy and there’s nothing stopping you from doing that.”

I take her in my arms.

I hear crying and that’s my cue to go upstairs.

“I’ll meet you in a bit it sounds like I’m being called.”

She nods and I go upstairs.

I open the bedroom door.

“But you’re both awake.”

Grayson and Eric both stand in their respective beds.

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I became the mother of the world’s most adorable babies. I will remember for the rest of my life when the doctor told us I was pregnant with not one but two babies. Luckily there was a wall behind Noah because I thought he was going to fall over. As soon as we knew we were having two boys, the choice of names was a no-brainer, we couldn’t think of anything better than the names of the two bravest people we know.

Grayson and Eric are non-identical twins, Grayson has brown hair and green brown eyes, he is already a strong character for a one year old boy, he is what you would call a daredevil. Eric has black hair and blue eyes, he is sweet and very cuddly. But he is always ready to try out his brother’s mischief.

“Today’s stars are awake?” Noah asks from behind me.

“Yes it seems so.” I reply with a small smile.

The two little boys look at us expectantly.

As I pick Eric up in my arms, Noah picks up Grayson. After changing their nappies, we join the others downstairs. On the stairs Noah stops me for a moment.

“I wanted to tell you before we join the others. We would have found Josh. There’s a rumor going around that some of Christian’s followers are still seeing each other even though he’s dead.” He announces to me.

“But why?”

He shrugs. “I’m not sure, but I guess some of them had found a pack that suited them.”

“Thanks for telling me, but I’ll try not to think about it too much, today.”

He nods and we join everyone in the living room.

We sit down with the boys and Jenny brings the cake. While everyone is singing “Happy Birthday”, Ava approaches the cake and blows out the candle, which made everyone laugh.

This little girl is really incorrigible.

The little ones are with mum and dad, I stand in the doorway of the living room, looking at our friends, our family and thinking how lucky we are to have them in our lives.

When I see our life and I see them all there, I see how far we’ve all come and I think that’s amazing. So yes maybe Josh and others want to start their own pack but as long as they are not threatening to us I don’t see how that would be a problem for us and I will definitely share my thoughts with Noah. But if anyone comes to threaten my family, I won’t let them. It’s out of the question.
