The Girl Called Lux

The Girl called Lux.

I am Lux, the girl with long hair. My hair was so long I could hide behind it.

I am a Dragon, Known to be powerful, strong, but I’m just me…a girl so scared to look people in the eyes.

My parents were killed because of fear. Soldiers stormed our house and killed my Mummy and Daddy. When I heard the door be broken in I knew what was happening, all I could do was hide.

I was taken in by nice people, they were human but, they looked past the fact that I was a Dragon, they were high class as well that surprised me even more.

They gave me lots of love and every time they smiled at me I would always smile back, how I wished that smile was real though.

At parties, I would always get stared at but, I was fine with that now, I could just hide behind my long hair anyway.

I started to hear the people at the parties talk about the black market. They said that there was a high price for Dragons, young ones in fact.

One time I was playing in the snow in the forest next to my house when I was approached by the men that would talk.

They grabbed me and pulled me away from where I was playing, they tried to drag me down the road, I tried to stop them but I was just a little girl, a girl that was shy, that would always hide behind her hair.

I gave up on trying to make them stop, I dropped my hands from his, which were upon my head, and closed my eyes…I then heard a slash and a scream. I opened my eyes again and I no longer felt a hand upon my head.

All the men had stopped dead in their tracks, the man who had been holding onto my hair was clutching his arm as a red liquid travailed it’s way down to his hand. I wanted to look over to see who had saved me, I thought that maybe they hadn’t saved me and maybe just heard that Dragons were worth a lot on the black market.

“You would dare to place a hand upon a child,” A rough voice spoke.

That voice I…I know that voice.

“Okay, we’re sorry, just let us go!” I heard one of the men speak.

“There is a warrant out for your arrest, I might get in trouble if I kill you,” The rough voice continued, I then heard a click, I think he was putting his sword away. “Now, away with you.”

“Yes, sir.” I heard them move around and then run away.

“Lux,”

“Uncle…” I started as I opened my eyes slowly. “Karr..” I started to move my long hair away from my face, He was kneeling in front of me, holding out a hand to help pull me up.

“Are you okay?” He asked me.

“Umm,” I gave as a reply as I took his hand.

“Still so shy, huh.” My uncle said to me. “Come on I’ll take you home.”

I started to follow but then stopped, I clenched my fists I wanted to shout, I felt so helpless, I don’t want to feel like this. “I don’t want to be shy anymore.” I tried to shout but instead, it came out as a whisper.

“What did you say?” Karr asked in a kind voice as he turned to face me again.

“I don’t want to be shy anymore,” I said a bit more loudly.

“Well, what do you want to do about it?”

I got an idea…I walked over to my uncle, he smiled at me but his smile then faded when he was I was reaching for his sword, he tried to stop me but it was too late. I gripped the sword and sliced through my hair.

Long, beautiful strands fell to the floor, my light blonde hair was mixing in with the snow.

Karr’s face had softened when he saw my hair fell to the ground. “Why did you do that?”

“I don’t want to hide anymore…I won’t hide behind my hair anymore and I don’t want people looking out for me. I want to look after myself.” I said confidently. “I know you’re a teacher uncle, teach me, teach me how to look after myself.”

I am no longer, Lux the girl with long hair, I am now, Lux the girl that shines bright in darkness, the girl that will not give up and never back down.

gaviwashere: Book was epic and different. Not cliché it was truly awesome

Josy_se_libros: I really liked the book but the ending felt kinda of rushed. (Spoiler) I understand why Cameron wasn’t ready to have kids but would have loved just a glimpse of him growing into the dad role but that’s okay. Other than that it was a great book loved the characters.

May_Mystic: Such a great book, this was the first book I ever read on Inkitt and this totally raised my expectations for all books😊😊

redbat98: This is a good book and I like how its done! However there is a lot and I mean A LOT of grammar and spelling errors...perhaps find an editor to help you? But I would definitely recommend this to a friend even with the errors!

Bensarchive: I read a LOT of werewolf stories. Eventually, the storylines, the backgrounds, and all are usually the same if not a little bit different. But the author shows the cliche heroine lifestyle with a not so cliche way of surroundings and characters. I like it. Thumbs up for the book 👍👍

Tati Monet: Although it was a short story I would have liked to see more detail in the writing in regards to the plot and how fast everything accelerated. When reading a historical book, you also like to hear about historical references - what they did in that time, foods they ate, music that was listened to...

Rose: The book is great I actually read it more than once. It's so great

Ayana D: I love the details. I was able to visualize every place and person within the story. I even went and read the first story despite this story standing alone, just to better understand the story and its characters. I look forward to completing this story and reading others by yourself.

jaceannerecto: This is one of the most amazing werewolf novels I've read in maybe all reading sites. Two different persons, similar past, different ways of coping with their own heart break, intertwined by fate.Love this so much. Man this book is gonna bet big, especially if this gets published. Can't wait for a...

Thenicia Roberts: I've always found simple straightforward romances to be rather enjoyable 😊. Great work!

Shaun: The story is great and I would like to continue reading but I can't do that if you're not gonna continue writing. Even though Mason and Amooti doesn't interact that much I could already feel the chemisty.

Anime Addict: Honestly as soon as I read the first chapter for this book I knew I would love it because of how much I related to the main character(girl). Even though it's a supernatural book I still felt like some of the things she talked about especially regarding how she changed her looks to be normal and h...

Harshna Haswaani: The story had its own beautiful line. The problem loes with grammar and character development. There was a constant change between 1st person's point of view and third person's point of view. Personalities of characters can be more defined

Layla: Loved it I also hope it continues
